2.
I have the B2RE and it kicks bottoms. This is a crackin amp for the money - have a bump
Cheers for the bump, it is an amazing amp, as I say if the SVT goes I will have no problems with keeping this.
 3. This is up for a very tentitive sale I love the sound and would be happy to keep it but I have been looking at an SVT so if that goes before I get the cash together I will pull this. 4. The guy was on here yesterday. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=50697 Nice looking amp.
 5.
Personally I dislike the Kaiser Chiefs and find their music annoying (no offense to anyone who likes them). What I don't understand is why such a mediocre band would need such a high end instrument. I'll probably get a bit of stick for what I just said but it's how I feel.
Maybe because he wants to get the best bass he can, I play Punk does that mean I should play a Stagg?
 6.
Hi People It's a Manson Merlin from 198?
Cor that's old.
 7. It's a DBX 266XL, mean anything to you?
 8. Is there anywhere online I can get examples of compressor settings? I'm not sure if that makes sense :S What I mean is somewhere I can see what I should set my compressor to if I require a certain sound?
 9. Bedford Park in Streatham, was a good one the FOH sound was terrible but my P still sounded really nice. had a lot of fun. Got a gig at 5 tomorrow and an audition at 7 so wish me luck. Pic from tonight, what cab am I playing through? didn't see a model number but it was DEEP!!!!
 10. I'm not a huge expert but there is nothing that looks dodgy to me, the scratchplate definitely looks original. I sure there are many people who can give you better advice though.
 11.
That's really weird. Ripping someone off a few grand you could almost understand but not that paltry amount. The jack plug has got pretty loose - is it ok if I take the back off and tighten it up? Doesn't look like a complicated job, even for a technophobe like me.
Go right ahead buddy.
 12.
OK, arrived here safe and sound today - looking forward to a good old play around. I'm tempted to use it for rehearsal tonight but maybe that can wait until next week, once I am used to it, so I don't sound a complete nonce. Wayne, that colour is actually quite revolting - what were you thinking?
Not a looker is she. I did buy some strings for it but this happened http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=495209
 13. I've played through this amp and seen Ben play through this amp many, many times with his G&L and the sound he acheives is huge. Ben is a good friend of mine and I can vouch that you will get a stress free deal with him.
 14. I'll defo look into the SD Hot Stacks, I don't think I like the singles now I think of it, the Schaller looks good. Great advice guys.
 15.
the Jazz tone is lacking a little growl ?..What Jazz was it you played Wayne...
My Jazz
 16. I'm a bit fan of the Jazz neck but the Jazz tone is lacking a little growl for my liking that's why the bass I'm having made is a Jazz neck with a J/P/J PUP set up.
 17.
I had a Gotoh 201 clone (from Prosebass) which was a great bridge (properly adjustable, very solid, good sustain) and neater looking IMHO than a Badass (which can look a bit clumsy, esp on a Jazz bass body shape I think). Being a sucker for brands I have just ordered an actual Gotoh 201 for my incoming CIJ 70 reissue P-bass. As an alternative to S-D QPs, why not try Wizard? They're British, powerful and everyone on this site that uses them seems to love them to bits. Plus you can talk to the guy there and explain exactly what you want, rather than be forced to to buy off the shelf. http://www.wizardpickups.co.uk/shop.asp?category=Bass
Looks interesting and I have heard good things about Wizard but I have a P set of SD's sitting in my drawer so it would just be a case of buying a Jazz set but the Wizards are definatly worth a phone call. What do you think of these Clarky?
 18.
they help reduce string to string 'talk' (technical term - sympathetic vibration) its more of a problem on ERBs, with more strings wanting to make noise, but its still noticable on the 4, especially when you're playing at gig volume. if its an urge style bass and a huge sound you're going for, just go for J/P/J, and put all 3 pickups on. a mate at uni has an urge and with that setting the sound is HUGE
That's exactly wanted to hear. Think I may go for one of these
 19.
i imagine so, look at what fender did with the Urge II. http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0191508808 that the sort of thing you had in mind? and i would recommend a hipshot or gotoh bridge if you want a one piece. or you could go with individual bridge units
My plan is Urge II with maple neck so I'll look into the electroncs on that. I have a Gotoh bridge on my P and I really like it, what do single units bring to the party apart from looking cool?
 20.
+1 on the jazz at the bridge... go for it if you want; It will sound great, but youll need a hot one, I find the one in the bridge position on my p special a bit weak tbh
SD QP's? I wanted an active preamp would it be possible?
