1.
Retains it's value indeed? Do I want a thumb or a ray/L2000/corvette $$ is the question. Me likey thumb!
Unfortunately they don't hold their value at the moment - not sure why cos they're very well made and quite different from most other basses. I'll probably keep my corvette - the ergonomics are just a bit wrong for me being a dyed in the wool Jazz Bass man!
2. 06 Warwick Bolt On Thumb 4 String for sale. 2006. This is in very good condition, plays and sounds fantastic. A previous owner changed the straplocks and shagged up when screwing one into the top horn, breaking the screw. I've had this has been professionally repaired by a luthier with a practically invisible plug - a picture shows this below. One or two very minor wear marks - nothing significant. This includes all the usual goodies, wax, tools, booklet folder etc and a Warwick Rockbag. Fitted with a 'Just a Nut II' with the tabs intact. The original straplocks have been replaced with Dunlop straplocks. No trades on this I'm afraid as I'm looking to reduce my collection. The bass currently resides in a local music shop for a commission sale. Price on this is £525 firm - collection from Milton Keynes. I'd rather not post. Here's what Warwick have to say - edited to reflect this older model: Thumb Bolt-on The body of ovangkol has an arched top and a concave back. The three-piece ovangkol neck is neatly and securely fastened to the body. The gently arched wenge fingerboard with 24 ultra-hard jumbo frets offers a high degree of playing comfort. The Thumb is characterized by its superb attack and well defined mid growl. The electronics give the player fast freedom to vary the timbre. Ideally equipped, and finished with loving to detail, the Thumb Bolt-on bass is a sound investment and retains its value superbly. 3. Received a Sandberg California JM4 in exchange for Markbass head, Westone bass and some wonga. Bass was as described (perfect) communication was good, and Geoff is a nice guy to deal with
4. Thanks Loz - crikey that was a bit cheap for the 1x15 combo - not really what I wanted to hear. Mine sounds just great but it's such a brute to get into and out of the car!
5. I know the Marshall DBS series amps are quite well thought of. Could someone help me in pinning a value on a DBS 74210. It's a 200 watt 4 x 10 combo in immaculate condition with a Marshall cover. Cheers Col

8.
Fender caused all this nonsense back in the '80s by naming the stack-knob reissue a '62 reisssue' when, in fact, the stackers were made between '60-'61 with a few leftovers being punted out in '62. It should really, therefore, be called the 1960 reissue. The 62RIs coming out if Japan should, as stated, have the spiral bridge and grounding strap. As far as I know they're all alder though would not discount the use of basswood. They'll have the dot neck and three pot config.
Stacker - they do two models from Japan - I know cos I've got one of each - Fretless Alder - us pups, spiral bridge, vintage reverse tuners and strap peg on the back of the headstock, and a fretted basswood one, jap pups, normal bridge, lightweight tuners, no peg on the back of the headstock one. The alder model is obviously more desirable and a more true to life replica, however the basswood ones can be nice as well. Col
9. Mr Delirium - yes if you raise the cash, get in touch. I'm getting a better decal put on the headstock . . . . metallic ink . . . . HOW MUCH? oh - $20 for two! I reckon I'll punt the spare out at around £50 what do you reckon PMSL!!
10. If it's got the spiral bridge it sounds kosher to me. A far as the jap ones are concerned, the cheaper range with the basswood bodies have non spiral bridges, smaller mounts on the machine heads, and no strap button on the back of the headstock. They're not as desirable as the alder bodied basses but can still be quite good - my 'go to' bass is a jap basswood one. Find out where it's made (headstock or back of neck near body)and maybe post serial number ob here for further info. As previously stated - block necks come later and stacked knobs are pre 62. Keep us posted!
11. Looks like it's only a cap in the power supply that's failed on mine - not sure Eden can be blamed for a faulty component - and at least it's repairable! Fingers crossed!
12. OK guys - had a rethink, and to be honest, there are some nice US standard jazzes on here for just £50 more so I don't think this is gonna sell. I don't really want to split her so I'm gonna use and abuse her and maybe sell one of my others.

14. That head's a bargain for anyone who lives up that way! Free bump!
15.
there is a section on the MB site in the faq's section about using or rather not using the heads in other countries. Surely if they are that state of the art some kind of power selection switch could be fitted round the back so you could use it in multiple countries no? or am i just bieng a naive moron?
Well it'd be lovely to have that option on any electrical equipment we use - but of course it would put up the cost. I can't speak for my my son's mates common sense (or lack of it) but I draw my own conclusions - an expensive mistake!
16. I get on well with the Digitech Bass Synth Wah. I use setting 2 (sub envelope follower I think). Alien on here(effects moderator) likes the sound of it! Col
17. I thought the anodised scratchplates were associate with late mid to late 50's p's?
18. I've got exactly the same amp as this - although not sleeved - and it's a beast. I assume it's the one with the heatsink at the back rather than the fan? Classic Trace tone and bags of volume for not very much dosh. Easily compares in terms of volume to the latest breed of class D amps and built like tanks. Free bump!
19.
well thats me well and trully put off! I've been umming and aaring whether to invest in a Markbass or Eden stack...looks like the Yellow has won!
My son's mate bought a MB head from the states, ran it at UK voltage and fried it! Needless to say my lad is looking at it. he says it's really well made - state of the art and bloody difficult to fix!!
20. I got a Nemesis 2 x 10 combo that sounds fab but has gone on the blink. My son is an electronics engineer - he took it to bits and remarked that it's cheaply made - which is good cos it means he can fix it - fingers crossed! The cabs are brilliant bang for the buck though!
21. Hi there, I've had a cube 100 and while they are great amps, I did find it a little underpowered in a band situation, unless you use a monitor that will handle bass well. Regards Col
22.
I was devastated to sell that, sadly I'm in no position to buy it back. But it looks nice, I never even opened the box!
Yeah it's got some nice grain going on - pics don't really do it justice! The neck's nice as well. It's as good as any genuine Fenders out there - it's a shame peeps are put off cos it's a bitsa - but that's the way of the world. Ironically I's probably do better splitting it - don't want to do that though!
