1. Travelled to Moffat on Thursday to collect this beauty. Forgive the crappy pic but proof that its mine, all mine! I’ll take some more in natural light after Christmas Spent an enjoyable time with Alan talking bass and other stuff and got to see his workshop. It was a 5+ hour round trip but well worth it to get the opportunity to shake the hand of the fellow who makes these beautiful instruments. Just starting to get my head round the DFM preamp. The palette of tones available is huge.
2. Just purchased an EHX Micro POG from Grae. What a gentleman. The communication with Grae was frequent and informative and he’s a really polite chap. We had some fun and games with the pedal doing a farewell UK tour courtesy of the couriers (they were great at tracing the package and getting the depot manager to deliver personally). Would very happily deal with Grae again. Genuine fella!
3. Just bought EHX Superego from Darren. Arrived in bombproof packaging and totally as described. Great pedal and top bloke to deal with. Good chat along the way. I’d deal with Darren any time.
4. I'd say the tension is moderate, not much different to the D'addario Chrome Rounds I replaced them with.
5.
...I'm a bit overloaded with ACGs at the moment...
Do you need any help lightening the load? 8-))
6. I have a set of Fender 9050 flats 50-105 which came on a Squier VM Fretless Jazz from Tom1946 of this parish. £15 posted.
7. Just sold my Musicman Stingray Fretless to Miki. Smooth transaction made very simple indeed. Miki paid upfront and was a great chap to deal with. We communicated regularly via email and from dispatch to receipt was a mere 7 days and took into account a public holiday in Spain. Deal with confidence. Thanks Miki.
8. My first purchase from John, upgrade drop-in control unit for my Squier Jazz. Impeccable quality and service. A work of art. Thanks John.
9. Collected a mint condition Squier fretless from Tom's place this morning. Chatted about bass stuff for a while and then got to see Tom's prized '62 Anglia. What a beauty. An absolute pleasure to meet and deal with such a genuine fellow. A credit to the BC community! Thanks Tom.
10.
Sad news... a great songwriter and bass player. Loved the Dan and his last solo album wasn't too shabby
Also need to check out '11 Tracks of Whack'.
11. Incredibly sad news. Big part of my musical upbringing. Katy Lied was the soundtrack to my summer of '76.
12. Flotus by Lambchop after their great gig at the Brudenell in Leeds on Tuesday.
13. Knebworth 1975 Pink Floyd; Steve Miller Band; Captain Beefheart; Roy Harper and Trigger; Linda Lewis; Graham Chapman (Monty Python); Brainless 17 year olds. Hitching from Yorkshire, got asked which route we'd like to take A1 or M1. Chose M1 not realising that Knebworth is just off the A1. Got dropped off at Luton and spent the night in a squat just off the roundabout. Great record collection. Waked a fair way the next morning before getting a bus to Stevenage. Fell asleep during Captain Beefheart's set which 40+ years later, I kind of regret. Roy Harper was excellent and watched the Floyd from the roof of some Bootlegger's bus, Spitfire et al. Grand day out!
14. 2 Tickets to see Wishbone Ash and a copy of Argus in 1972 NME competition.
15. Elbow in Dalby Forest next Saturday
16. Didnt see the show but she sounded good in Leeds a couple of years ago. Love Chicken Shack too.
17.
Neck dive?
My 'old' one. No neck dive at all. Lovely fast neck
18. Took me until I was 52 to finally 'get' The Beatles having tried many times over the years. I'm 59 now and I don't listen to them much but when I do, I go to Rubber Soul first.
19. Sad news. The Allman Brothers were a big part of my teenage years. Eat A Peach is a standout for me. Never got to see them live, sadly.
