1. Right most of us have a bass that is 'ours' no matter what happens that is the bass you'll always keep, post a pic of it here. ONLY ONE BASS PER PERSON For me it's my Jazz
 2.
Good results! Got some questions, though: 1. Can you tell me what primer you used ( the product)? 2. Did you spray the primer on the original finish or did you take that off first? 3. What paint did you use? 4. Was there a final finish?
1. Super Primer by Plastikote 2. Took the original finish off. 3. Plastikote enamel 4. I lacquered it but I haven't got the exact can with me will update you as to what exactly it is.
 3. Stop Me - Mark Ronson He puts so much life into what was a bland song.
 4.
hey I have exactly this bass (still natural though) with exactly that headstock crack. gotta love that short(ish) scale loveliness. does yours have the original pickup with adjustable hex head poles? I managed to pull a couple of wires out of the back of my pickup and can't work out where to solder them back! don't suppose you could peer under that perspex plate of yours and let me know what colour wire goes where? I bought mine 18 years ago for 50 quid. it has been thoroughly abused, thrown across stages smashed into ampsetc and still survives. I continue to cling to the delusion that the matsumoku stamp on the neckplate will make it worth something one day!
I'll have a butchers for you later mate.
 5. This may be of interest http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...0&hl=badass
 6. I don't like Mark King or Headless basses. It is hideously tacky but for some reason I really like it.
 7.
It wasnt going to be long before I had to post was it. .
And then you did it twice I agree, I tried to make the same point but with less articulation.
 8. The point is for £500 you can get something bullet proof and can gig every night but these things are trinkets for rich people, this isn't a bass that someone is going to use in a club every week therefore in my mind it's not as much of an instrument as it a show-piece.
 9.
I'd take pink if it had a White guard and maple neck.
YES and Black blocks
 10. Just watched that video with the sound off, proper funny.
 11. Pink but without that awful scratchplate
 12.
soooooold. please delete.
Winner
 13.
To avoid bleed there's a couple of things to try. - Automotive masking tape, or cut a stencil and firmly spray mount it in place, rather than normal masking. - lot's of thin coats from your cans, if the coats are really thin then the paint will dry almost instantly and thus not 'pour' under the tape - to keep the coats nice and consistent place your can in a bowl of warm water first for about 10 mins to gently heat it (thanks Dave Perry) - experiment with different caps, my favorite are pink dots for this sort of work, wide coverage and slightly lower pressure Hope that's helpful PS I love the Japanese style design.
Cheers for the advice mate, I'm nowhere near where I want to be so any advice is gladly taken.
 14.
Wow ! Wow ! Wow ! As for the original OP, I think that pic you have looks great and whilst I've never been into gold hardware I think the extra bling might just be a nice finishing touch on that particular instrument.
But isn't that purple?
 15.
Just pink would arrive in a Corvette Stingray.
A plastic car for a plastic bass?
 16. I love pink basses, would defo have one, however so faar in this thread I've seen an orange, red and a purple bass, if you're gonna do pink do proper pink.
 17.
We use each others cabs everytime we play together. Without fail. Except when we're on different stages... Thats how it works, we phone you up a few days before saying "you bring drums and a guitar cab we'll bring bass cab and a guitar cab?" you go "yea cool" and its sorted. If anyone else phones up we say, "we'll have all the cabs and drum shells, you just need breakables" If they dont phone up, they use their own gear, unless its wonk unit. they can do what they want.
Exactly, it always runs smooth. And yeah Wonk Unit can do what they like.
 18.
We lend cabs, you break it you buy it. Dont lend heads cos ours are all on their way out anyway. We do over 100 gigs a year... It depends on your scene. The gigs we do have a proper community feel about them. Everyone helps out, everyones friends, everyones pleasant. Then you get the occasional people who turn up with just a bass and a lead... "where do i plug in?" Speak to the soundman, not my problem. Sorted. You need to judge it on the situation. If we're playing with a band whos just come back from america and all they have is their instruments and they email us a few days before explaining the situation and asking to borrow gear, thats fine. If a local band turns up on the night with just instruments expecting to borrow gear, thats not fine. Easy. Look after each other and you'll get looked after. No respect, no gig.
That's a fair point when I do a Punk scene gig we usually share cabs and drums, it's usually London gigs where the problem arises. How many times have I used you cab?
 19. I keep this around for any such problems. "The sound man said I could borrow your amp" "Yes you can, I'll just go get it"
 20.
I am in no hurry to off-load it, I just thought someone might have need for it. I am happy for anyone to pick it up whenever, now or in a couple of months time, no bother really. I appreciate that I do live in an awkward location.
I'm in Stroud tomorrow so could pick it up on the way back. Then I could drop it of to Gusto on one of many trips to London.
 21. Depending on how urgent you need to get rid of it I could pick it up when I'm up that way and drop it off to gusto, I travel all over the country with work I just don't know when I'll be up that way could be a day could be a month.
