1. Cheers for the advice guys, I'm going to put myself in the bass room this afternoon with a click track and try to play some of the songs that I think finger style will work with, I with try 2 and 3 fingers as well as index and ring.
 2.
The 80`s were THE worst time for music. Depeche mode, Spandau ballet, Paul young, Howard jones, etc... I rest my case. Jez
True fact.
 3.
Well, when you say "my fingers", I think the question might be how many fingers are you using?
I can only use 2.
 4.
I would love to play both styles but I find that on anything even slightly fast (way less than 200-260 bpm) I am not metronomic with fingers and occasionally 'catch' them or stumble on the strings. Whereas I can keep a pick going for a long time pretty fast. There'a RHCP song on By The Way that starts simply with a single note played very fast with fingers, shifting register a couple of times. Its actually very simple but there's not a way in the world I could keep up the consistency and smoothness between each note.
The consistency is my problem, I've just learnt Original Prankster by The Offspring as a little warm up but I find I can only use 2 fingers.
 5.
Waaaaaaaayne! P
If I have any spare cash it'll be on your Tech 21 head, will get a Warwick just not yet.
 6.
I alternate between pick and fingers, depending on the song. Even if you don't get up to 260 bpm with your fingers, being able to play fingerstyle as well as with a pick will give you more tonal variety.
That's what I'm trying to do.
 7.
Excellent. Or anything involving Tim Armstrong really.
Or more to the point Matt Freeman.
 8.
yeah, use your pick for those songs!
That bad eh?
 9. I'm thinking about playing with my fingers, not all the time but I'd like to have the option. I can play up to about 200BPM quarter note with my fingers, some of our song go up to 260BPM playing eighths , any tips?
 10.
+ 1 for Skints. Saw them with Sonic Boom 6 and I thought they were actually better than SB6 which is going some... I also highly recommend the Dance Hall Crashers for twin female-fronted ska punk goodness. Don't think Sublime have been mentioned either.
Yeah when we played with them SB6 had to follow and didn't do a good job of it.
 11. I bought a rebranded special in mint condition for £120.
 12.
Bit of Skints maybe? They're more rootsy, very good though.
Played with them a few weeks back, AWESOME!!!!
 13.
Fishbone are worth checking out
My bone is also worth checking out but that's the other thread.

 17.
Very funny in a very pathetic way. Maybe half a dozen of us should audition for them and see what occurs ;-)
I'm up for that.
 18.
At no time did I refer to Mr Sumner as a "twat".
For the record I do about 5 times a day.
 19.
I've often thought about setting up a company that buys and sells gift vouchers - I wonder if such a thing exists. So, someone is given a £100 voucher, my company would buy it for £65, flog it for £80 and make £15 on the deal etc. As long as you were able to sell them on then you could turn over a fair bit like that I reckon - plenty of people get lumbered with vouchers they can't use! Cheers, James
Ebay?
