1. Tell her it'll take up less floor space, worked with my missus.
 2.
I see you all these answers, and raise you... What if your favourite to play isn't necessarily the one that gets the most gig time?
Then I'd be asking myself why the one I enjoyed playing most wasn't being gigged.
 3. Not a fan of the look but total respect for the work.
 4.
...and it comes down to needing to sell gear, what I want to know is, how do people decide which instruments to sell? For example, you have two different basses, similar resale value, and you're seriously attached to them both. But if you need to sell one to keep a roof over your head, how do you choose?
Which one do I gig more. I have some really pretty basses knocking around but my MIM Jazz is my gigging bass so that stays.
 5.
Whilst some conversation completely off the topic (I'm lookin at you Wayne & Skank ) Shep
I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about.
 6. Also when I get a custom bass from NYC I will be giving Mr Sadowsky a call.
 7.
You'll also have discovered that UPS are monstrously expensive, that old Mercs are a bad investment (but you can get them cheap from the States), that Ken does show gigs and that Wayne's having a moment of self-doubt. OT comes to GBD. Bargain
Also you can send a small item to France from NYC for under $3, Pete has spoken to my missus about his tip and KS has the same view on McDonalds as Morrisey.
 8.
What's your beef with the 'burst, Wayne?
It looks classy on some basses but on basses like this it looks awful.
 9.
A lot of the problem with that finish is because it has been oversprayed without cutting back. I'd be tempted to try working up through the grades of finishing paper to get rid of the orange peel, then either polishing it to a shine directly or clearcoating it. You'd keep the colour that way. I'd do it on the back first though in case it didn't work as well as I hoped!
Just out of curiosity what do you use to polish?
 10.
behave wayne - yeah, just wondering if it's suspicious - might have a nibble..
If you do mate give me a shout for a re-fin
 11.
But where then, as a businessman, do you draw the line? The OP gets his free pot, goes on all the bass forums & tells everyone he got it free & what a great guy Ken Smith is. This puts Ken in the position of having set a precedent of sending stuff out for free. The next person he charges for a replacement part then goes on all the forums & starts bitching about it not being fair because other people got their stuff free. You can't win in this situation. Let's remember that we're talking about an old secondhand bass the OP has here. All my basses are secondhand & made by small high end companies. I've sent emails to them about various things in the past, including buying merchandise. I've got replies to some, others have had none. I'm not about to go stamping my feet & saying what a bunch of bastards **** are for not treating me as a valued customer even though they've never actually seen a penny of my money. We're talking about small businesses here, not some multinational company who can afford to have a dedicated team of customer service advisers dealing with queries & complaints 24/7.
TBH though it's not just this instance. The one that sticks out for me is the one where he sent the wrong strings then called the customer an idiot for ordering the 'wrong' strings. This is from the KS FB page. "Unfortunally i have to agree with you on the customer service, and i do own one." You can't excuse bad customer service just because it's a small company.
 12.
Really sure you want to sell this ?
He put out 9 adverts so I'd say he is pretty sure.
 13. How loud would you say this is realistically? Pub gig, small club or big club?
 14.
Lakland Decade:
Love
The Lakland Scheff (now discontinued) has a lipstick close to the neck:
Ditto
 15.
Hi, We're currently rebuilding the Overwater website, but in the meantime we're on Facebook and Twitter. While I know some of you may not have access to either, we'd like to ask anyone who may be interested in what's going on at OW HQ to 'Like' Overwater or 'Follow' Overwater and in return we're giving away a box of strings. Simply Like or Follow us before the 31st of July 2011 and we'll pick (at random) one lucky individual to receive a box of Overwater Strings (6 Packets) Please see T&C's for details.
Simple yet genius.
 16.
Looks awesome. What with the tiny holes that arent for PG's?
The original owner change the plate and also had to move the screw holes, you don't see them when the plate is on.
I hope you're having a tort guard with that
Cream
 17.
Cheers Wayne, obviously your Google skills are superior to mine!
Haha not at all I couldn't find the other 2 not even on the Ashdown website which is weird.
 18.
I think you come across well on the factory vid but your email comms come across as defensive and arrogant. Its up to you how to deal with that but I'd suggest a little empathy would go a long way. Respect comes from backing your customers, not your product.
This
Great to see Ken actually involved but to be fair, it still hasnt defused the situation! You know what, don't mess about talking about 'getting paid' for 4 hours, even if it was a joke. I'm no expert but you should just defuse the whole thing and save your potential customer base...and send the chap with the pot a pot for FREE! Then it looks great, and costs you naff all basically. You have to take a hit in business to keep customers...they might come back for more basses! Take a look at Genz Benz and their service. Exceptionally good!
And this.
