1. All done , sounds great. The reason the action is really all over the place is that my neck has a curve in the middle so I have a close action at both end but a high action in the middle so I'm going to have to tighten the truss rod, never done it on this bass before I'm bit nervous.
2. I think they are 4.0mm screws so I'll use a 3.5mm bit. Cheers guys.
3.
What's the scale length going to be when you've finished Wayne? This is how I did my Warmoth, much better than wood screws imo. http://www.manchesterguitartech.co.uk/hardware.html Peter
No idea TBH :S It looks good but for £45 it's probably worth more than the bass.
4. I'm drilling fresh holes I don't need to use dowels do I?
5. What size drill should I use? I'm an idiot.
6.
I read on some forum or other (don't think it was this one) that not filling in the gaps could cause the neck to bow when the strings were tightened
Interesting, would I use standard wood filler?
7. Bridge and nut are on but I don't think that warrants a photo.
8.
Good man. Shame about the result today, eh?
It's weird I'm not that fussed, football has been getting on my nerves lately.
9. This has been defreted with a screwdriver, I'm not to fussed this is a throw together I'll just be happy if it all comes together OK.
10. I haven't had time to sort the neck out this morning but being a man I got up early and wired the pick ups in and put the machine heads on.
11.
Nice colour on that no name body.
Cheers matey it used to be black, I refinished it with big plans but haven't got round to it. Is epoxy wood glue?
12. I've got filler so filling won't be a problem, I have to postpone though I have to go to work tomorrow now
13.
The OLP neck i put on my musicman didn't line up properly either, i think one hole kind of lined up and none of the rest did. I stuffed that one hole with matchsticks (no glue) and redrilled, i also drilled 5 more holes in it and it's strong as anything. I've gigged it too nowt wrong with drilling extra holes!
Not going to screw up intonation then?
14. The spacing is the same on both, would it all go wrong if I drilled new holes?
15. I use all styles at home but I use a pick only live.
16. Hi guys I'm doing a fretless project tomorrow see here, anyway the neck holes don't line up with the body holes. Do I drill new holes in the neck or sand the pocket until they line up?
17. I already have a problem, the hole in the body and the neck don't match up. Do I drill new holes in the neck or spend ages sanding the pocket until the line up?
18.
fretless, Wayne? Next you will be telling us you are joining a jazz-fusion band
I was a neck that came up very cheap and thought it would be fun
