1.
Found out I was sacked when I saw the advert for a bass player in the classifieds. I phoned the singer and got her answer phone. left a message and got one back a few days later with an apology but no real explanation. I suspect it was the keyboard player / band leader who was a total arse.
Unprofessional, these bands usually go nowhere. Blue
 2.
I have just qualified. Joined a band and had 3 rehearsals for a mix of covers and originals - all of us roughly equally skilled but I have possibly the most gigging experience as well as diversity in music. Everyone agreed a 3-4 week break due to holidays etc, I messaged the group to ask when we were reconvening and was told pretty much "we're changing the band with one guitarist now playing bass instead of you, sorry bye" I just hope he's better at bass than he is guitar.
Was there any signs that these guys were amateurs when you rehearsed with them? Blue
 3.
With only one exception, who was/is a total dick, in the same 35 years as the OP I've played with very good drummers who have been very normal people. The good thing for me is I don't play with beginners, guys who have little experience or anyone playing as a hobby. All the guys I know have been around the block, know what to do and how to do it and most are making a living out of playing drums. The rule is that you work on recommendation and anyone who doesn't match up doesn't get asked. On the other hand I've know far more flaky guitarists and singers!
I like this post. Blue
 4.
Oh yeah and I sold a Squier MIJ silver series P bass I had while I was at university cos I had no money whatsoever. I ended up with £80 for it, to a bloke who worked at a secondhand shop.
MIJ Squiers are awesome.IMO best value out there. I have 2 MIJ Fender Ps. Just ad nice as the American Standards. Blue
 5. Back in the mid 70s an ex girlfriend stole and sold my 1957 pre CBS Fender Precision. Classic burst. Blue
 6. We play the world famous Summerfest next week on The Johnson Controls World sound stage. World class sound and lights. If we get even a marginally good sound we'll be lucky. However, for whatever reason when the headlining act hits the stage at 10:00pm the sound will be awesome. And some headliners don't have dedicated engineers that work for them. I swear there's a button on the main board that has 2 positions. 1. Headliner (great sound) 2. Supporting act (crap sound) Blue
 7.
Did you really need to go through the pa ?
In a small club, maybe not. Large festival stage Yes. Blue
 8. These days with a decline in interest in live music overall, I don't think most people even know I play bass. They think I'm up there playing guitar. No one has ever approached me and commented on my playing. I'm a bass player in a bar band and play at that level. I have some nights where I feel like I should be playing at the national headliner level and some nights where I think I should pack it up. Blue
 9. I don't find drummers any flakier then any other musicians. I will say finding a good drummer with experience and knows how to be in a band is hard. Blue

 11.
Why, why, why is it that the ones who supply festival portaloos can't ask for them to be designed better? I mean , they block after the first half day. Surely a larger drain hole/ piping system would be in order. These toilets are going to get much more industrial treatment than the average household bog, which has a larger drain. It's surely in these event suppliers own interests, as it must be horrendous to have to clean them ! I know it certainly puts me off going to these things and I'm a guy. It must be worse for girls. Last one I went to , I was walking towards the line of bogs and I watched a girl going along the line tentatively opening each door and quickly shutting them again , which at least gave me an insight into which ones not to enter!
I know what you mean, we call them port a potties in the States. I looked into one of them once and wondered, "how did they get it on the ceiling" 😅 Blue
 12.
I've been (not quite) watching this years offering - I liked Madness, but then, they are of 'my time' - turned off a lot of prog-rock noise and a fair number of females who seemed to think that 'talent' consists of stamping around the stage with spread legs (yawn) - Tina Turner did this stuff fifty years ago....anyone fancy coming in (maybe I'm just too old)?
Too old is relative. Blue
 13. Yeah, I think for those who are going to dig in an study, definitely worth $168.00. Blue
 14.
Same as others have said, not heard of them before but really like it how they sound. I always thought/assumed (incorrectly) Funky Broadway was a Wilson Pickett composition. Fast forward a few decades and the singer reminds me of Lee Fields..
Authentic and raw describes this sound best to me. It's the past though, cats don't lay it down like this anymore. Blue
 15.
Very nice. The New Favourites of Brinsley Schwarz has very much this feel.
Cool, amazing how some guys get together at the right time in history with the right kind of talent and can come up with an ass kuckin signature sound. Blue
 16. Cool, glad you guys liked it. Underrated band and believe it or not many guys don't know about them Blue
 17. Dyke & The Blazers, the band was formed in Phoenix and recorded "Funky Broadway" there-- interesting the band came out of Arizona, not one of our music hot spots. Probably one of the most influential American funk band led by Arlester Christian (June 13, 1943–March 13, 1971). The band was formed in 1965 and recorded until 1971, when Christian died. I thank my lucky stars I had these records to learn from back in the 60s. Take a listen, the bass player is clean, articulate and funky as hell. It's not for everyone, but for those of you with an interest in the real history of funk you'll like it. By the way this was originally post on Face Book by your Nick Lowe. Nick, what a down to earth guy. He has a few Milwaukee connections. I always go to see him when he comes to Shank Hall. 19.
What exactly do the "fun people" do ?
Just a general good positive vibe from everyone involved. Blue
 20.
Some pubs are doing that. Sadly, the agencies they use don't seem to want to use us, despite the venues themselves loving us - I think they must have their little list of favourite bands.
Yes they do. The trick is to find out out how to be one of their favorites. In the States agencies won't go near a rock/blues band. Blue
 21.
That will be awesome! If you have the Live in London set from a few years ago, I'm somewhere in the audience.
Cool, I'm a new fan. There wont be anyone there on a Tuesday night. I hope I can chat with Doug. Blue
 22. Come to Cream. City in Milwaukee incredible selection of new and vintage bass guitars. It's riht on Blue Mound Road. Just ask for Brian.😅 Blue
 23. Getting that "sound" can happen. Getting someone else's tone could be tough. Blue
