I've used both and while the 30 is brill - the 100 is much louder - also the 30 doesn't have a di out so even with a pa, you wouldn't be able to put the 30 through the pa without cutting the speaker.

We always rehearse in my house with an electric kit and everything through headphones - it's cheap, and everything gets recorded.

I think an ash body seems to cut through a mix well - a la Warwick Corvette $$ or my nice 88 Stingray. Lots of low mid punch. Whaddya reckon guys?

Where I put my rig is usually dictated by the space available. I know this is usually not ideal, and i have to EQ to the best of my abilities. I doubt if there's many bands would set up around the bass player's ideal position!

Nothing wrong with the bass you've got mate. If you're gonna gig in the future, I'd be patient and put the money towards a decent combo. or amp and cab.

No mate - it's the neck volume pot that's used for switching.

I sold my AH 300 head when I bought my MB SA450. I've now bought a Mark V AH250 which weighs about 5 times as much as the MB but knocks it into a cocked hat when it comes to grunt. Still got the MB and will take it out again soon to recompare, but I love the Trace.

I'd go for a mexi classic. i used to have one and didn't get on with the neck width, but otherwise it was lovely. I've got some sound clips of mine live through a trace if you want to hear what one sounds like in a band situation.

I've got a pair of Wharfedale Titan 12's (passive) that are fantastic. very light, reliable (so far) and pretty loud. They seem to have picked up scuffs quite easily but I don't transport them in their covers, and their used at one to three gigs each week. We even put the kick drum through them at smaller vgigs, and supplement them with subs for bigger gigs.

I just bought a Geddy Lee Jazz body off of Chris. It was exactly as described except he threw in a BA II bridge instead of a standard thingy!! Checked it was OK first - which - of course - it was. The body was well packaged, and he kept me up to date throughout the transaction. Couldn't have asked for more - thanks dude!! Col

I've just bought a rather super fully loaded Geddy Body from chrisdabass, and I'm wanting to put a black sceratchplate on it. I've checked on Bass Parts resource, and I've seen they do a specific replacement for the geddy. However, I was really looking for something with the pickup cover holes and lower thumbrest holes ala pre 74 ish. Of course - I could always just drill these into a standard scratchplate. Does anyone know if there's any difference in the hole spacing with a geddy guard - or maybe it's just the single screw hole in the middle that makes it specific. Whaddya reckon guys and gals?

Thank you miss penguin it was very helpful - although from the two replies, I'm obviously going to have to experiment with the tightness of the bow! The gig went really well, but we were running a bit behind time, and guess what number I dropped? That's right - the one that used the bow.....coward that I am!!
