Hi, Here is my input if you thinking of buying it. Biggest issues: 1. Frets are set all right but NEVER been leveled, after leveling I got action at just over 2mm - 12th fret E string. 2. My bass got real p-bass neck, around 24mm at 1st fret - disaster for me - shaved off to 21mm and now its a star. 3. Machine heads stiff? Why people don't use like Vaseline? after greasing them a bit they work as ANY machines on the market - they are not shallers but do the job. Big pros: 1. Sound - for me, better than my usa jazz bass with aguilar pickups - not kidding, I know it`s Jazz vs p-bass but I like p-bass sound more from now on. 2. Body made and painted very well. 3. Good pots imo CTSs wont make better bass...but this is very personal preferences I guess. 4. Price of course. 5. Its under 4kg bass very good for an old prick like myself - my back is safe. Cheers, Tomas
I'm surprised you're not getting any noise recording your bass directly into your sound blaster. The inputs on it are likely not designed to take a guitar signal. If anything it should be better recording from the amp, but, I really would recommend you get a decent audio interface if you're getting into recording.
I`m surprised You telling me I shall have one My apologies, Its sound blaster Audigy wit Drive Bay, I guess not very bad quality. No matter what I record: ESP B205 Fretless or my Mayones Jabba 4 THERE is no hiss/hum at all... I want to record via an amp to get more sound variations which Markbass creates but as said before getting pretty lot of noise... Here it is an example: Bass + Sound blaster audigy:

Hi Everyone, If I need I always record my guitars and/or basses directly connected to my Sound blaster bay panel and its all right. This time I wanted make it "better" by recording via amp. I`m happy user of Markbass SA450 and Jabba Mayones 4 strings with Delano HUM canceling pickups. There is NO hiss when recording direct sound and when not using the amp as mentioned. Ground lift switch make it a bit better but still can hear the hum/hiss.... Have checked the cable between the amp and sound card bay and seems to be all right. Does it matter if the bass is in passive or active mode. What else can do? Thanks in Advance! Tomas

Hi, I have found very simple solution - returned the pot and do not need to worry any more... Very disappointed, will avoid any push pull pots in the future especially branded ones.
-
The battery has been checked and it is 9.45V.... there is no other regulation screws on preamp. The problem was a loop in active mode with passive tone control. I have found simple solution: No Load Pot which disconnects the pot when reach the end of the pot... This will allow me control the tone in passive mode and disconnect the loop in active mode. I do not need another control tone in active mode and makes me happy! here it is my updated mod wiring diagram: works brilliant. Cheers, Tomas

Hi, So far, I have removed the master tone 250k (passive) and sounds pretty good in active and surprisingly in passive mode even when I do not have tone control in passive mode. Ones had GMR custom made Bass with MEC pickups and MEC 2 band preamp and I remember there was no tone control in passive mode but this time bass sounded pretty bad(!) in passive mode of course.... Cheers, Tomas

Hello Everyone, I wonder if someone could help me. Currently trying to change my Active ESP J4 bass into Active/Passive Bass. It works perfect in Passive mode but in active the sound is weaker and 2 tone pots behaves strange (weak would say) I have no idea how to disconect passive tone pot B250k in this case. Got this stage where Active pots and passive pot worked simultaneously in active mode. Passive mode is always OK. Please see attached simplified drawing for this mod: Thank You for any advice given.

Hello Everyone, Just have installed the pot and found strange issue. I can hear some scratchy sound while turning the pot in passive mode, but there is no noise while using it in active mode. Is that normal You pay £13 for branded pot and then You get that noise? What should I do as to be honest did not expect this? I had no similar issue(s) with alpha pots and even with made in china pots. Thanks in Advance!

Hi Everyone, Due to tight budget I have decided to go for...... New ESP LTD Elite J4 See Thru Black with hardcase Made in Japan for.... £400(including shipping) bought in Italy. The Guitar is on it`s way to me (tracked shippment) Details can be PM if You want. Also been told by an experienced Jazz Player who has played many diffrent guitars (USA made, Mexicans, Germans, Asians) in his life that SQ Fenders necks twist very often and overall quality is not very good for the price they are sold in the UK.... So, If I could buy proper instrument for my budget I had, I went for ESP guitar. Ive got B-205 fretless bass from LTD and It`s brilliant so far. Thanks again for all tips and help!

Thanks guys!

Hi, Thanks ones again. I have no problem with guitar mods or set ups - it`s kind another hobby... I`d rather go for SQ as love the maple neck and sound it makes. The Fender CS 60 pickups are best (for me) I have ever heard. Case closed!
