1.
I received a reply from Adrian on Wednesday, just need to iron out a few details, but it looks like I'll be joining the club (at least in terms of tenterhooks) shortly.
Another one joins our legion! If I emailed Adrian, do you think I could get some pictures of the bass as it is now? Only cause I'm an impatient sod and want to know where it is in the pipeline
2. Hey guys, just wanted to bump this thread to say that Isabelle is a fantastic seller. Bought a Japanese Geddy from her a while ago and everything was smooth GLWTS!
3. Should have mine in a few weeks, can't wait for it!
4. Lovely bass! Merry Christmas Ahpook!
5. Thrash for sure, Nuclear Assaults Handle With Care changed the way I viewed bass tonality. Superb album for sure.
6.
Wanted a PJ for a new project and as an alternative to my Bob Glaub been watching the thread with interest and based on the comments about people's experience and quality of the instruments decided to order a jake from stock. Buying experience was excellent bass arrived 3 days after ordering it First impressions really light, excellent finish quality hardware , haussel pick ups are really hot , neck slimmer and shallower than I would normally choose but found it really easy to get used to Used at rehearsal last night sounded great in a full band setting, normally use flats but have left the rounds on and am liking the contrast. Sorry about the poor quality pictures but you get the idea
So you're the person who bought that one! Was looking at it and it went sadly, looks lovely!
7.
two of them fell off... repeatedly??? man, what do you do to that poor bass?
I honestly have no idea!
8. Doesn't bother me as long as I don't take it out of the house I think, as only I would really look at it!
9. Having a look at one of these tomorrow, due to someone selling one locally. I'll report back with if I decided to buy it or not!
10. As I already posted on the Facebook page, I'll be there. Hopefully with the custom, but if not I'll bring my two harris basses along, to see what you guys think of them!
11.
Anyone in London got a Jake I can try out? I was looking for a vintage P-bass, then thought about getting another Sandberg but now I'm tending towards one of these puppies....
I don't live near London sadly, but I'm sure someone in here or on a local Bass Players mart would have one for you to try!
12.
The Vintage Modified range from Squire seem to be very nice quality and great value for money. I'd recommend a try before you buy with them because the few I have played have varied a great deal in weight and wood grain quality - but find a good one and they're lovely.
Was about to suggest this.
13. Nice of you all to join us! Anyway, not long for mine left. For those that have had one sent to them, does Adrian double check to make sure the address is right or should I email him with my address and postcode in it and stuff?
14.
The neck profile is 'normal', which is narrower and shallower than I'm used to (my 71's and other Jake are chunky). I've got used to that straight away, though. It's purely just that when I look down, there's maple where I'm used to seeing a nice dark 'board. I'd rather see rosewood, that's all. It's a bit growlier than my other Jake, which could be down to different pickups, maple board, or none of the above. :-)
Really wish I could justify this... I'll put a guitar up for sale on MMNE and see if it sells, then I'd be able to afford it, seems like a good alternative to the custom I'm going for,
15.
Weak how? Do the break easily or just not stay in tune? I've not had much trouble with the latter yet?
two of the five tuners on my Squier VM5 Jazz have fallen off repeatedly and have broke. I'm having to replace them. It is a great bass, aside from that however.
16. Lovely basses. The tuners are the weak link however.
17.
8 Weeks! ... paah I still have 23 months to wait for my new Wal...
That's a long wait. I'd probably implode whilst waiting for it!
18. Yeah I've got 5/6 weeks left. Doesn't get any easier... There's an off the shelf one I'm saving for right now though, assuming it doesn't go after my birthday (In a couple of weeks) and I'll grab it. Depends on if it's still there, I could do it as a custom with a couple of different features, so I might send an email later, but ten weeks is a wait for someone who's an impatient git like myself!
19. Yeah same, but I've got a custom one of these coming in January... So...
20. WOT's maple bass has gone up for sale on one of the Local musicians marts over on FB if anyones interested. I'm tempted but I don't have the cash atm
21.
Thanks for that I would have taken a guess at Mar-oo-Sk (as in the first part of Sky) I saw a pic of your Elwood somewhere earlier, is it in this thread? at least I think it was yours... can't seem to find it :s the red one? looked lovely
Not mine! Not got mine yet, I\ll have mine by the end of January I hope!
22.
Mar-oo-chich. I wondered this too.
Thanks!
