1.
Hi Bob Another Milton Keyney here, and Colin beat me to it re Andy V, if you want any help re gear gimme a PM and maybe we can meet up and have a play
Do I know you Oopsdabassist? This is Curvy!
2. Welcome Bob - I'm from sunny Milton Keynes as well - we're lucky to have a great music scene here. If you need any help with your set up - I would thoroughly recommend local luthier Andy Viccars - the guy is an absolute legend :-) Colin
3. Omg!
4. Can anyone recommend a decent gigbag for a short scale bass -ie Bronco/Mustang/Musicmaster type bass please?
5. So what you gonna put on your iPad to replace this stuff if i may be so nosey?!
6. Supported Madness at Northampton Cricket Ground. My finest hour. I reckon at least half of the 12000 crowd were there :-)
7. Train driver/instructor here. Regular weekend gigs. Would love music to be a full time income but got a feeling I've got the best of both worlds, financial security and gigging. Happy days
8. I sold a bass to Marinus. Good comms, he arranged courier - all went smoothly - happy days :-)
9. I had to put quite a bit of tension into my trussrod over a couple of days to get it right bit no other set up issues. 1.25 mm seems an extremely low action. At what fret was that measured?
10. I can vouch for Andy Viccar's work - he's refinished a couple of mine in Nitro and they look awesome! Free bumpy!
11. This is now sold subject to the usual - thanks for looking!
12.
A question for the fellow Flea owners re the aging of the pickguard. Is everyone's pickguard aged as strong as the one in this picture below? To be clear: this is a shot from an online store. It's not my bass and actually, in comparison, my pickguard looks quite shiny and new (unfortunately)
Mine looked like that but only because it was covered in some kind of dust - I could imagine a pile of them stacked in the room they were doing the relicing! The dust cleaned off just leaving it looking a bit lacklustre - which i guess is deliberate?
13. Well I'm pleased to say I got a good one. I did two gigs with it this weekend, and without a doubt it's the best Jazz Bass I've owned. Does anyone know whether the pickups are the same as those in the AVRI 64 reissue? What are people's thoughts on drilling the holes for the covers and thumbrest - is this likely to devalue any future resale or affect potential collectivity should they someday obtain collector's item status?
14. Feedback suppressor/Parametric EQ Good working condition complete with instructions. A few minor marks - mainly been racked. £50 collected from Milton Keynes, £60 posted in the UK. No trades - UK sales only please. 15. Despite having three people in the queue for this, none of whom have viewed it in the flesh, it's now back up for sale.
16. This is now sold subject to payment
17.
Ooh looks great interesting, what's the switch for?
To switch between pickups. Neck/both/bridge :-) . . . . like the yamaha BB basses
18. For reluctant sale is my 1976 Ibanez PJ Bass. This is very heavily roadworn and has obviously had a hard life. Having said that, it's in full working order, is mostly original and plays and sounds like an absolute peach. I've included a catalogue shot describing the bass here . . . . Sadly the truss rod cover is missing. The nut is also not original. The one on the bass when i got it had been cut too low so has been replaced and set up by Andy Viccars. As you can see from the pics it's set up with a nice low action, which is rattle free. Strap pegs are the dunlop locking type. The pups and electronic components are original. It has had various pups swopped in and out of it so the soldering isn't original and the wiring could benefit from some tidying. Having said that, it works correctly and is not overly noisy. I'm not sure what it is about this bass, but it has an amazing amount of bottom end when using the 'P' pickup. Roll off the tone and you're in absolute rub a dub heaven. It also has the full range of tones you would expect from a PJ. There's a score or crack on the topside of the neck - pictured. this has been completely stable for the time I've had it - at least five years - possibly more. If your a lover of black n maple, like the vintage vibe and want a killer bass then this is for you. It's difficult to price these basses, so I've based it on what it's worth to me. I don't really want to see her go but feel the need to cut my collection down, so if she doesn't sell at this price I won't be too disappointed. Pricing at £350. UK sales only. The truss rod works. There are no significant dead spots. Tuners are fine. Weight is a medium 9.2lb Collection from Milton Keynes is preferred. I can post at buyer's cost/risk but it would have to be through a company where I could take the bass to their delivery point. The only trade I'd consider would be for a Warwick Fortress. 19.
Weird. I took my plate off to have a quick looky and the screws were really nice n firm. I'm no expert, but I don't think the wood is soft. It seems to me that the drill holes are slightly too big, or have been drilled twice in slightly different positions, then filled in a bit.
20. Oiled mine. Lovely figured board. The wood that's visible on the worn bits of body looks quite highly figured too.
21. Big Baby 2 should be with me by the end of next week or thereabouts :-)
