1. My old Jack bass was awesome and is now owned by Rick Wakeman's cousin Alan ......bizarre and tenuous claim to fame!!!!!
2. In years to come - you'll always regret it if you don't get the stingray - particularly as it's a good un! Imagine having a 1960 jazz or a 51 P. If you don't buy the ray, let me know who's selling!!
3. I bought an Allparts Jazz neck from Peter. The price was good, and it came promptly delivered and well packaged. A pleasure to do business with. Cheers Dude!
4. Don't forget it's quite flexible with lots of eq options
5. Here's a desk recording of my old MIJ Jazz through a Behriger compressor and a Marshall Guvnor Plus - so at least you can hear what one sounds like. Col
6. I use a Guvnor Plus - cheap from crack convertors. Does it for me!
7. Very simple but practical fixes - silly how the blatantly obvious sometimes eludes us!! Cheers guys! Col
8. I never trust anyone who says......"trust me" :brow:
9. Thanks Eltham.....errmmm it was a bit technical! Unfortunately, I do touch the polepieces a lot and the noise is very intrusive. I'd like to keep these pickups in (which are allegedly 77 pups although not the originals) - they sound awesome - is there an easy rewiring fix that would help? Cheers Col

11. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=33334 OK -so the refret is done, the trussrod issues are sorted and the cosmetic magic has been applied. When I touch the polepieces, the bass buzzes badly. I've checked the earth continuity and it's all fine, however I also noticed that the two outside polepieces on the bridge pickup also seem to be connected to earth - one at either end of the pickup - and just on the bridge pickup. Anyone got any ideas what's going on here and a possible solution? Cheers in advance, Col
12. Thanks y'all - not the most subtle track in the world but great fun! Have a good 'un, Col
13. On it's way....................enjoy!

15. here's our xmas pressie to you all - it's a bit rough around the edges, but it sounded so energetic I thoufgr we'd keep it as it is - enjoy!
16. I got a bluey green one - £129 from cash converters. It's all standard - gotta say I'm quite happy with the original electrics in mine! I've also got the manual somewhere if you need a copy of it.
17. I need a jazz neck. You up for selling it the bound and blocked one? Col

I like the way that when you click the picture - a smaller version pops up! Where's me specs..........
21. I could only get away with the cube 100 in the smallest of venues I'm afraid. A great amp, with loads of features, but not quite enough to cut it where any volume is required - imho.
22. I bought this bass on sunday - my first ever ebay purchase . . . . http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-1976-Fender-...A1%7C240%3A1318 I've got to say, that for the money I paid for it - I'm happy. It's definately genuine and mostly ofiginal. However, I believe the seller was a little less than frank and open when describing the bass as follows. When I got it home and took off the bridge and pickup covers, and the scratchplate - i found about 3 sets of holes for every scratchplate screw. 3 additional holes just behind the bridge where a previous bridge had been fitted. One of the bridge saddles and one of the screws was non original, despite me asking at the time if the bridge was original. The description said the bass would come with the 'original' black scratchplate - the black one definately wasn't the original scratchplate that the bass came with when new.The bass was badly in need of a refret, with a crack in the fingerboard on the bottom fret where the trussrod is pushing through. All of this stuff is 'sortable' but i just feel the guy should have mentioned this in his description. he's got over 700 points with all positive feedback. Am I being picky? should I give him positive feedback for a good price but mention the bad things, or give him his first negative feedback? On the positive side - he's right when he said it sounds awesome - it certainly does! Ta Col
23. I bought this. it's original OK, but there were lots of issues that weren't listed on the auction. Weighs a ton but has the most amazing tone. It's with Andy Viccars now for a refret and a little cosmetic magic - I'll post pics when it comes back around christmas time, Col
24. That was the first expensive thing I ever bid for on ebay - in fact only the second of anything I've bid for - and i missed it by £38. Bugger. I would have loved the irony of playing a 'clashalike' bass in a Floyd tribute band heh heh!
25. I've tried Fender flats and don't like them at all. However, I recently bought a japanese Squier P from Bigthumb, and it had Fender Nickel rounds on (with yellowy gold silk). They sound and feel pretty nice actually.
