  1. Many thanks for your thorough reply! I usually use passives but actives are handy when you favour the bridge pickup and need a bit of extra oomph!
  2. It’s a nice Jazz. The P now has a 74 sibling - yeah that’s a special P. Do you still have the custom shop jazz?
  3. Thanks for all the comments. Ideally I’d be looking for something with a small footprint. I think I’ll delve into my spectracomp and see if I can program that to something similar!
  4. You’re not in a Lizzy tribute by any chance are you?!
  5. I’ve been playing about with an old Trace AH300 SMX amp at home and finding I’m really loving the compression on it. It’s not exactly transparent but it gives me a tone I really like. Does anyone know of a pedal that does that tone - I’m not necessarily worried about dual band - I’m not even sure if the dual band thing is part of what i like! I’ve got a TC Spectracomp pedal - if I started exploring the editing options on that, would that possibly get me there? TIA
  6. Thanks fella. It’s starting to get a bit roadworn in places!
  7. A late report on Tuesday’s gig in Coulson at the Tuesday Night Blues Club. This was a Del Bromham and Friends rather than a Stray gig. It didn’t get off to a great start when I belted my left hand pinkie loading my cab into a car. I immediately iced it and added some cocodamol to my man bag! A nice jam free drive to the venue and quick set up and sound check. We had Simon Taylor doing the sound so a decent result in that department was a given! I used my old AVRI Jazz procured from Old Horse Murphy of this parish into my Bugera and Schroeder 2 x 12. We had a great night, decent crowd and went down a storm. Finger was painful but I soldiered on! Happy Daze! Ouch! Of course the electrics are fine! the changing cupboard! Job done!
  8. Milton Keynes. We’ve got the Theatre for watching shows, The Stables for tributes and heritage acts and The Craufurd Arms for younger stuff and touring rock acts. Stony Stratford, which is part of MK has a thriving folk scene and three or four pubs that regularly have gigs and open mics. There’s also various estate pubs that have bands and some pubs in the older parts that have been swallowed up by the city, Newport Pagnell and Fenny Stratford come to mind. We’re also only half an hour from Northampton and Bedford so yeah, a good place to be.
  9. I've hummed and hawed about this for a while but I really don't need four short scales in my collection. I've gigged this a bit previously with a covers band, but more recently it's been my 'just in case' bass with Stray. However I did recently gig it on a rock cruise where we supported Michael Schenker - I took it because of it's size and relative low value and needing to go in the hold on the flights out and back!! It's a lovely resonant instrument and it's capability really outplays it's cost. Punchy and versatile. It's been fitted with a high mass bridge but happy to include the original if the new owner wants it. It has been fitted in the past with SD quarter pounders but I've reinstalled the original pickups for sale. It's in really good condition with no major knocks or dings. There's some very light scratches on the back that were difficult to photograph but I've tried my best. It's set up with rounds with a medium/low action. Did I say it was punchy and resonant? Oh yeah - no issues with it at all, whoever buys it will, I think be pleasantly surprised how good it it! Unfortunately, this is too similar to my Mustang PJ for me to justify keeping both. i think I'd have kept it if it wasn't for the lovely neck and maple fretboard on the Mustang. I'm based in Milton Keynes but could possibly deliver to a station along the West Coast Main Line out of Euston so long as it wasn't going to take me all day. It doesn't come with a case but I have packing so could post it at your cost and risk, but you'd have to arrange the courier. £120 Here's the specs from Ibanez: https://www.ibanez.com/eu/products/detail/tmb30_1p_03.html And pics:
  10. I tried to get a replacement driver for my Eden 1x12 cab from G4M recently. I’ve got a feeling they’ve just bought up all the old stock and selling it off - could be wrong though.
  11. I’ve got a pair of BB2’s but I’ve only had the chance to gig them singly. I’d say one of them would be ample. I recently picked up a Schroeder 1212L. It’s a small 2 x 12 with tweeter and one of the drivers is angled at 45 degrees to save space. It’s almost as small as a BB2 and only marginally heavier. I got mine SH as part of a deal but equivalent to £150. I got to say I’m blown away by it. I used it when we played at A New Day Festival and honestly preferred it to the Ampeg 8x10 I used the following night. It’s got a low mid hump baked in so it doesn’t sound great in isolation, but in a band mix it really cuts through. I’ll be using my BB2’s on Friday week at a local theatre gig, not cos I need to, just because I can, but I can honestly see me moving the BF stuff on in the future as I’m loving this Schroeder so much!. If you could find one of these schroeders for a similar price you’d be laughing!
  12. I had one of these, I found the eq really versatile. Nice little amps!
  13. Loving the chandelier hologram motif! Nice bass, good luck with the sale!
  14. Played a local pub last night depping with a covers band I used to play regularly in. Used my AVRI Jazz with QPs through my Veyron tube into my Schroeder 1212L. I’ve been experimenting using different mid frequency centres on the Veyron and finding that using the lowest (220 hz I think) cuts me through the mix the best. Bass dialled right back, plenty of mid and top to taste and I had a corking tone. We had a good crowd and played and went down well, and home by 1140pm Happy Daze!
