Anyone have club, pub, or bar in your bands gig rotation you'd rather not play anymore. If yes, why? Blue
yeah that must suck. of course you could quit your job and play music fulltime......oops, there I go dreaming the impossible again, sigh
Isn't that easier to do in the UK than in the States. Blue

Not to get off topic. Just a word about the MRX M85 Bass Distortion Pedal. I really like the separate wet and dry controls. I like the way you can keep your clean low end where you want it. Blue
Oh well, off I go. Wish us luck (and lack of damage!)
Good luck, Your in my prayers that no ones rear is damaged.😁 Blue -
Personally, I never make a decision on a pedal without hearing it at full volume at band practice. As you say - some pedals sound great at home but disappear in the mix when used in the real world (out of the bedroom!). Equally, my rat-based distortion sounds killer at full volume, pushing the tubes on my rig, but underwhelming through my little solid state practice amp at home. Most importantly, from my experience at least, I think you need to build your pedalboard around a consistent setup (i.e. same type of bass, same amp and cab), as just changing the bass, or the amp, or the cab, is enough to dramatically change how a pedal sounds, and your opinion on it. Never ceases to amaze me how using somebody else's cab at a gig (but my bass, head, etc) can make such a change to how my pedals (dirt, especially) sound.
Sometime you can't win. I recently had my board re-set. There were some bad cables and I had split power from one input and my board was giving me a lot of grief. Now it's totally cool. I've been working with tone prints and mixing a little dirt, bass octave, pinch of delay and overdrive for sustain. I have a big gig opening for a pretty big name scheduled and I have to use the backlined amp provided. Seems like all my tweaking will be for naught. Blue
If you want a consistent pedal board you're not having to tweak all the time, you need a way to balance the outputs of your basses, or just use one. I mean in terms of tone as well as volume
Totally agree. Blue

Shonky generator outdoor gig - which amp?

A few of me and my old mates from "back in the day" (the 60s) that are single frequently say; 'Where are all the hippy chics?" 😁 Blue -
This is my stance, too. My rear has always been for my use only.
There was one exception involving an invisible bear.😁 Blue -
My drummer, on the other hand, may turn a bit pissy if he thinks he's being taken for a ride (or a crash!), as he doesn't have the means to replace his gear as readily as I.
I don't blame him. I don't have money to throw away on repairing my rig. Blue -

I've been doing this for 50 years. I have a standard answer regarding using my rig. "No" Even when I was a teen, I had reservations about guys that ask and want to use other people's rear. Blue -
I'm lucky my bands trust me with sounds
I don't trust myself with sounds. Blue
This is useful as if say both me and the guitar want to use chorus it could be a bit much so I'll back of
True, and I can't expect everyone to agree with me just because I think an effect or combination of effects sounds good. I also like to run my pedal decisions by the other band members. Blue
Why is it that whenever a short notice gig is available. I am rostered to be at work? I can see my bandmates faces drop everytime. It must be nice to work 9-5.
Work hard, if you can retire at a young age you can gig *8 days a week if you want. Blue *Market permitting of course.

Having a cool pedal board is great, managing when and how you employ or execute pedals for the gigging musician is another story. How many of us have tweaked our pedals at home with good results only to get to a gig and you hit your dirt or chorus and it sounds bloody awful. Then there's the issue of how different basses will hit your pedals differently. For example; 1. passive vs active pre-amp, 2. single coil vs humbuckers 3. solid body vs semi-hollows 4. wireless relay vs traditional lead Are you using the effects pedal to enhance the song or the sound of your band or just "Willy Nilly" engaging and effect on a whim? This is a little project for me, getting more than a barely functional level of managing my pedals. Comments, thoughts and suggestions. Blue
Looks like they cost about £140-150 when they came out.....quiet a few places selling them around £60 now? don't know why as they sound bloody great! I was using it as my main dirt all through lastnights jam.
Cool, I wonder what's happening with EBS. I paid $199.00 for my Multi-Comp. Blue
Just to make this clear... It is a bargain. Buy it. Thank you
Agreed, aren't most EBS pedals priced around $199.00? Blue
That's good to hear. I don't have the Corona chorus pedal although it looks great, but I recently picked up a TCE Spectracomp and have been having great fun trying out the different tone prints to see which ones work well for me.
I have the Corona Chorus, Mini Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb. Remember to save the pre-sets you like as favorites. Blue
Did it work?
Works like a charm. The trick is finding pre-sets you can apply to your work. Blue

What period/style of music inspired you to start playing?
blue replied to TheGreek's topic in General Discussion
64, pretty simple it was 1964 starting with The Beatles & The Stones. Just about any rock & roll that came out of England during that time period. That's when it all started for me. I've always and only play bass guitar. Blue -
You download a file using the TonePrint app and then play that soundfile to your pickups (bass pluggled into the pedal) and it magically transfers the patch to your pedal. It so easy it's wonderful.
I'll have to try that,I have several TC Electronics pedals. Blue
