1.
I went through a similar process when I was trying out Gibson Les Pauls. The Gibson Les Paul Standard (Traditional) is a really nice guitar but not £2200 good. At this point it is what it is.
How's was the QC on them? Been hearing bad things about them over the past few years.
 2. With tons of options like Lakland, Sandberg, Maruszczyk and various other builders available for less than 2K, I wouldn't bother with Fender right now unless the *right* bass came along or I got a really good deal on something used (I love my MIJ Fenders) On the Ibanez front, did you find that they sounded really honky and midrangey? That was my impression of them in Glasgow, but it could have been an ancient battery.
 3.
That really looks the part
It sounds like it too, the next one is having a black and white chessboard finish, Saw it on one of his Les Paul models and couldn't resist something a bit off the rails.
 4. Love the Lakland basses, my JSonic was an instant winner for me. I tried one of the DJ basses in Glasgow when I was there, it sounded and played great. However the Jsonic had exactly what I was wanting with a J so it won out. Awesome colour too, HNGD.
 5. So, played my Speesy for the first time at a gig last night, it sounded amazing and exactly what I had in mind with this, it's really, really suited to a band mix. Like a P but has a Stringrayish grind to it. Which makes the excitement for my second one even more great, as I put a MM humbucker in it. Obligatory picture, if this thing works Edit: Sorry for breaking your computer monitors
 6. I thought it was this one (as it's mine) But I've just ordered another one of those...
 7.
From your comment that all screws are tight and speakers are securely fixed to baffle then my first thought (without knowing the cab make, construction material, bracing and dimensions) would be insufficient bracing. Get someone to play loudly through cab to induce the vibrations. Use your hands to find and damp the offending panels. Obtain some scrap 3" strips (approx) of 12mm (or thicker) mdf or ply or 2" x 1" (or an old broom handle). Cut these to provide a tight internal cross bracing where the vibrations occur. This shows the idea (courtesy of BFM) http://www.billfitzm...tes/bracing.jpg. It might provide the solution, from practical experience it does make a difference.
Edited the OP for more info, I'll try this tomorrow.
 8. So I've just got a new cab, which was making a farting noise when I played through it. That has now been solved, but now my 2*15 is vibrating/resonating at louder volumes. What could be causing it? Everything feels tightly put into the cabinet, so I'm not sure. Edited, I don't know much about this cab, but it's a JCM800 Bass cabinet with two fifteen inch Celestion in it, don't know more than that.
 9. Really good guys at Guitar Guitar Glasgow, bought my Lakland from them. Ryan is ace.
 10.
Easy. Speak to Adrian at Maruszczyk and get the exact P you've always wanted.
This.
 11. That looks like a lovely bass! What's the finish type? Looks lovely.
 12.
Mrs Ez is on board so I'll be ordering the new build today and transferring the money; exciting times are here again.
What are you going for?
 13.
My custom build from AJR guitars (Andy of this forum) is as good as any other custom build i've played. Better than most. 100% individual spec too. I'm aware my spec might not be to everyones taste, but i made it for me, not for opinions It has been featured as bass of the week here: http://www.notreble....singlecut-bass/ Worth sending him a message i reckon
That's a unique looking bass. I love it.
 14. PMT in Newcastle are solid. The staff in there are great, should really pop in again. Another good experience if we're talking stores is Guitar Guitar in Glasgow, went in explained what I was after, wasn't pressured to buy anything and the staff in there were helpful and absolutely brilliant, Ryan over there helped me out and handed me over to someone that knew more about the bass stock they had at the time. Bought my Lakland partially on how good the guys were in there, it helps it plays as good as it looks.
 15.
great basses, buy second hand unless you like throwing money away...
For Ibanez stuff, this is a good rule of thumb, they're insanely good value used.
 16.
Just got in with the Mrs from Firewind at the Slade rooms in Wolves, stunning guitarist Gus G and a decent band are Firewind !!! Good support band from Sweden called Manimal. sh*te sound and sh*te beer, ended up at Castle Hill Casino in Dudley for a decent pint and free buffet so not to bad a night.
Good line up.
 17. I just bought a JCM 800 bass for a stupid price. If I end up not liking it and selling it, I'll try some of the others!
 18.
Árstíðir -- Icelandic folksters. Myrath -- Tunisian prog metal. Seriously.
Nice call on Myrath, Arstioir are a good shout too. For me, even in Metal circles these guys are rather (Continuing from Rich's Folk) obscure : Falconer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79wk_DkPy3E&list=PL6B68B9CB24B96030&index=5 Celesty (Finland) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNf9lWNG5ls
 19.
............They're essentially Orange amps aren't they? ............ Don't let anyone near Meltham hear you say that (!) Matamp are pure rock 'n' roll (and their wattage is what they say it is).
Haha, good point. I just always assumed Matamp were like Marshall are to Blackstar (Ex-engineers moving companies and all that)
 20. I'm interested in one of these, Overhang looks to be an issue.
 21.
Martin will let you try the YI200 if you pop along to the workshop. Take your cabs.
He's literally round the corner, I'll shoot him an email.
 22.
If I were spending that kind of money on a tube amp it'd go on a matamp GT200. Their prices have just jumped up a bit but I still think they're the best in class.
They're essentially Orange amps aren't they?
 23. Sabaton/Accept/Twilight Force in Glasgow. Cracking night.
 24. Looking at tube amps here, I'm not wanting something to replace my CTM100, far from it. I'm wanting something to basically compliment it. with the CTM 100, I've seen a few options but I'm not sure on any of them as I want some opinions first before I dive in. I will be running these potentially through an Ashdown Mag10 OR a Barefaced Super compact depending on stage space. Things I like with the CTM: Modern features, being able to bias my amp The tone lightweight for a valve head cuts through my band mix well Things I don't like: EQ doesn't do much to it, even with the boost buttons would like something with less breakup with the clean setting generally want a cleaner sound, though I love this one Options that I have been looking at, Orange AD200B, I've heard good things about these and I have been offered one, but I am concerned just about the weight and the general tone. I once had a bass terror that I didn't like very much, not sure why. Was powerful, but lacked something. Is the AD200B similar? Rift amplification "Deep Rift" been offered one of these, with a 410 cabinet. Seller say's it's based off a JCM800 bass amp crossed with a Hiwatt 200W amp. No idea how it sounds, but that's the tone style it's going for. However, I think it's a bit much for something obscure (It's 1K with the 410) Itislocal,so I can go and try it. Stoneham YI200: Local builder, I believe there's a big thread on Basschat about it, looks like it's something I'm interestedin, howeverthere's no clips of it anywhere. Bass thread is here: http://basschat.co.u...ay/page__st__60 Thoughts, any possible contenders I'm missing? Forgot to mention, my main band is a classic metal type outfit (Think Scorpions, Maiden, Helloween and Fastway and you're there) in case that changes anything in terms of tone. Edit: Not wanting anything that needs 4ohms, want to keep it to a single cab.
