1.
Not sure what a passive mindset is. I just like my bass to sound the same regardless of the lead I use. The active circuit is there to provide a low impedance path to the amplifier so that there is no tone loss or noise injection. A side effect is you can use active tone controls, but I am not really worried about those. THe pickups aren't active, they are normal passive pickups.
What I meant was, I'm a plug in and play kind of guy. Actives just have tons of buttons and switches and I'm confused by them all! My speesy comes tomorrow. If it's good I'll think about ordering another one!
 2. Glad to see Ashdown providing top notch customer support again. Was about to say I've never had a problem with them and I've been treated like family whever I've dealt with them. Nice to see it's on the way to getting sorted.
 3.
Barefaced Compact/Super Compact
Used this with an OBT. It sounded great
 4. How are you guys finding the actives? I'm stuck in the passive mindset and was wondering what you guys liked about Active pickups.
 5. I was expecting people to run away in terror at the pointyness. Glad to see it's got some love though, looking forward to playing it!
 6. Got a picture of the bass! It's gorgeous. Getting it sent to me on Monday! How would one embed it in the thread? The image extension isn't working for me! *Derp fixed*
 7. Am I right in thinking that Ashdown are the modern Trace Elliot?
 8. I normally take two basses to a gig without fail, I should start doing that for practices too...
 9. Sold a few things to basschatters, so thought I'd start now!
 10. Sold a couple of basses, just need to sell one more and I'm gonna be ordering a Jake I think. Already spoken to someone about a Jake 5 string today, gonna be lovely!
 11.
shut up... just when I was thinking that I knew what I wanted... the sparkly idea comes back to mind In an ideal world I'd get both finishes I am thinking of. But I can't... It's a hard life
Haha! Do it!
 12. Going to wait till the money for this bass comes through and then will discuss with Adrian specs... I'm wanting something sparkly...
 13.
Any idea what the current waiting time is?
Mines currently at about 13 weeks, but I'm aware that this is unusual for Adrian. Wood In Black got his at 7 but was quoted 12. So that can happen.
 14. You guys are not helping me with my wait for mine! I'm guessing it's going to come on a sleigh. However, I may have just sold a bass this week, so I can start looking at some options...
 15.
Ask them if they still want it and tell them you've got others waiting as well. At least, if they're strugglign to afford it, there's an opt-out option and you'll be able to shift said bass quick enough. It's a win-win situation for all parties involved.
Just done this, I'll keep you all updated.
 16.
It is a bit on the "pink" side... I'd prefer something more like the "purple flake" Modulus, but without the flake. G&L do a lovely purple as an option...
That is also very lovely!
 17.
Personally, the only person I'd be dropping it at would be the buyer. Not a third party, and I'd want cash there and then.
Yeah, I mean that was my concern too, but if they can pay by Paypal/Bank Transfer it's less of a worry for me.
 18. I'm selling a bass on one of these private selling group things and I've had tons of interest, one of which from someone is for a kid who's fifteen and it would be their Christmas present. We've semi-arranged to drop the bass off at his sisters, which is insanely close to where I live, I had to leave for a rehearsal last night and I posted "if you've got any more questions, feel free to message and I'll reply when I get back" As of now I've heard nothing back from them, but I have at least three people who are local wanting to come round and see it. What should I do here?
 19.
Thanks! I am on the web site right now!! High probability of an expenditure in the very near future!!
I'm in the same boat, especially as I need an amp to back up my CTM 100!
 20. Seems to be a Power Tube, changed some tubes and it's not been squealing, going to try Colin's suggestion again and take it to Martin at Stoneham anyway. Might be something seriously up.
 21.
I hadn't quite got as far as exact details, but the main one would be colour: purple with matching headstock! Passive, maple board with pearl blocks, probably his own pickups (as I've heard very good reports about them) or EMGs... I'm still pondering! Oh, and four string. A bit like this one.....
That is a gorgeous colour, my band would hate it if I played one like that though
 22.
Do any controls affect the volume or tone of the noise? Is the noise present on the effects send, or just on the speaker output? Working that out will help you to pin it down to one part of the circuit.
Doesn't make a different, noise is still there and my cat hates it. Gonna take it to a tech I think.
 23.
I'd try contact cleaner in the valve sockets first. Switch off amp and let the valves cool down; remove valve; spray cleaner (NOT WD40); replace valve with a slight circular wiggle motion to scrape the contacts together. Then, if this doesn't work, try swapping the pre-amp valves (the small ones) around and see if that makes a difference. If it does, you'll need to swap out a pre-amp valve. If any this makes no difference... take it to a tech.
Yeah, had a suspicion it was a preamp tube. I'll try this, if it fails I'll take it to Stoneham again. Needs a service anyway!
