1.
is that the cricket ground?i work out of the hospital just behind it.
? I'm not from the UK. Blue
 2. The electric bass guitar was never designed for playing solo. However, that's changing where the new direction of bass is playing it like a guitar. Blue
 3.
Is he the one in the pink hat, top left..?
Al is the lead guitarist shredding his arse off.😁 Blue
 4. They're a pain in the arse to me. All my other pedals work fine. I've tried the Soloman & the Boss OD pedal. Blue
 5. My good friend Albert Anderson tearing it up in Canterbury. https://goo.gl/photos/vDf9eDiQXXuWajJZA Blue
 6. When a gig is sh*t, I'll admit it. Last night we did a boat cruise gig on The Vista King on Lake Michigan. We sold out the cruise at $22.00 a head. Great weather, dance floor on the upper deck was packed all night. It's a 2 hour gig we left at 9:00PM and we're back on land at 11:00. Great pay too.Mire than double our normal fee plus tips and half the hours. We needed a good show under our belts. We also went through the set list we'll use for the upcoming show with Peter Frampton. Blue
 7.
Gentle negative term, don't think there is a US equivalent.
Got it. Blue
 8.
"Younger guys" ? C'mon - Epiphone were making quality instruments before anyone on this forum was born.
They may have always made quality instruments. But those of us that were gigging back in the 60s know that Epihone was not known as the 2nd teir Gibson. Blue
 9.
Cheers, Blue, people will definitely take notice of you with the Thunderbird. We'd all like to think it's our technique, musical ability, and personality that gets us noticed, but I increasingly think it's just down to the impact we make on stage. The look of the bass and the player makes a real difference.
True, I get a lot of attention from guitarists when I gig my Gibson Gold Top Les Paul bass Blue
 10. I'll listen to the clips. I've only heard 1 Billy Bragg recording, "Walk Away Renee". Brilliant! Blue
 11. If I played in a band that played the music I like I'd be broke. Blue
 12.
2012, according to the date stamp on the back of the head, Blue. Two gigs in now and love the sound and the attention the bass attracts!
Back in the 70s, The Gibson Thunderbird was the ultimate "kick ass" bass. Enjoy your Thunderbird Dave. I'll be gigging mine a lot more often. Might use it for our show with Frampton. Blue
 13.
As a resource I think that SBL is a great site, lots of great lessons presented in a way I have no difficulty grasping. Obviously I find some lessons more pertinent that others but that's why it's so useful - there's going to be something for everybody and if I don't get it first time round I can go back at my leisure and look at any lesson. I've recommended it to lots of people and always had positive feedback from them. I've met Scott a few times too and he's a properly nice fella - down to earth and always has time to stop and chat - he may have some financial motivation in giving these away but he is running a business, after all. I'm sure that the winner won't be complaining when they get a great Bass for nothing. It seems the way of this forum to be cynical - personally I'll support Scott in any way that I can - my playing and theory have come on leaps and bounds just by using his site. Scott, keep on doing what you're doing mate...
I completely support Scott. My generation, all we had were a few basic bass guitar lesson books bassed on guitar and moving that needle back and forth on a record player. We had nothing close to the insight and structure Scott delivers. Blue
 14.
You need to remember this is a PR exercise to attract new punters to his Bass lessons academy. So, IMHO these are great basses for someone who is starting at the lower end and learning.
Agreed Blue
 15.
We had a guy climb onto the stage and attempt to talk to each of us while we were playing. He ended up tripping over his own feet and hitting the wall rather hard, resulting in him being laid out cold next to the PA. We just kept playing. The police attended, we kept playing until they asked us to stop between numbers. The guy was hauled out between two burly coppers and taken away in an ambulance. His reason for being on the stage? He wanted to buy us all a drink and was trying to find out what we wanted!
That buying the band a drink thing is common and a nice thing. But wait until a song is over. Blue
 16.
You've yet to meet me fellas! I'm an utter git
Git? Blue
 17. If I ever make it to the UK, I'll be looking all of you up. Blue
 18.
Epiphone or Gibson, it'll make a serious impact, nothing looks as good as this! It's put the pic in twice, but only shows as one in edit mode - sorry, but two Thunderbirds for the price of one can't be bad!
Cool pics, Dave what year is that bird? Blue
 19.
It's no good, my will has failed. There is a wanted ad up as we speak for an epiphone thunderbird (sorry Blue, my pockets just aren't that deep to stretch to a Gibson at the moment)
You might want to wait or buy used. Blue
 20. It happens a lot. It's rude, I'm not sure there is any polite way to deal with it. Blue
 21. I think those active controls are stacked. That's not for me. Blue
 22.
Nor me. I just cannot get on with this online learning thing. I'd rather just learn a piece by ear / tab and sometimes even music
I love online tutorials that are good. Marlow and Scott are a blessing. We didn't have sh*t back in my day. Lessons, not many were teaching bass. Guitar players teaching bass is what we had. After that it was learning from records, which was a pain in the arse. Some of you younger guys don't know how good you have it IMO. Ticks me off to see guys consistently playing parts arse backwards when you can go to YouTube and someone will show you how to play it right. Blue
 23.
The Gibbo was for sale on here, OK, a bit more than an Epiphone, but then I'd have to have bought a case and now I won't be plagued with thoughts of 'This is all very god but a Gibson would be even better'! I will take a close look at the new Epi T bird when it hits the shops, though, a back up is always useful...and at least I'll have something good to compare it to. I own and often gig an Epiphone Jack Casady bass, so I am not a brand snob, the Gibbo is just a breathtakingly beautiful bass, to my eyes (and sounds bloody good to my ears, as well. Damn thing even smells good!)
I have heard only good things about the Epi Cassidy. McCartney's guy uses one. As a matter of fact that guy uses all Epi basses. McCartney has a 60 year history with Epi. For you younger guys, back in the day Epi was not a second teir brand. It was a top brand name. Blue
 24.
I probably am a bit as well - I've got shot of the few Squier basses I had and my Precision and Jazz basses are all Fenders, 75% of them US models (the other one is a Classic 60s Jazz made in Mexico), not really because I care what people think, but I because I always wanted them when I was a kid, and also they have proven themselves to be completely reliable, and require less frequent adjustments than the cheaper clones. Probably down to better wood, better fittings, and better quality control.
Agreed, I gigged my 1991 Gibson Thunderbird last weekend. I hadn't touched that bass in 6 months. It was still in tune and the intonation was on the money. Blue
