1.
You can edit the patches and then save them to the "user" section. Setting your amp flat will then give you least colour but if you like your amp's usual settings, edit the patches to suit.
That should work. However, I'm a pedal guy (TC Electronics & MRX). I'm still not sold on multi effects processors for bass/live performance. Even the newer units don't have the mojo of good pedals IMO. For recording and at home use you should be fine. Blue
 2.
Rule of thumb used to be "I don't open my front gate for less than £100". But you certainly do have to have a fairly accurate idea of your own worth ahead of time. Not sure how that works these days but I just took a dep job for next NYE in a pub as a favour to an old mate & it pays £1k between four of us. Chris B has the truth of it. A gig is worth what it is worth to you at the time.
Ivan, I like where your heads at. I also like 1k gigs for 4 guys. That's "good money" where I come from. Blue
 3.
Do you get many offers?
No, I'm not really networked to get many DEP offers. I would love to ad depping gigs to my existing band schedule. I'm not a member of the club where you get called for DEP work. I'm an outsider that has gotten the boot at every attempt to join the inside club. Now, most bar gigs in my part of the world pay $100.00 per man for 4 hours of work. If a guy has to learn a ton of new material in many cases less then 2 weeks plus work for 4 hours because a band is short staffed, I think $175.00 is a more than a fair fee. What do you guys think? Blue
 4.
@ Blue; I read under notifications that you had posted here just after six this morning. The post is not here now...? I am both disheartened and disillusioned. It's enough to make me consider taking up smoking again! I may "unfollow" this topic soon. Come on Blue, we're all rooting for you mate!
Spondon, it's a dark poor quality cell phone video. The only reason I wanted to post it was for you guys to hear the rather top notch tempo one of the new drummers were working with kept. And I wanted to make sure I haven't mislead anyone. We're not a professional band. We're a local bar band. Blue
 5. I would say , if your offered a DEP job, it's not about more or less than the regular members. It's about your fee as a DEP. Either they can afford to pay your fee or not. If I DEP a bar gig, my fee is $175.00. I'm not concerned with what the others are getting. Blue
 6. Sorry, guys, I'll take this thread down. If I find another vid I'l try again. Blue
 7. Too bad the link doesn't work be ause it features the bear hump dance.😁 Blue
 8. Working in a new drummer last Saturday night. Our attempt at what we call in the States as that "down home" feel. I realize I look like a moron, but at 64, who cares. 😁 https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10210746469771202&id=1633441691 Blue

 10.
Yes originals. I can't imagine he'll make a huge amount, but it's not really about the money, more the fact he's assumed he can do it without gaining explicit consent!
Over here in the States, unfortunately everything is about "the money". Blue
 11. I also use "speak on" leads. I'm not sure they make a difference. Blue
 12.
I've been involved in the house scene and TV advertising and using virtual instruments in no way frees you from the obligation to come up with good ideas and record and produce them in a creative way. I like playing bass in a 'real' band, but anyone who says producing electronic music is in some way 'easier' or 'unreal' is talking out of their arse.
I have no idea if it's easier or not. I'm 100℅ sure it's different. Blue
 13.
It's very "cliquey" around here.
Same in my neck of the woods, they will take the marginal insider before an advanced outsider. Blue
 14.
There was a week between being offered two gigs and it being cut down to one. Whilst I know the set, they have a habit of adding a few new tunes which I duly learn and then have to rehearse with them also. If I am lucky enough to be offered further gigs again from them, I shall agree with the caveat that those gigs means just that. Thanks for the feedback.
I'd love to pick up some decent playing DEP gigs on nights my band isn't gigging. Nobody is going to call me. Blue
 15. To much gear to mention. However, right now I'm bar gigging with my Line 6 wireless relay, G&L ASAT bass, GK 1000rb , head through a GK RBX 2 10 cab. The high end pre-amp boost in the ASAT will cut through anything. Dedicated Pedals, I'm using a little reverb, chorus and phase. Blue
 16.
Here's my band - The Peoples Republic of Mercia - rocking out in an Old School, Dr Feelgood, edgy R&B sort of fashion. The video is a wee bit cheese-tastic, but what ya gonna do, eh? It's from our new little 5 track CD EP thing, called DIY - have a look at the website if you fancy it - www.promercia.com
Nice job! Blue
 17. Nothing much you can do, but don't count on them when they call you for future gigs. IMO , once you accepted their offer they should have used you, not their regular guy. Blue
 18.
Yes. What I remember about JMB (JoinMyBand dot co dot uk) when it worked for me was that there seemed to be a healthy amount of turnover in between the bumps and repeats. Seems the site owner isn't bothered sorting out my log-in issues however so it's a dud now. I believe it is run by a chap from home who isn't really into web publishing. I understand your approach from various postings about your career change late in life. You done good by the sound of it. Much respect.
Thanks, I guess it depends where you live and what your looking for. In my little corner of the world, If your merely looking for guys to play with I think you can find something. There's lots of "start ups" and originals bands opportunities. However, we never see any opportunities with established working bands making money advertised publicly. Blue
 19.
Ears broken by time ? 😀
No, IMO, I think it's more like, " they don't make them like they use to." Blue
 20. If you own your songs, I would say no. Are your originals copy written? Are these all bands that are signed with labels with huge followings? How much money do you think this will generate for this guy? Blue
 21. I've played a lot of different bass guitars over the last 50 years. I still gig with my 1991 Gibson Thunderbird, I might gig it tonight. I've never experienced whatever this "neck dive" stuff is. Blue
 22. I've had the 8 10 Ampeg backlined for me at a few shows. To be honest it doesn't seem anything like the SVT I purchased in 1972. Disappointed Blue
 23. Seeing The Beatles on US TV February 9th 1964, The Ed Sullivan Show along with millions of other soon to be bass players. Blue
 24.
You can't seriously be suggesting that there are gigging musicians who don't know 'Happy Birthday' ? Or are you ?.... Lordy, I hope you are jesting. Edit: Don't forget your Rubbers !!!
I can play Happy Birthday but none of the other band members can and I doubt I could convince them it's something we should learn. The gigs keep coming in and I keep my mouth shut. Blue
 25.
I thought you might have been tempted by the Welsh Christian one at least Blue. http://www.milwaukee...s.asp?xid=69643 Joking aside, have you a local area called Wales or is that really for the country of Wales?
It's Local area called Wales. You can see that advertised opportunities are weak. Blue
