Hey, so im going to try and make my own pickups for the first time and was wondering if anyone has any tips? Also I was wondering what way the magnets go? Does the pole of the magnet matter which way theyre facing?

Hey! So, i wanted to know how are rail pickups made? Are they the same as normal pickups with one strip instead of individual magnets like usual? Also could you use a Rail guitar pickup and put it in a bass, whilst it still giving an even sound on all strings unlike a normal guitar pickup which doesnt sound as good on strings out of line of magnets? Thanks!

Originally I lacquered the neck with a spray, it was quite thick, then I wet sanded it down to smooth it out but I wasn't happy with the size of the neck so I sanded it all down and reshaped it. To refinish the neck this time I applied Danish oil with a 1200 grit sand paper, which worked well to grain fill. The body is mahogany and thicker than a normal p bass, so it is quite heavy.

I traced over the band logo with a 2D design software, then transfered the file to a laser cutter.

Recently, I decided to make a bass guitar for my favourite band called CREEPER. I really enjoy building guitars and wanted to make one for the bassist as I really enjoy the music. I built it in my school workshops after school and in my spare time around my GCSE’s. It took me about one and a half months. I have got pictures of it in various stages. I gave it to him when it was finished at Camden Rocks festival, he’s a really great guy and it was great meeting him.
