  1. The only track I like on Frampton Comes Alive is ‘Do You Feel Like We Do’ ; takes me straight back to the hot summer of ‘76, eighteen and not a care in the world.
  2. Genesis - Seconds Out Jeff Beck & Jan Hammer Group - Live Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Weld
  3. Never seen these as anything other than fugly
  4. Great post. First gig was Wishbone Ash in December ‘72 as a snotty-nosed 14-year old. Won tickets and a copy of Argus in an NME competition. Saw the band loads of times in the 70s and very early 80s. Saw the AP variant a few times since, most recently on their 50th Anniversary tour. Awful, left after the first half of their set. Have only seen MT’s band 3 times and will be seeing them again in December. No bloated noodling and as close to the original band as my fading memory allows me to recall. Met Martin after a gig in Pocklington a couple of years ago and asked him about his Thunderbird; Epiphone with replacement pickups. Coupled with his Ashdown rig he gets a great tone. Lovely chap. He was one of the reasons I picked up a bass in the first place.
  5. For those that don’t already know, the PBS Documentary is on Sky Arts tomorrow evening.
  6. Hate to rub your nose in it Michael but 2 of my mates and I slept in a car on Wimbledon Common after the first gig at Earls Court and got tickets for a second night.

  8. Flicked through the doc on my phone and must admit there are some goose pimple bits. My first gig was Stafford in ‘76 the last was Birmingham in ‘83 but I’m getting closer to buying a ticket for Leeds as the days go by, just for ‘closure’ .
  9. According to another article referenced in the above, he recreated the photograph 5 years ago and allegedly suggested to the photographer that he, Elden, should be naked. "I said to the photographer, 'Let's do it naked.' But he thought that would be weird, so I wore my swim shorts," Spencer told the New York Post. Money-grabbing twot
  10. Sorry to hear of Martin’s passing. Never met him, probably traded with him and always loved his occasional ‘off the wall’ posts.
  11. Had a 5-string just like this; great basses. Good luck selling.
  12. Another convert. Thanks, Chris.
  13. DFM 5K A/P with SB70 Alnico pickups
  14. Thank you. This is the first full commission having had 3, a Finn, a Recurve and a J-Type which I recently traded with ead (Alain) for a Recurve fretless (an unlined beauty). I plan to retire in 12 months so will be spec-ing a Recurve Classic SC 6 as a gift to myself after 45 years graft. My GAS afflicted days will also be over 🤣 Shaun
  15. It lives, it lives! Just need to arrange collection. Don’t want to risk it going teats-up with a courier. Had a custom logo added to the rear of the headstock in memory of late father who passed away last May. His initials were gkb. More pics when I get my hands on it.
  16. Upgrades are more often than not a thankless task so…Chris & Team, 🙏👍
  17. Just bought a G10 wireless from Paul. Great to deal with. Excellent packaging and lightning delivery.
  18. Always had great service from John; a true gentleman
  19. I bought ‘Between Nothingness and Eternity’ when it came out, on the strength of the cover, the exoticism of the title and band name. As a 16 year old into Wishbone Ash, it was…hmm…a departure, shall we say. I listened to it until I liked it, a process of attrition, I imagine.
  20. Favourite - Springsteen solo 1996, Birmingham Symphony Hall, 8th row, slap bang in the centre. Jaw-dropping. Least favourite - Van Halen 2006, Toyota Center, Dallas. Worst sound I’ve experienced at any gig in 40 years. There have been a few shockers and some very, very good ones in between but those two just clinch it.
  21. FS/FT ACG J-Type 5. £1100/£1350 I bought this stock bass from Alan at ACG a couple of years ago. Excellent condition. Home use only. Will sell as either fretted or fretless for £1100 or with both necks for £1350. I bought a partially lined fretless neck about a year ago and the Bass has this neck at the moment along with a black scratchplate. Specs and original pics here https://www.acguitars.co.uk/project/0326jtype5/ Weight 4.273 kg String spacing at bridge 18mm A lot of folks on here can vouch for the quality of Alan’s work and the beauty of his instruments. Only selling this to fund a new build as a retirement gift to myself or maybe trade for a lined fretless 4. Will ship (UK only, sorry) or meet halfway (I’m just outside York) Comes with Hiscox case.
