1. I saved up for and bought the mono box set so I could hear what I remember The Beatles sounding like when I was a child. Also I wanted to listen to them on my headphones and some of the 1980s stereo mixes I found difficult on the ears - 'Rubber Soul' for example. The more recent stereo cds were more sympathetic.I bought 'Rubber Soul' to compare and it was much easier to listen to. I like the idea of Giles Martin creating a stereo mix that is nearer mono and can possibly capture the best of both the intended mono mix (overseen by the band after recording) and the stereo mixes (often carried out weeks/months later without the band). Should get rid of the 'dead central spaces' on some of the 80s stereo versions when listening on headphones.
2. 'West Side' was a killer. But, once you've done it you know that you can do other challenging scores, etc. Doesn't make them any easier though! I thought 'Hairspray' (the year after WSS) would be a breeze in the park. It wasn't.
3. Hi Marc Thanks for the bump. Yes it is a nice looking bass. Cheers. The strings it came with are Fender® USA Bass 9050M Stainless Steel Flatwound, (.055, .070, .090 .105 Gauges). They have the same ball colours as D'addarios - so I guess that they are made by them. 4. Hi DodgeBass Thanks for your email. Looking to sell rather than trade at the moment. Cheers Rowlie
5. Are the Toneriders in the Matt Freeman P Bass?
6.
Have reluctantly decided to sell my Fender Standard Fretless Jazz Bass. It is a joy to play. Lightweight for a Jazz (8.64Ibs). Really lovely sound. Comes as sold - no case. I bought this in April 2015 from Guitarguitar. It is in absolutely perfect condition apart from small hardly noticable ding in the dark section of the bass (which I think was there when I bought it) and a weird ding I put in when I caught it on the edge of the table- d'oh! Only been gigged once - at a school fete! There is no wear to the fretboard as bass came with flats. Further information about the bass can be found here - http://intl.fender.c...ckguard-no-bag/ Price includes UK shipping. Sorry, no trades. I am based near Brighton. Cheers
Have reluctantly decided to sell my Fender Standard Fretless Jazz Bass. It is a joy to play. Lightweight for a Jazz (8.64Ibs). 7. Charlie Chaplin played the violin as a left handed. See: http://mentalfloss.c...-something-else My daughter plays the bass left handed but is right handed but has the strings as a right-hander would as this makes sense to her - lowest string at the bottom. I know of a few bassists who do this - Lee Pomeroy I think is one.
8. My daughter is right-handed but plays guitars as a leftie. No idea why! As I'm right-handed the strings are the usual way around. But - she likes the E at the bottom as she says this is logical - the lowest string at the bottom and the highest string at the top. Can't really argue with that logic! I tried...
