1. Good work hope it holds!
2. It's a cracking bass! I no longer have the need for a 5 or I would have considered getting it back. Who ever buys this will be very happy!
3. I have owned modern and vintage basses and the sound and quality can vary on both. I wasn't around in the 60s or 70s but having have Gibsons Fender, Ricky's and a Hofner the older wood does seem to add something to the tone! I dont know if it's right but I think it's down to the playing over many years with the vibration in the wood? The one thing I have learnt is I don't like active basses especially with pedals! Overdrive, fuzz or distortion just sounds plain wrong with any active bass I have played!
4. Looking forward to seeing this saved!
5. Billy would know better! 62 jazz refin and refret with some major mods plus the neck joint gap looks pretty poor all yours for 6grand!
6. Bit of an odd one this and a hefty price to go with it. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/162049144688
7. Think I'm going to just go and try it when I get a day off. Plus I'm sure I can find one or two others to play while im there so I can make an informed decision.
8. I'm afraid I will be a no show as I am unable to get rid of my shift at work 😟
9. yeah think that's going to be the only way! GAS is becoming a problem for me so I was hoping a birthday bass or YOB would add an extra layer of attachment so I want to keep hold of it. If that makes any sense
10. Cheers I think I could get on with the nut width if I got used to or if the neck is thinner then the width would be less of an issue but it's hard to say until you pick up the bass in question! It's a lot of money to risk I know I'm going to struggle to get to play both basses as they are both far away so it's going to be a call to decide which one to go try and possibly purchase.
11. So I have had a little cash for my birthday and I'm torn between a couple of options from the big F. The first is the 2015/16 postmodern Pbass from the custom shop the spec sounds great and from trying a couple of other custom shops the tone seems to go up a notch with them. The main selling point for me of this is the Jazz width neck. The second option is a Pbass 59 reissue from 1983 which is a YOB now the only thing with this is the nut width will be along the 1.7" wide. So the dilemma comes from a YOB bass which will have a special meaning but I know from trying another later version the neck width will take some getting used to for my little digits (not unplayable but the bass I tried not the one for sale sounded and played really nicely apart from the width at the nut) or a Pbass that should sound and play great with a nut width I'm used to but with no YOB specialness.
12. Your right I never expected that!
13. What's going on with that truss rod end!
14. No problem it's a bit far south for me but great looking basses The L1000 is right up my street.
15. Where abouts are you based?
16. D-bird lands and apparently although only a prototype at the moment the aim is to release it after tweeks at combustion level pricing!
17. PT4 all the way! really regret letting my LPB PT5 go but if I could afford it now black or shoreline gold with matching headstock and a nice red tort pickguard PT4 is top of list !!!! or maybe a JT4
18. It does look off on the treble side. Could it just be the photos though?
19. I didn't get round to plugging it in but it was new and the build looked good for around 400pounds? Did need a good setup though but that's every bass in a shop I have ever picked up even some very well respected ones.
20. Cheers I should go back for a play then I reckon.
21. Yeah it was a cracker kinda want it back now! The best thing about a secondhand bass is you don't have to worry about the first ding as much don't think that bass had anything apart from Some faint pick marks between the bridge and scratchplate from me.
22. So I had a spare 5mins at work today stuck in the centre of Hanley so popped into Academy of Sound they don't have many basses usually but now and again a secondhand instrument comes in or the odd fender that's worth a look. Strangely this time a Squire stood out from the crowd. It was an Inca silver classic vibe with matching headstock, looked really nice good neck pocket and for the money looked like a bit of a steal? Now I didn't have time to plug it in but does any Basschatter have any experience with theses are they worth a punt as a gigging back up as I'm tempted to go back and give it a play/maybe buy.
23.
Mine arrived this morning. Very impressed with it so far. The grain is deeper than i though, and its very nice. Everyone at work has gone "wow". Normally its more like "another bass!!" The action seems very high for me, but thats a personal thing and very easy to sort out once i get some new strings on it. Im still at work so not had a chance to plug it in, but i feel its definite a keeper.
I wonder if it's had a change in setup since I let it go as it was really low when I had it setup up with groundwounds?
24.
So I went along to Wunjos on the strength of this thread, and came away with http://s1128.photobucket.com/user/h4ppyjack/library/Basses%20CURRENT/Fender%20Precision%202015%20Sandblasted So why did I buy it? Was it the great-looking body and lustrous colour? Was it the light weight and impeccable neck? Was it the range of tones on offer - not two but three? Or was it the chance to own a basic, simple instrument that requires a 7-word name. Ladies & Gentlemen, I give you the Fender American Standard Limited Edition Sandblasted Precision.
they are cracking basses I didn't realise I would influence anyone but this is making me regret letting mine go but it sounds like it's going to a good home with Dave_Bass5
25. I think it was just the standard tone control. I did love the bass I just find P width necks a bit to much for me even with this being the slim C. Long story playing covers thought I needed a 5 went to David at Cotswolds brought a Shuker (part ex the P) but have since Gone back to my comfort zone with Jazz and Ricks. If I come across the sandblasted Jazz I would really consider one as they are that good!
