I’ve had a couple of Stingrays but this Special in Dropped Copper is a keeper. Replaced stock white scratchplate with the white pearl

Bought new a couple months ago. Impulse purchase while waiting for repairs to Helix HX. With three simple controls, you have a multitude of old-school ambient sounds at your disposal. The dwell control determines the length of the reverb tail, so you can go from short droplets to lengthy echoes and everything in between. The tone control gives you the option of a dark, textural reverb sound or a bright twang, similar to that classic '60s spring tone. The mix control, as you might expect, then allows you to blend the reverb signal with your dry signal as much or as little as you like! Pics to follow.

I recently purchased an East UNI-PRE 5K pre-amp to put in a bass with EMG pickups. I'm familiar with John's pre-amps as I have one in my ACG so why not, I thought? What I hadn't realised was that the bridge pickup in the bass is a TW and is switchable between single-coil and humbucker. The pickup wire has 6 strands as per attached schematic and can be activated with a push-pull on a tone-pot or via a toggle switch. I don't believe the pickup was set up correctly so was wondering if I could go for either single-coil or humbucker operation one or the other i.e. no switching (otherwise I would need to add a toggle switch and I don't have the room in the rear-cavity). Also attached are the pickup inputs for the UNI-PRE. My question is does 6 (or fewer) go into 2; if so which ones or do I swap out the TW for another J-type single coil? By the way, I know next to nothing about this and was expecting a simple swapping exercise with some copper shielding and the minimum of soldering. Any help greatly appreciated.

Just sold P-bass to Steve; he was very accommodating, coming to my late father’s house which was a longer journey than coming to mine and waited patiently for me as I was running late. Negotiated a mutually agreeable price and the deal was done with no fuss. New to Basschat and another valuable member. Enjoy the bass, Steve 👍

Recently traded a bass with Vincent. Lovely guy, who was very patient when Eurosender let me down. We ‘chatted’ daily until his new bass finally landed. Packaging was excellent, good communications throughout. I heartily recommend Vincent and would trade with him again in a heartbeat. 🙏
