1.
You need to check for resistance across the speaker terminals, not voltage! Should read about 5 or 6 ohms. If nothing, then most likely the speaker is toast, unless you can see a break where the wires join the terminals which might be repairable. If it's fried, you could probably get a recone, depends how much the kappas are versus the cost of reconing. EDIT: Oh, and do it when the speaker's not plugged into an amp.
OK Laurence thanks - I checked for resistance and there's nothing. That's the second blooming driver that's gone in this pair - not sure if it's the same actual one - could something be wrong with the crossover or have I just hammered them too much? The speakers are pretty much redundant to be honest so guess it'll make a nice big paperweight!! Now - what to do with the other driver? Are these speakers good for bass cabs?
2.
He uses these amps I think...
That's correct Joe although I believe it's the 400W heads. Col
3. Not strictly backline but . . . . I got a pair of Peavey PA speakers that I've loaded with Kappa 15 pro's. One of them is putting sound out of the tweeter but not the woofer. I've put a multimeter across the terminals - can't find any voltage but there seems to amps there (sorry I'm not much of electricity buff!). However - whichever way I put the probes on the terminals - the amps are popping the needle against the stop. I'm assuming that as I'm reading 'something' at the speaker terminals, then it must be the speaker that's gone kaputt? Would that be the considered opinion of the experts out there? And I'm assuming that if the speaker is shot, there's nothing I can do about it except replace it? Any thoughts? Cheers!
4.
not knocking the sale or anything as it seems a reasonable ask to me but...what Muse sound would that be...? just curious as it seems very heavily affected to me and the amp chain seems irrelevant just sayin'
Thanks for that JTUK. You're probably right. OK folks - I'm not gonna bother to edit it - but if you really want the Muse sound you need to buy shedloads of effects and be able to play as well as Chris Wolstenhome. Please note - buying this cab WILL NOT make you sound like Chris. Is everybody clear on that? Sorry mate you caught me on a bad day!
5. OK - here's your chance to get a piece of that lovely Muse tone without having to fork out for a whole stack! For sale is Marshall 72410 - 4 x 10 combo in IMMACULATE condition. The cab part of this combo is rated at 4 ohms so you get the full 200 Watts. This amp series is unusual because the power supply is set up so that peak power is reportedly 10 times the RMS rating - unlike conventional amps where it's usually around double (please be gentle with me on this - tech heads - it's how I understand it!) It features a blendable tube/solid state front end, graphic and on board compressor - see the link and pics for more info. More info can be found here: http://www.marshallamps.com/downloads/file...20hbk%20Eng.pdf This combo has been sitting round a mate's place unused for a few years - consequently it's in 'as new' condition. It had a few crackly pots when I got it, but I've taken the head out and cleaned all the pots and jack sockets so now is fine. It comes with a nice padded cover that looks like it's made to fit the combo. The only reason I'm selling this is because it's a bit big for my needs - I usually have to transport the PA as well as my bass rig - being the singer, and I can't fit it all in with this thing!! Here's the pics: Looking for [s]£350[/s] £250 firm collected from Milton Keynes - no trades please - I need to downsize! Thanks for looking, Col

7.
Or you could use Dunlop strap locks which are the best around.
+1 - Dunlops are the best (IMHO). I seen our old guitarists schallers come apart twice.

Sans Amp BDDI

Dp those of you who use a BDDI reckon the effected tone is compressed?
9.
Mine turned out to be an electrolytic capacitor on the power supply - also fixed!!
Was that one of the two massive black caps - if so was same as mine - symptoms were a massive drop in volume whenever I hit a loud note.
10. I just watched the show and enjoyed. The Phil Colilns thing didn't really do it for me and I still think Boy George can't sing. But I enjoyed the Ronson thing overall, enjoyed The manics, Klaxtons and Queen Emily. Don't know much about Trumpet but herp quickly downed it when he couldn't get into Happy Birthday - and on his slot he seem ed to be having some trouble making the notes properly - but I still enjoyed it! What was the bass the guy in Manics was playing? Looked groovy and didn't sound too bad - although a telly production is maybe not the best representation. BTW all the above observations were enhanced by the bottle of wine I won at the gig raffle on Saturday night!!
11. Yup - I've played this and it's a good 'un!
12. My Nemesis problem did turn out to be a faulty capacitor - now fixed
13. I'd say a straight swop for my bitza jazz seems pretty fair . . . . . . . . . :brow:
14. Yeah - I nearly got the $$ off here - the one with gold hardware - was a really nice bass but it didn't happen. In the meantine I acquired a lovely Sandberg California JM which I think will fill my needs adequately - yummy!
15. Quality playing with sooooooo much feel :-)
16. I assume it's restored/refinished?
17.
Retains it's value indeed? Do I want a thumb or a ray/L2000/corvette $$ is the question. Me likey thumb!
Unfortunately they don't hold their value at the moment - not sure why cos they're very well made and quite different from most other basses. I'll probably keep my corvette - the ergonomics are just a bit wrong for me being a dyed in the wool Jazz Bass man!
18. Keep it and play it Clarky - mines a keeper!!
19. 06 Warwick Bolt On Thumb 4 String for sale. 2006. This is in very good condition, plays and sounds fantastic. A previous owner changed the straplocks and shagged up when screwing one into the top horn, breaking the screw. I've had this has been professionally repaired by a luthier with a practically invisible plug - a picture shows this below. One or two very minor wear marks - nothing significant. This includes all the usual goodies, wax, tools, booklet folder etc and a Warwick Rockbag. Fitted with a 'Just a Nut II' with the tabs intact. The original straplocks have been replaced with Dunlop straplocks. No trades on this I'm afraid as I'm looking to reduce my collection. The bass currently resides in a local music shop for a commission sale. Price on this is £525 firm - collection from Milton Keynes. I'd rather not post. Here's what Warwick have to say - edited to reflect this older model: Thumb Bolt-on The body of ovangkol has an arched top and a concave back. The three-piece ovangkol neck is neatly and securely fastened to the body. The gently arched wenge fingerboard with 24 ultra-hard jumbo frets offers a high degree of playing comfort. 20. Received a Sandberg California JM4 in exchange for Markbass head, Westone bass and some wonga. Bass was as described (perfect) communication was good, and Geoff is a nice guy to deal with
21. PM'd re Flanger
22. Thanks Loz - crikey that was a bit cheap for the 1x15 combo - not really what I wanted to hear. Mine sounds just great but it's such a brute to get into and out of the car!
