So you think J/P/MM or p/MM ?
-
After trying lots of basses I know what I want but I can't find it so I've ordered a custom. I have gone with a J/P/J, string through with maple neck. Now I'm not sure what to go with pick up wise ? I like the idea of active but would it be ridiculous with 3 pick ups? What would be the best pick ups with this configuration? Also has anyone got any recommendations for string through bridges? Cheers
I've never played through one, but how much better can it be than my vintage Fender, my Vintage Mesa, or my vintage Marshall? - all of which were less than £400. You can download the Dumble schematics from t'interweb and copy it using the best components you can find and you'll still have change out of £750. He explains why his amps cost more than a small house here:-
That amp sounds horrid (I watched further videos) also that guy isn't very good on the guitar.
Dear Clever Dick. I assume you might be relating to me. If you read the post after yours, you might find that the information I have provided has been of help. I have reported you and a list your cronies to the mods - I sincerely hope you all get banned for puerile personal attacks for cheap laughs that have nothing to do with the topic in hand. I assure you, I have not had my ego punctured - it would take a lot more than comments like yours, or the other half baked imbeciles in here that seem hell bent on doing nothing else but trolling and baiting, to make any difference to me. But I still read your posts because they give me an overwhelming sense of gratitude that I am a notch or two higher in the chain of humanity than the culprits I am referring to.
While I agree with you that maybe some people have given you a hard time and appreciate the fact that you are very clued up and respect your opinion on such matters I also think that may come across a little arrogant and egotistical. At the end of the day it's an internet forum and there are always going to be people busting chops.

I played a gig tonight, couldn't be arsed so I just got the lights to go as close to green as possible didn't make a blind bit of difference it was close enough to sound in tune. I'll save my money and buy something useful like a hooker.
If they're as bad as Stagg guitars & basses then stay clear...no good!
I did bring up the impedance thing with the sales man but he didn't have a clue. It looked cheap, it also looked as if they had made the head bigger so it looked like a valve amp. There is a 'MP3 in' socket on it, is that really what you want with a full rig? I guess my point is Stagg have tried to make a cheap starter rig and they have failed.
How much! For an Ibanez 8?
I said to the guy "it looks nice but £1200 really?!?!?" and he said "that's what they go for" so I walked out not even bothering to see what else was there.

I went to a guitar shop yesterday and it had one of these Stagg stacks. Wanted £300 for the head and £250 for each of the cabs, I didn't try it but I was a little confussed on why they have put pictures of guitars on them. Are they any good? I'm guess they aren't worth second hand Ampeg money but I could be wrong.
If you're *really* lucky you might find an Ibanez Studio 8. Heavy, but as good as an 8 gets, I think. G.
There is one of those in Canterbury, the guy wants £1200 fot it.
You'd paint over that lovely sunburst with some lurid colour though wouldn't you Wayne?
I'm looking into doing a Blues Brithers thing ATM and something like this would be perfect without me doing my usual 'brightening up' although how cool would it look in orange?
-
I think it's more like a MIM Fender that's why now they have taken the stupid Rockbass logo off. I'm not an expert as I dislike Warwicks.
-
I'll let you know Les. I have played an Ibanez and really liked it, I also love Fenders (as most of you know) so it would definitely be on my list to try a Fender acoustic.
-
My lady said she wanted to get me an acoustic bass for my birthday, budget is £150. Suggestions please.
I have one of those too, but they really are miles behind the Petersons.
My DTR -1000 cost me £50, there's no way I'd get a Peterson for anywhere near that and if my guitarists are using TU-2's it would actually be worse (I think) if I had a Peterson.
-
I use a Korg DTR-1000, seriously accurate and very fast tracking.
Here's my two - both originally in the green. Note they're both fives, before Wayne accuses me! One has Wizard custom J pups in it, the other is stripped of paint, waiting for me to do something with it. I haven't done a build thread as I'm scared I'll make a s**t job of it and embarrass myself - at least I'll have the other one to go back to! I will do a thread if it works out well!
Haha that 1st one looks awesome, good luck with the refin on the other one. Seriously this thread is making me a little angry, I really want my old bass back not one like it, I hate thieving scum :@ /deep breath
Ok this keeps happening – has my account been limited so I can only send 1 PM every 10 minutes or something?
I think it's a way of stopping spambots, mine is doing it too.
Ooooh, is that a sort of lovely racing green ( ), or has my monitor gone nuts?
Racing green is what is was I never wanted another bass until some c*** stole it.
Shouldn't that be "it played lovely AND it was sunburst"?
Haha NO!!! I used to own an amazing one but it was stolen

I'm sorry to do this but, I bought some strings from Mikey D 3 weeks ago, only £10 but still, I paid the money into his account on the 1st May even sending him a picture of the counter foil. since then I have heard nothing from him and neither has another member who also bought some strings on the same day. We have both sent PM's and he has read them but still nothing. He has been actively on the site but yet he has ignored us. If there is a problem let us know but I won't be ignored not even for £10.
