1. Or mine Four weeks in and I'm getting tense... Do you get pictures of the build in progress through like with other builders or not?
2. Marucszyk? Maybe? You could spec it out exactly how you'd want it and it would still be in the range of a Mexican P bass...
3.
Trigger also pulled! I've ordered a passive Jake with the Jazzbucker in the bridge, their own pickups. Black body, black single ply pickguard, black hardware, matched headstock, ebony board with no front markers and deleted the model decal off the headstock, so it just has the round logo. I'm hoping to get a none more black, fire breathing rock machine out of it
Yum. Given me an idea for another one...
4. Another Maruszczyk despite not receiving my custom build yet...
5. Hey there! I'm a fellow Newcastle bassist. Welcome!
6. Looks lovely. Doesn't make the wait for mine any easier!
7. Yeah I'm the same, three weeks into a build. I hate these pictures, they're not helping the wait! But, I've just noticed what I've ordered is a bit different from what you guys have. So that's a bonus!
8. I really should stop checking this thread every few mins. Doesn't make the wait any easier
9.
What's the action like on it?
Pretty low, but action can be changed.
10.
Oh, I almost certainly will at some point! Just thought it might be nice to nerd out over the vagaries of different pick ups is all. What else are we going to do on a slow Monday afternoon?
This is Basschat after all
11. Lovely. More basses should have black block inlays.
12. Neonfly at Bloodstock 2010. Heard a couple of songs, liked what I heard. Went along to their set in a tiny tent with about forty or so other people. They blew me away and they're still at it five years later. They've supported Alice Cooper in Germany and some bands who are pretty big in the European Metal scene. Pretty nice guys, the gig after that I saw them in a bar in Doncaster. Playing to about five people, so they've come a long way since then.
13.
I'm having to work very hard to not email Adrian to spec out a fairly straight forward active Jake, with a bridge humbucker in addition to the split coil (it's either this, or a Sandberg VM4, which I think would be quite a lot more expensive.). I've wondered for quite a while now about the differences between PUP brands; as far as I can tell from the website I can choose Maruszczyk own-brand, Delano or Haeussel. My J-bass has Haeussels and they are very smooth, which is not what I want for this (though, that might be more of a function of their single coil-ness). Anybody able to comment on any differences between the Maruszczyk own-brand and the Delanos? Who got what, and why? It's hard to AB them between different youtube videos (and potentially different rigs), but my current feeling is that the Delanos have slightly more wallop...?
Could always email him and ask?
14.
I may be doing a bit of Maruszczyk-shaped trigger-pulling in the next couple of days. We'll see...
Lovely.
15.
Hold in there mate, has to be really soon now! I got an email from Adrian last Friday to say it was ready. Final payment later and it was shipped on Sunday and arrived in Dublin today Happy out to say they lease - reports to come!!
Pics?
16.
So today is the 'deadline' for my 10 week wait Hopefully i'll be receiving the finished email soon, maybe sometime this week, excited Si
Lovely. Almost got through the first week, the first two will be the hardest, right?
17.
I blame you lot! Been reading this thread for a couple of weeks and have today succumbed and put down a deposit on a 32" scale Jake 4p + in a natural finish and no pickguard. Control cavity round the back so it should look something like this: Except it's going to have a 38mm nut and 17mm string spacing so have had to go with monorail bridge units. You are naughty, bad people, all of you!
Might do this on my next one to be honest... Looks lovely.
18. Hey guys, what does two P pickups do for tone? Just curious as I've seen tons of P+J and P+HB basses, but not P+P. Can anyone explain?
19. Maruszcyk could probably do all that for you, for a reasonable cost. If you can try one it might be worth a punt.
20.
There are several of these models available from Fender Japan, 50's, 60's and 70's. GAK and RichTone amongst others, have had them for a couple of months. Think it's possible these were commissioned to run down parts in the factory? Or as a last swansong?
Ah now that's interesting! I didn't know about that.
