1.
Ooh looks great interesting, what's the switch for?
To switch between pickups. Neck/both/bridge :-) . . . . like the yamaha BB basses
2. For reluctant sale is my 1976 Ibanez PJ Bass. This is very heavily roadworn and has obviously had a hard life. Having said that, it's in full working order, is mostly original and plays and sounds like an absolute peach. I've included a catalogue shot describing the bass here . . . . Sadly the truss rod cover is missing. The nut is also not original. The one on the bass when i got it had been cut too low so has been replaced and set up by Andy Viccars. As you can see from the pics it's set up with a nice low action, which is rattle free. Strap pegs are the dunlop locking type. The pups and electronic components are original. It has had various pups swopped in and out of it so the soldering isn't original and the wiring could benefit from some tidying. Having said that, it works correctly and is not overly noisy. I'm not sure what it is about this bass, but it has an amazing amount of bottom end when using the 'P' pickup. Roll off the tone and you're in absolute rub a dub heaven. It also has the full range of tones you would expect from a PJ. There's a score or crack on the topside of the neck - pictured. this has been completely stable for the time I've had it - at least five years - possibly more. If your a lover of black n maple, like the vintage vibe and want a killer bass then this is for you. It's difficult to price these basses, so I've based it on what it's worth to me. I don't really want to see her go but feel the need to cut my collection down, so if she doesn't sell at this price I won't be too disappointed. Pricing at £350. UK sales only. The truss rod works. There are no significant dead spots. Tuners are fine. Weight is a medium 9.2lb Collection from Milton Keynes is preferred. I can post at buyer's cost/risk but it would have to be through a company where I could take the bass to their delivery point. The only trade I'd consider would be for a Warwick Fortress. 3.
Weird. I took my plate off to have a quick looky and the screws were really nice n firm. I'm no expert, but I don't think the wood is soft. It seems to me that the drill holes are slightly too big, or have been drilled twice in slightly different positions, then filled in a bit.
4. Oiled mine. Lovely figured board. The wood that's visible on the worn bits of body looks quite highly figured too.
5. Big Baby 2 should be with me by the end of next week or thereabouts :-)

7. Mine arrived today, also sealed. The neck had a lot of relief in it. I've put half a turn into the truss rod and it's now practically straight. Action dropped by doing this to a tad over 2mm at the 12th with not a hint of rattle anywhere so for the time being I've left it as it is. The back volume knob was slightly crooked so I've straightened it, but now it's hard to move the tone knob without the volume knob moving. Any tips? A nice 8lb 8oz for mine. The thing plays and sounds bloody awesome. I've also got an avri 64 and these are supposed to have the same pups, but this one sounds much more authoritative. It's hard to compare as I've now changed the pups in the 64 and it has flats but I don't ever remember it sounding like this. I seldom buy instruments unseen but I struck lucky with this one. No dead spots and I reckon it's the best Jazz I've ever owned. Happy boy!
8.
You were kinda born in 2016?! Kids these days eh, they are all so natural using IT.
Well I'm never ever gonna be able to afford a real 61 Jazz!
9. Just ordered one from gear4music. Htf did that happen?
10. I'll have it mate. Pm me your bank deets. Does the price inc postage?
11. Ps . . . I ordered a big baby 2 rather than a compact . . .
12. Just waiting for the speaker to arrive then she shall be built n delivered :-)

14. Whereabouts in London and what's the weight please?
15. I've got one. I like it lots. I've put a Beringer graphic in the fx loop for added flexibility.
16.
Here's a link to a video put up by landlord from a gig a couple of weeks ago:- https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1157743877603020&id=224894804221270 And this one posted by a punter at the same gig from outside the marquee:- https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10154868229452598&id=588604131173413 It's the Big Twin g3 being driven by a markbase sa450 500w map. Bear in mind you can dump 1600w into it. The band are seriously loud, going through a barefaced pa, just two cabs, light enough to throw, 800w rms each. There's no bass in the pa.... This is last night's superb gig in Hastings, another punter, this time his phone couldn't deal with the SPL, place was rammed with very up for it happy dancing punters and a couple of grizzled bass heads who reckoned it was the best bass tone they'd heard the low B was astounding apparently - one of them is now trying to sell his big heavy Ashdown rig to get a big twin. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10154248515748279&id=588604131173413&notif_t=page_wall&notif_id=1466940198861663&ref=bookmarks
Certainly cutting thru the mix a treat!
17.
I notice that you have a GK MB500. I recently bought one to use with my BF compact and it's a great loud and punchy combination.
Good to know :-)
18.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKXlhpeb6wI
😂😂😂
19. Thanks for all your comments folks. I've changed the goal posts a bit and pulled the trigger on a big baby 2 :-)
20. Ok, from what I remember . . . . Quotes like 'you can't beat the laws of Physics', 'we get a lot of those cabs in as people!e want to trade them in', 'tney don't feel very substantial and that's reflected in the sound'. Now these comments go against all! I've read about the cabs, and they were made by someone who would have a vested interest in selling me stock from the shop so I'm not going to take them at face value without some investigation. . . . . Hence the thread here.
21. I've been humming and hawing about buying a BF Super Compact to downsize from my Eden nemesis 4 x 10. The BF website favourably compares a super compact with the sound you can get from a 4 x 10 but I'm quite sceptical to be honest. I've read good reviews about the BF stuff and was about to pull the trigger when I was put off by some comments from a staff member at a well respected bass shop. I've not been able to get through to BF to chat about it and they've not rung me back despite me leaving a message. Having said that I'm sure they're pretty damn busy the way the company has taken off. So - is there anyone out there who's bought a super compact and been disappointed and moved it on? Is there anyone out there who's replaced a 4 x 10 with a super compact and been happy with the change. For info I play general rock n pop covers through Jazz basses mainly into a GK MB500 or old Trace heads. Any thoughts or info muchly appreciated.
