1. I think it's an ergonomic thing. I've got a BO 4 thumb which looks, sounds and plays fab but is soooooo different in 'position' to my fenders due to the short top horn. I think if you only play one bass all the time - these are great, but if you have a bit of a stable going, it puts you out of your comfort zone gigging with a thumb. That's my ha'penneth.
2. I've got a closet classic version of this in Burgundy Mist ala Guy Pratt - and it's just awesome! Free bump!

4. Hi Mate! You bought this from Dave from Newport Pagnell. I set it up for him - do you have a 'but it now'? Regards Col
5. Sounds like an internal problem that would need a tech to repair. Maybe the seller didn't rip you off - maybe he/she didn't know it was faulty - I try to think the best of people! If it's any consolation, the synth sounds are sh*te anyway!! Col
6. Unless you have a good budget - and really really know your stuff - I'd suggest pre made.
Thanks Alan Col you won't want to hear this but it was partly seeing your PJ for sale that motivated me to move this bass - I fancied the look of your PJ!!! Can you get it back???
Bum . . . . bum . . . . . pooh bum and double drat . . . .
10. Oh Flanker - why do you tempt me so when I'm brassic - have lots to trade but not much that fits your wants other than your old Fretless Jazz! And just sold a bloody Jap PJ!
11. Burgundy Mist Custom Shop '64 for me - if it's good enough for Guy Pratt . . . !
12. There doesn't seem to be much love for this so price drop bump to £400
13. A vintage Ibanez PJ means this baby has to go. She's an 'F' serial made in Japan Precision which dates her to 86/87 - model designation - PB - 5 5 7. When I bought her she'd been stripped and badly brush varnished. She's been refinished in Nitro Black by Andy Viccars, who also fitted the extra Jazz pickup . . . http://www.andyviccarscustom.co.uk/ . Be aware that nitro finishes are fragile, and the matte look on the back has been caused by constantly rubbing against my clothes during gigs. As you can see, she's got some dinks and buckle rash on the back - all superficial and inevitable on a nitro bass that's been gigged a lot. The mark on the neck is a scratch and not a crack - Andy's checked this out and confirmed it - it's been there since before I bought the bass - it's not caused any problems and I don't notice it when I'm playing it. There's plenty of use left in the frets and no problems with the truss rod. It was fitted with a BA II bridge for a while, and the marks left by this are visible around the original bridge if you look closely. The controls are . . . Front knob - pickup pan Middle Knob - volume Back knob - tone All the hardware is original except the scratchplate and the strap pegs. It will come with normal non locking strap pegs. The Jazz Pickup is a Wizard 84 that's been overwound to help the volume match the 'P' pickup. The overwinding gives it a fairly 'dark' tone. It's strung with LaBella 110 flats. I'd be happy to string it with something else if you didn't like these strings. Looking for [s]£450[/s] now £400 inc case collection only from Milton Keynes, or Central London (Euston) for an extra £20. Now for the Pics . . . .
14. When you say . . . the mid south of england. . . . .could you narrow it down a bit please?!
15.
I think thats a rant from the heart not the head Im the one oin our band who has the fuses, soldering iron, solder, tools, spare leads, batteries etc, While I agree about the thought of professionalism the most valid thing to do is assess the risk. If you take a spare amp, do you take a spare cab as well? I drive a V70 and there is room for 1 passenger and thats it. The rest of it is absolutely jammed with gear, as is the guitarist V40 and the drummers car. Having said that, even if there was more room, a spare bass amp is not necessarily the most essential spare to carry. I would suggest that thing that would stop most bands evening is the desk/pa amp, and I would be surprised if you or anyone takes one of those as a spare. I or the guitarist could plug into the pa at a push. We run a desk into an active crossover and into 2 power amps. If an amp goes we could get by with a single power amp, if a pa speaker goes we could get by with 1. If we loose the desk, theres nowhere to go. Evening over.
I've always thought we were most vulnerable with the desk/power amps etc. As long as ur PA and monitors are decent, that's gotta be the best bet should your bass amp go down.
16. I think you'll find the body is made of Elm. Doesn't naturally spring to mind as a tonewood - bu t I had the 5 string version - was awesome!
