  1. Lent mine to our support act at The 100 club last Friday. A Classic Rock band. Sound engineer asked him to turn it down!!
  2. This one's really nice, taken at Stray's recent gig at The Stables in Milton Keynes.
  3. In my current band, my band mates are best friends. In most of my other bands they've been friends. I've had a couple of 'colleague' band mates. I've been pretty lucky.
  4. Only to try it out. It's only been used a couple of times to power a passive PA.
  5. Just thought I'd post on here for anyone doubting whether an Elf is loud enough to gig with. Last night we were playing at The 100 Club in Oxford St. Hugh - The bass player from the support band - the excellent 'Pig Iron' had asked if he could use my rig, obviously to save bringing a car into London. I'd set up my Elf as a spare and sat it on top of the amp I was using. After we'd sound checked, I had the idea of swapping the amps over so that Hugh could use the Elf and dial his sound in without us having to worry about getting my settings back at changeover. I put this to Hugh and he was quite happy - I was more than willing to let him use my main rig if he didn't think the Elf would be loud enough. Anyway - it was set up going through a Barefaced Big Baby 2, which was sat on top of a little Eden EX112. Hugh was playing a Rik straight into the amp. It sounded like a Rik should in a rock band, warm - defined and growly. Any worries I had about it being loud enough were dispelled when the sound engineer asked him to turn the rig down! It sounded great. So if you're playing with PA support and the stage isn't mahoosive, and you're using efficient cabs - then yes - the Elf is plenty loud enough.

  8. I've recently bought a Bugera Veyrom 1001T, planning to write a review soon. Cost about £260 - the 'M' version is cheaper (and probably more versatile). I wanted an old school tubey warmth and this delivers. It's as loud as you'll probably need - I'll be using it for all kinds of venues - and judging by users comments, seemingly pretty reliable. Gigged it for the first time at Cornwall Rocks festival on Sunday and had s number of compliments on my tone!
  9. Loved playing there. Had a gig cancelled once when a car crashed into the side of the pub!
  10. Parting out a Jazz Bass which is based around a MIJ Geddy Lee Body. I've not been too sure about pricing - so just gonna suck it and see for the time being. I'll be as honest as I can about the bits and can provide further pics on request. With regard the vintage parts, these came from a bass that I dated to 74 via the pot codes and neck stamp (the neck has since gone). Geddy Lee MIJ Body Not sure of the year but bought off here around ten years ago. It's been refinished by Andy Viccars in Nitro Olympic White which has since aged to a gorgeous cream colour. There are inevitable dings and scratches which add to it's character. Pickguard included. Some buckle rash on the back and bottom - hard to photograph but hasn't broken the paint - £250Price drop £225 Price drop £200 1974 Fender Machine Heads, Ferrules and String Tree In good working order. One of the large screws appears to be a replacement. Machine Head fitting screws included but they're a bit of a miss mash so not keen to say they're original. - £125Price drop £100 sold 1974 Jazz Bass Control Plate In good working order. Pots date to 51'st week of 1974. Messy soldering on top of pots, other joints all appear original. Screws included which may or may not be original - £125 Price drop £100 sold All prices are collected from Milton Keynes - I'm willing to post at buyer's cost/risk.
  11. Hey buddy. This must've been a tough decision but I'm glad to see you've put your health first. I'm not that far away if you want to hook up for a coffee and chat.
  12. Played 'Cornwall Rocks' last night with Stray. First night out for me with my recently acquired Rick 4003 and new Bugera Veyrom 1001T. Shall add a review later but well impressed with it. Saw some good bands Inc Voodoo Vegas and Massive Wagons but was really impressed with 'Collateral' who were fab. On the bus now for the long trip home zzzzz
  13. Something going on on the back of the top horn?
