1. Guns & Roses and Chic for me. I love Duff McKagan's melodic playing and Bernard Edwards has an amazing groove, but I really don't care for their main bands. Although I appreciate both have played with other projects.
 2. Bruce Springsteen. Second rate pub singer at best.
 3.
I feel that a review while I'm still in the honeymoon period wouldn't be right so I'm holding off for the moment, though I am warming towards it. As I've said, if I can get to the SE Bash I'll bring it along but I've other commitments on that day currently which I'm still trying to get out of. If I can attend it'll be available to whoever wants to give it a try and hopefully we can get some sort of consensus.
Wise words about waiting for the honeymoon period to end before objectively reviewing it. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, and those of other B.C. members too
 4. You say " ..... doesn't have the classic warm TE sound we either love or hate.... " Despite being very much in the latter camp (my personal experience of old TE gear being more bright than warm) I'm still intrigued as to what this little chap could potentially deliver especially at gig like volumes. How would you describe what it sounds like, either compared to TE of old, or in it's own right?
 5. This is out little number - Candy Slam In answer to your questions; i) I cobbled it together myself mostly in my lunch breaks. I'm no graphic designer but I think that it conveys the fun vibe of the band. ii) Hosted on Moonfruit iii) Not sure how much of a real world difference it makes. According to the hit counter the site sees around 5000 hits a year so I guess someone must be looking at it. Most of our gigs are either repeat bookings, word of mouth of from people who have seen us play. The others in the band prefer to handle promotion via Facebook so it's a combination of factors for us.
 6.
Downloading Toneprints - yup I can see that works for both recording and rehearsals. But we would still be limited to one toneprint per set rather than being able to modify on the fly in a live situation - bandmates and audience aren't going to put up with us getting our mobile phones out, dialing the TC website, finding the right toneprint and then downloading in the middle of a set are they (particularly when they might not even notice the difference) and definitely not mid-song!
In that sense, it is no more limited than just about every other stomp box currently available, with a couple of exceptions
 7.
The TC Toneprint stuff has always intrigued me both on the sub'n'up and the Spectracomp. But my sense is that you need to be quite adept with computer software / IT skills to get into the detail of something like the editor software on Toneprint? So if you're not a dab hand at IT is the Toneprint stuff actually really easy to use? e.g. how much time did you have to spend in terms of connecting up the pedal to the computer, loading and editing the software, unplugging and re-connecting to try out on your bass and amp; keeping the sound you had just managed to achieve in your head whilst going back to the computer and reconnecting everything to make further edits to refine the sound. [Repeat] Until you have got the tone you like.
You don't have to go anywhere near the Tone print editor software if you don't want to. I had a quick look when plugging my Spectracomp in and there are tons of parameters to configure and hours of fun to be had - but only as long as you know what you're doing. And I don't, so I backed out pretty quickly. But that's a limitation of me, not the software As long as you have a smartphone you have loads of different options to try simply using the free downloadable Tone Print app. TC add new tone prints all the time too so you can completely reconfigure the tone and sound of your pedal in just a few seconds, it's so simple. That makes each and every tone print enabled pedal incredibly versatile.
 8. I'm not sure what Ebay's rules and fine print say on situations like this, but my understanding is that if the seller hasn't put a reserve price on an item then they are obliged to let it go at the final bid price. Might be worth checking through their rules or at least opening a dispute? Incidentally, has the headstock been errr, upgraded?
 9. That's a good thorough review Assuming the P pup is voiced like a traditional P then I wouldn't expect too much in the way of inherent top end in the tone anyway as P's tend to be more about mid-range punch than top end. But there should be more enough there unless you're looking for that glassy high end, in which case you probably wouldn’t have gravitated towards a passive P in the first place! Regarding the boomy mids on the 5th to 9th fret on the A string and weaker notes on the G, that sounds like it could possibly be an eq issue, perhaps? Dialling in a touch of upper mid may help to alleviate the weaker notes on the G string. If not, see if there's any way to easily raise the side of the pickup that covers the G string and just it up a mm or 2 to see if that helps? As for the problem notes on the A, maybe a slight cut of the lower mids might help calm things down? I'd try simple things like this before considering any drastic action!
 10.
DR are good strings Tecamp Puma is a good amp, but I always feel it's a little too 'polite' in that it will never push itself forward in the mix, but you have great basses, and a great cab. Either a Preamp pedal or pick ups of your choice just may be your thing

If vou like a sandberg try the VM, it may get you want you want
If you think the Puma is a little too polite, it might be worth considering changing the amp, maybe? My VM4 played on the neck pup alone punches for days and slices through the mix a treat.
 11. I've just received a monstrous Peli type hard case from Dan for my musical odds and sods and the deal has been a breeze and a pleasure. As has been said many times already, he's a great guy, very helpful and friendly with his comms and was happy to answer a couple of quite daft questions from me before we agreed the sale The case itself is big and bulky and quite heavy considering it's basically a giant Tupperware box but it was very well packaged. It was also in as new condition as had been listed. Another deedileee-doodileee and a big Magpie thumbs up from me
 12.
Vinegar and a swab/cotton bud will neutralise the damage caused by battery acid..(That horrible blue residue) I use 5 percent white vinegar...It won't damage the contacts... Well it didn't on my Sennheiser In ear receivers..(Stupidly left the batteries in them for 3 months post gig...idiot...idiot..idiot..). You can polish the contacts carefully after if you wish, but removing the residue allowed the contacts to work again. be careful on circuit boards and don't panic if it fizzes on the contacts..that's the chemical reaction..it also cleaned up the residue from the plastics a treat... I think there are youtube vids available for doing this...
I had a battery leak in in the transmitter of my wireless system a couple of years ago and managed to get it cleaned up using this method. I used a bottle of supermarket own brand white vinegar that only cost a few pence and some cotton buds. The acidity of the vinegar neutralises the alkalinity of the residue and breaks it down. Keep applying the vinegar until the gunk has gone. I don't know if it's essential but I then cleaned up the affected area using a cotton bud with a tiny amount of deionised water. Obviously if you do this you need to make sure everything is is bone dry again before using it - I used the wife's hair dryer to blow warm (not hot) air into the unit for a minute or 2. Other than that I didn't use anything else on the contacts and although there looks to be a tiny bit of pitting on them, the unit itself has worked perfectly ever since.
 13. Great review, looking forward to hearing your thoughts on what it can deliver at gig volume.
The mute button is big and glows bright Luke sky walker light sabre green when engaged.
If Form Factor base their marketing campaign on this statement alone these will sell by the truck load
 14. I've got a VM4 with Sandberg's own pickups and would say that " ... a Pbass sound but modern, similar to a jbass but punchiest. Clear cutting with the band." pretty much sums up the the tone that I get with mine What amp and cab(s) are you using? What eq setting are you using? Any effects or anything else in your signal chain? In my experience the bass ought to be able to deliver the sound you describe without changing the pickups, but as Cuzzie says above;
This post is a massive can of worms as no matter what anyone else says its what you ears want ... But on this, I think you have to just research what is out there and go and listen and see what your ears tell you. Otherwise VS4 is a lovely bass
15. You can't go wrong with a decent laptop bag, especially if you can get your hands on one of the old fashioned brief case style ones. I've got one and it is way more sturdy and has more protection and padding than any of the overpriced official amp bags that I've seen. It's probably not as sturdy as a hard case but for loading in and out of the car it's more than man enough for the job. I cart my wireless system about in a Stanley plastic drill case that is lined with foam and the has lasted for over 10 years without cracking or breaking. I seem to recall the DG amp is quite diddy so you might be able to squeeze it into something similar?
 16.
Krow is the 3 eyed Raven.......
Shouldn't that be 3 eyed Krow?
 17. There is one venue we play that is always a really good gig with most people there to enjoy the music and to have a good time, but the venue has an occasional undercurrent or vibe that something is about to kick off. Once or twice in 5 or 6 years of regular gigging there, unfortunately it has done. But the door staff are fast and efficient in dealing with anything, often before it kicks off. But it still takes the edge off the evening. Because of this (and because it's a damn fine bass irrespective of price) I have a 'stunt bass', a 10 year old Peavey Zodiac. It cost me around £200 new and it's the one instrument that I'm not too precious over. Obviously I don't want it to get deliberately damaged, but if it does, at least it isn't one of my more expensive basses. It has paid for itself many times over in the time I've had it so should the day ever come I (hopefully) won't be too upset. It has a good weight too should I ever need to do a Keef with it
 18. For me it has to be Bronski Beats Small Town Boy as covered by Paradise Lost. They have managed to turn the sng on its head and yet retain the feel of the original. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=f9XiD_2K7-Q
 19.
Thanks for the welcome. Have friend's in N'ampton but I'm further east between Corby and Peterborough
We're definitely not neighbours in that case
 20. Alright chap? Another east Northants resident here. Who knows, we're probably neighbors!
 21. Think this has already been mention by someone else but it gets another shout from me. Nothing flash, just a simple, repetitive melody that compliments the song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuezNswtRfo
 22.
Well I knew that you had a treasure trove of great bass lines gleaned over 30 years of bass playing that the world would be the richer place for you sharing...although I'm pretty sure I'd given up nagging you to do so ages ago!
How about this one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnM9X0IgUmg
 23.
Love it! So you wouldn't describe yourself as a fence sitter on this issue? I'm guessing you wouldn't be interested in getting a TE second hand then, perchance?
Come on Al, you know diplomacy is the least developed of my (admittedly limited) social skills
 24. After weeks of constant bullying from a certain Mr Al Krow, I'd like to add throw one of my favourite bass lines into the mix. It's nothing complex, but the simple, repetitive, hypnotic groove courtesy of the legendary Jah Wobble is a work of minimalistic genius. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFxpL5TpZH0
 25. Having covered a few CH tracks in previous bands, I love his style and groove and especially his use of 2nds, which orthodox theory teaches us to only use as passing notes!
