Guys and Gals, I have the chance of buying one of these locally. Anyone had any experience with them. I'll probably be asked to make an offer so some guide on their value would be welcome. Cheers

I must recommend Wharfedale Titan 12's if you're going for passive speakers. These are amazingly light and sound very pokey. We use them ( Rock covers trio) regularly for small venues - or medium venues if they don't want it too loud. We even put kick drum through them - OK you'll not get earth shattering bass but it's OK. Got mine in Sound Control Milton keynes for around £220 for the pair. Been gigging them for at least a year with no probs (touch wood) - driven by a yamaha powered mixer.

I had one - they're great. Wish I'd not sold it - very punchy ash body, and the series parallel switch is nice for cutting the lows to get a jazzier sound.

Ok, so the tweeter protection bulb blew in my nemesis 1 x 15 cab. I went to a car shop to get a replacement. The original is 24V 18W (no R276), but of course, they only stock 12V stuff. Apparently a 12V bulb will do the job, in fact it's said to make the tweeter sound less harsh, but it may blow more easily. So I've used a 12V bulb for now but............. If it blows, can anyone tell me where I can get an original?

To be honest I haven't played it that much of late, but I've got a bit of duo work coming up that hopefully I'll use if for - so I'll persevere with what I've got for a bit. I'm going to lift the action a bit and I've also picked up a Behringer acoustic simulator that I'm gonna experiment with. I'm In the process of recording 'moondance' as a demo, using the NS with the acoustic simulator - I'll let you know when I post it on our myspace site so you can have a listen. Col

Even different makes of strings of the same gauge can affect action. Being a cheapskate i used to use Warwick Red Label. I've gone over to Roto swing bass now, and lowered my action significantly,despite being the same gauge - is this due to difering tension between the string makes?

Natural Elm OLP MM3 Stingray 5 Copy. This bass is in very good condition with no marks or dinks. I originally had strap locks on this. When i was putting the bottom one on, the screw snapped in the wood - elm seems like a bloody hard wood! The replacement screw was put in next to it - this doesn't show. Electronics are a little unusual. Despite buying this new from The Bass Cellar, the electronics are not what is the norm for this model of bass. Normally they have a volume for each coil of the pickup, and a master tone. This has a non splittable pickup, with one master volume, and two tone controls cutting at different frequencies - both being passive top cut jobbies. When you roll the front off, you get a dubby precision sound, when you roll the back one off you get a more nasal jazz bridge pickup sound. This works very well, and is imho better than the normal setup. There's a very faint buzz if you touch the pickup polepieces - hardly noticeable - however, I've wound the pickup a long way into the body to avoid this. The pickup is pretty hot so this isn't an issue. I've achieved a fairly low action on this one, and it plays very nicely thanks. Would prefer pickup but will post at a push, or I could meet a buyer at a railway station between Euston and Brum - no offers or trades thanks. Here's the pics........... Only reason I'm selling is that I've got a couple of other nice fives, and this ones the cheapest so it's gotta go.

Not sure but I think the USA one is a little older than 3 years - isn't Z1 = 2001? The Jap description sounds dodgy but the bass looks OK although clearer pics would help. The strap hanger on the back of the headstock means (I think) that it'd be an alder bodied one with US pickups as opposed to the cheaper basswood models - which are still good. I'd be dubious about buying it without seeing it from those pics and that description. The third bass isn't a Precision Lyte. -
