1. Did a very unprofessional video talking about the bass this morning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVjFITWRw_M Will do clips later.
 2.
Have you also considered this option http://stonehamamps....ss-Head(3023626).htm ? Martin Stoneham is a new name in the guitar and bass amp world but he is gaining a reputation for very well made good sounding lightweight valve amps. I've tested the prototype of this head and it's everything I'd want in a valve amp. The advantage with Martin is that as it's all handmade point to point wired, if you want any tweaks to the design, he can accommodate.
Martin has fixed tons of amps for me, I can agree with this.
 3.
The guitar shops that I know in Newcastle (Guitar Guitar, PMT, Windows) all have a pretty meagre selection of basses. Is there anywhere else in the North East that has more, or will I need to go further afield? I'm not looking for anything in particular, so the wider the selection the better.
I'd like to know this too, virtually no basses near me.
 4.
as I said before, I'm not a fan of V type or generally pointy instruments... but this one looks fantastic! I love the green/maple... it kind of tames the 'pointiness' a bit... like "yeah, I'm pointy and I can rip your heart out of your body if I wanted to, but if you don't betray me I'm all mellow and sweet, really"
I only went pointy to stop the drummer playing out of time! *plays out of time* Where's me eye gone?
 5. Opeth: Sorceress Twilight Force: Heroes Of Mighty Magic Narnia: Narnia Theocracy: Ghost Ship Power Quest: Face The Raven (EP) Sabaton: The Last Stand Far too many to list, but they're the ones I thought of.
 6. Use a BH550 at rehearsals. Very nice, not what I'd usually use, but they're nice for a SS amp. I like my valves!
 7.
Mine arrived today so I took the afternoon off to have a mess with it. Must say I'm very impressed with the fit and finish. Reeks quality and looks even lovelier in the flesh. A bit disappointed in the set up - fret buzz city, all over the fingerboard and took a while to tame this - although I'm not that great at doing bass set-ups. I've got it nice and playable now and it sounds ace. Amazing for £800! The gig bag is quality too - and also a short scale! Will get pics up tomorrow.
What did you get?
 8. Looking for a tube head to back up my Ashdown, and I've came across this: http://www.handbox.pl/WB-100-Glowa-Full-Lampa-p139.html Brand called Handbox, I know WOT is a huge fan and these look interesting, has anyone played them? I've came across their video demo's and there's something just not there with it. However, like with Ashdown, video's can be deceiving. Does anyone have experience with them? Not a brand I've heard of before.
 9.
Works for me.
Thinking about trying the normal headstock next time for some variety though! Some updated thoughts: Been going back and forth between this and my Jake. They sound totally different, but they play virtually the same. The 32" scale of the Speesy doesn't feel like it's changed the deepness of the tone compared to the 34" and I'm not finding it as difficult to adjust as I thought I would. It's like a 4 to a 5 string for me. I can change on the fly, which is really nice.
 10. I've never played a peavey bass. Friend of mine has one of the PXD guitars and raves about them a lot, how are the Peavies? I Know you like them, but what was the quality like on them?
 11. Just noticed Adrian does cabs. That 2X12 is tempting... https://www.public-peace.de/index.php/amplification/maruszczyk-instruments/905-cabinet-pandora-2x12
 12.
So if the headstock is reversed from the standard, does that mean that the standard would have the tuners on the underside, if that makes any sense at all? Because if the tuners were on the underside then that's normally what I think of as a reversed headstock. Cracking looking bass by the way. My metal days are long behind me, but I've never lost my love of pointy guitars.
Indeed, yes. My logic was it's reversed to that, so that's where the phrase reversed headstock came from. Looks more like banana peel
 13.
Cracking bit of kit. All the sitting about yesterday just waiting must have been murder. Congrats on getting your dream bass.
It's honestly a blast to play, we're not an evil band. Honest. We sing about dragons and stuff, so I thought it was perfect, haha!
 14.
I have Just bought a CTM-100 from a member of this forum, I have been running on a Ashdown Mi2.0 for the past two years, which is a superb little compact amp, it has served me well and will continue to be my back up head. The guitarist in my band have both changed to all valve amps, so I felt that I should do the same, for prosperity and for the age old reason of "Why the Funk not". I did allot of research into watts, size, cost. I have always been attracted to the "little Bastard", but never pulled the trigger due to not being sure if it would be fit for purpose - after further research I settled on the CTM series, first buying a CTM-15 for recording and for a practice amp, I was blown away by that little thing, and I have used it at a couple of small acoustic gigs. The CTM-15 did not have enough beans for a full band, so I went to PMT to look at the CTM-30, at the cost of £399 it was within my price range, while I was in PMT they had a CTM-300 set up so I plugged in and ooooo boy I fell in love. Power, tone, growl and style. The CTM-300 was completely out of my price range, so i hunted the internet and found a CTM-100 for sale on Bass chat. I immediately snapped the sellers hand off. Once I got the amp (at 10:30pm on a Saturday night after a Sisters of Mercy gig) I rushed to my practice space to plug in and turn up, I was not disappointed in my purchase. I am running the amp through an Ashdown EVO410 cab, slowly eased the volume to 11 o'clock and the Gain to 9 o'clock, strummed the low B (5 string player) and I had to take a step back, because of the air this thing pushes. After three hours of playing and adjusting, I know in my heart of hearts i have found the amp that will be with me till arthritis sets in. Hell of an amp, I can not recommend it enough.
They're lovely aren't they?
 15.
I see from your couch shot that it's a Delano P pup - which model is it?
It is a Delano PVC 4 FE/M2! Very nice pickup.
 16. Thought I'd do a quick post on this, as I've just received this bass, but wanted to give some thoughts. I'm primarily a Metal bassist and I felt that there was a lack of any flying V shapes among the big boys, so I did some searching and a few brands came up, one of which was Mensinger, who are the same builders as Maruszczyk (say that after a few beers) under a different name. Which is great as you're still dealing with Adrian throughout the whole process, who is superb to deal with. I've got no qualms with him. However if you're going to email him, be prepared for some blunt sounding and short sentences, due to his English knowledge, but he was very good with communication and other than a slight barrier it was fine. In terms of specs I went with: Alder Body Green Burst Trapezoid inlays Maple Finger board set neck Delano PVC 4 FE/M2 Custom U shaped neck profile Reversed headstock (I don't have any photo's outside of this one, so here you go) After a Fed Eex mishap (these happen) I was meant to receive the bass yesterday, but I didn't and it came today. So I've only just picked it up. But wow, it's everything that I asked for. Including the little detail of the reverse headstock, I felt that the one the standard model has would have been a bit thrashy for what my band play, so I asked if I could get it reversed and more like a typical Jackson headstock and the response was "OK" Which I thought meant was for "OK I've acknowledged it" I forgot about it and got a nice suprise. The Delano pickup has a Stingray type edge to it. Which is nice, it's got a bit of grind but it's still very musical and articulate through my CTM 100. But I may swap it out for a Duncan SPB4. But I think I'll leave it in for now and give my ears time to adjust to it. It plays great with it being super smooth with no sharp frets or any issues, set up great. It's a 32" scale, so it feels weird for now compared to my Precision basses, which are all 34" but it's not as big as a difference as I thought it would and I just need some time to adjust. Wish I'd asked for Flats to be put on it, but I completely forgot and it has rounds, which are in fact are very nice. If a little clunky being used to rounds. As it's my second bass from Public Peace, I'm very impressed. More so with this one as they've pulled off my dream bass. I'd use them again for sure and depending on how my band take this one, I'm thinking of getting another made. It has to pass the gig and the rehearsal test, but I think it should with ease. Another top bass from Adrian and Public Peace.
 17. So my bass came with a flying V gig bag. Lovely! Just had a quick play of it. The Delano pickup in my bass almost has a stingray type grind to it. It's rather pleasant!
 18.
Yeah it has a gig bag included. Will be nice if its a short scale bag - do they even exist? Scrumpy MIke - it has the tobacco burst finish with the Musz. stock single coil pups. Fisheth - has it arrived?
Not yet, it missed the change over (Fed Ex's support was very helpful) However it's out for delivery.
 19. The gigbags that are supplied are very nice. However I've found they get heavier than my other ones when you put extra in them. No idea what sort of case my Mensinger will come with, it suggests a gig bag on the attachment Adrian emailed me, but we'll see. Got no idea how a V styled bass will fit into a standard gigbag. But like I say, we'll see
 20. Today was meant to be a NBD according to Fed Ex Tracking, but the tracking hasn't updated since midday so I have no idea where it is and I was meant to get it by six, which is an hour and fifteen mins away. We'll see.
 21.
Saw Magnum in Edinburgh recently. Not seen them live for over 20 years but got a feebie and despite Keyboardist Mark Stanway walked out 2 days prior it was pretty good. Bobs singing wasn't so great but he's knocking 70 so that's expected i suppose. Thunders Harry on drums too.....strange but hey.
Was thinking of going to that actually.
 22.
There's a bass and a treble knob. Not too tricky
I swear I was a drummer in a previous life
