I had the rack version of this, I didn't get on with the sound but f*** me it was loud.

I would go with the Squier or Yamaha, I know a few people who have bought Vintage' and had noting but QC problems.

Just the B2R but it kicks like a m*****f***er.

I have an Ampeg and for Punk it's soooooo clean and attacky (that's a word I made up).

I have the Perfect Ten minirig and it is great, I wish it was loud enough for small gigs.

My perfect ten mini rig's VU wont move even if I turn the gain up to full on any of my basses but starts moving when I put the output past 50% :S

I love my Fender but lately I feel that my SX (heavily modified) out performs it.

I'm not a huge expert, but wouldn't you have to turn the gain down on your amp if you added gain at the bass stage? therefore negating any change in volume.
