1. I have 2 new basses on the go going to do very different things to them. First up my new VMJ I bought from Josh. At the moment it has all black hardware, a Badass and Wizard 84's. I'm going to take all of the black hardware off (going onto the orange P-bass), put all the chrome hardware back on with a pick-up cover and bridge cover to make it look nice and vintage. So I was at Josh's and he gave me a fretless P-bass, how friendly So it's horrendus sunburst, on Thursday I'm going to spray it white and put a black scratchplate.
 2.
Been told by our manager that we need to sell our old bassists rig and some other things so...if anyone's interested in any of this, please send me a pm:
Doesn't his stuff belong to him?
 3.
Either of you chaps get it then?
I forgot about it as I was out and about, I got 2 new basses yesterday so I'm happy.
 4.
Really nice guy and an amazing musician - made my jaw drop a few times watching him noodle around on his MTD Great comms throughout and he keeps his gear in very good condition. Happy to recommend him to anyone looking to buy/sell/trade any time
+1 to all of that. Went to Josh's house to pick up one bass walked out with two Great guy hope to deal with again.
 5.
I'll probably stop bumping this soon for a while at least. You must be getting sick of me!
Not at all they are really nice cabs, I might go lightweight next year. Good luck fella.
 6.
I'm on my way to London now I have to do a quick job in the West then I'm off to the Gallery to try some Jazzes I love my Job.
The little job took ages so I didn't get to go, now I have to go to Cornwall at 4 in the morning. I hate my job.

 8.
I want it too! Bid war?
Nah, I have a price if it goes for more so be it. good luck mate.
 9. They have gone up quite a bit due to the £ V $.
 10.
Well for that sort of sponding you could do worse than try a RoadWorn Jazz... they're great and you'd have some change!
I really dislike the Roadworn series, if I do buy a vintage Fender and it's reliced I would see that as a something I'd have to live rather with than a plus point, but cheers for the suggestion.
 11.
hello...Could i get some pictures..cuase im very serious about this buy! Thanks
If it's the one that I bought from the OP I'm not selling it mate, as I said this may be a different one but I'm pretty sure it's the one I bought.
 12.

Am I not posh then? The more I think about it the more I think I should hold off and try more basses. I have spent this year trying (read: buying) all the types of basses I like to find which I like best and tone and feel wise the Jazz comes out on top so I'm going to spend next year trying to find the perfect Jazz, sure this one is probably the best bass I've ever played but there may be better out there and the comments from you guys about the shop has taken the sheen off of it. So next year I will mainly be trying: Vintage Fender Modern Fender Sadowsky Celinder Lakland and any other Jazz that catches my eye. The search begins.

Is this going to be close to it? Anyone has any ideas how old it may be, or how much it may be going for?
I had my eye on this for a few days, I'll get it if it goes at the right price.

 17.
Is it the brown one Wayne? I popped in today. Not my cup of tea aesthetically, but if its yours, and you like the way it plays... Can't help you regards authenticity I'm afraid.
You're right it's a horrid colour but it play/sound like a m*****f***er.
 18.
Could it have been Alpha Music? I think they were down the bottom of Briggate somewhere, I forget exactly, always had a couple of huge Hammonds just inside the door that they were never going to sell... They moved to York, by the train station, and a year or so later closed down.
I was in Briggate the other day, it's very modern down there.
 19.
+1 I definitely wouldn't trust them - if I walk in a shop and get treated like an idiot, I walk away. I once wanted to try out an amp there, and the guy simply plugged into it, played some generic slap, and said something along the lines of "There you go, all works, sounds great, the price is..." He really looked put out when I asked to actually try it myself...
I was in a suit as I was up their on business see also: poshest punk and was treated well, I now wonder how I would have been treated on a Saturday?
I share the majority opinion on MG expressed here in that rip-offs are the norm but I'm finding it difficult to get past the 'best bass I've ever played' statement in the OP. Best advice would be for one of our more 'Fender-street-wise' brethren to accompany Wayne ('fraid it's a bit too far for me) and then take the thing apart (both physically and verbally if need be) so that either a clear-cut 'don't touch it' is issued or it gets the green light as a player.
It was an amazing bass but if a lot of people have been ripped off I might get the feeling I had been sold a puppy if I was to buy it, if I am in a position to buy after Xmas it would be nice to take someone savy with me but I am put off buy the reputation of the store.
Wayne - I don't know how many 'good' Jazzers from this period you'll have tried (maybe hundreds, maybe this is one of the first) - there are some really nice ones around from the late '60s and early 70s and it may be worth looking more widely. There's a chance you'd get something as good (or better) at a decent price...not that £1800 for a '72 is a bad price at current valuations. If you can hang on for a bit, something good might turn up on BC and you could make a very decent saving
This is the first I've tried so it would be worth trying a few more before I commit just in case they are all like this rather than this being one in a million.
 20.
There's no possible way I'd buy anything from the scheisters at Music Ground, Leeds. Especially vintage instruments. PM 99ster.
Interesting I will do. I'm already the poshest punk of the year.
 21.
Wayne is so excited he neglected his punctuation I have amended the offending sentence below. Hands down the best bass I've ever played. If I decide to buy it, is £1,799 too much? If I took pics could anyone authenticate it for me ?
Cheers mate
 22. They are nice but very sharp on the fingers.
 23.
Oh, right.. I read it as meaning £1799 more that what he thought it was worth. In that case, that's bloomin' cheap for a '72J from Music Ground. What's the catch?
I don't know, I'm no expert in vintages and wouldn't know what it's worth, it's not a looker but it's heaven to play.
 24. Has anyone else played it? Hands down the best bass I've ever played, if I decide to buy it is £1799 too much also if I took pics could anyone authenticate it for me ? It won't be till after Xmas but I'm seriously thinking about it,
 25.
Not to do it properly.... stage show and all that....
I meant knocking it
