Even at that gig we put all our cabs together and made monster. "stadium rock" i believe the bassist called it. that kit was seriously nice though. built it himself.
That sounded awesome, if it wasn't for the sound limiter I think we could have taken teeth out
I used to lend out my full rig, but since mr drugdealer bassist from a certain a band definitely not called HOSPITAL BOMBERS decided to turn everything up full for the whole set, ive decided im only lending cabs.
That guy was a moron, I don't think he realised why it sounded so bad.
I'll only let somebody borrow my bass after we'd done a fair few gigs with them and i know they'd pay for any damage. We nearly had a huge fight last time somebody borrowed my bass without asking. He definitely shouldnt have winked at me.
I borrow your bass, it is awesome but you play it under your chin :S

"Hi there Can I offer you £500 for this bass? I think £700 is about the right price for a Stingray in the current climate and a refinish will cost around £200. Kind regards Wayne"

I get all funny if we dont play for more than a few days. i dont like it.
Gay, is ollie alright?
This weeks been a bit odd for us. Had 4 gigs lined up, played wednesday, sold out, made enough money to press the EP. all good. Thursday had to cancel, Friday had to cancel, Saturday had to cancel. off to Leamington spa next saturday. bit of a trek but should be good.
You guys were great on Wednesday, I might have another couple of gigs lined up for you at the same venue. I'm with OG what happened to the rest of the gigs?
Wedding doing a dep for my regular dep acoustic ceilidh band: Fiddle, accordian, Django acoustic and me plus caller. Nasty migraine from 8 til 11 am meant I was feeling very fuzzy indeed all day so decided to play safe and play my new old 4 string Fender P bass rather than the Stagg upright or my E-C strung Shuker 5 bolt on I normally use for this gig. Both of those take some fairly serious brain power which I didn't expect to be available A rather dark venue, even though I took my little lights along, meant I missed the light up side markers from the Shukers. Have to address that, I think. Lots of enthusiastic and good dancing from the particularly nice looking crowd ( ) and expert, gentle, calling resulted in a fine night. Teh adrenaline cleared out my fuzzy brain and I was feeling fine by the end. It's always strange playing close to home these days and I was in the front door about 25 minutes after the last note was played Quite a contrast to my main band (based in England) where there's an hour's dismantle and an hour's drive home to do, usually. The P bass (through my powered monitor wedge for me and DI'd to the little PA for the crowd) worked well though I think a thumper may find its way into it at some point
Nothing like a gig close to home

What's so good about old bass guitars?
waynepunkdude replied to Peter Train's topic in General Discussion
I know what you mean, I think some people prefer the 'classic' tone and some people like the idea of owning a piece of history. Personally I like new and shiny -

Did he do the one about his bald dad? -
Wonk unit? It's a f***ing small world mate! I played a gig with them last night! Their singer is f***ing nuts
Ah Alex is a good friend of mine also the craziest man I know, did he do some poetry for you folks? I'm guessing they were playing with a stand in bass player as Mark broke his fingers on his way to work in the week 2 days before going on tour, sucks -

Best time to announce leaving a band...
waynepunkdude replied to Cantdosleepy's topic in General Discussion
Nice. To further this tale of sedition and double talk.... So the bassist from this hypothetical band told the singer that we was thinking of hanging his bass up for a while. The singer said that the guitarist's been a bit iffy on the whole thing for a few weeks - don't think he can afford to keep hiring practice rooms etc. They decided that instead of having a practice next week, they'd have a pub session to discuss the hypothetical future. Wayne'll be able to tell all y'all whether the tension onstage is visible. But yeah, the two of us are sharing a bill this evening at the shooting star in Liverpool street - Shooting star on fancyapint.com It's free entry. Come and watch the (muted) fireworks! I'll be dressed as a skellington. It'll be good to get some 'chatters down...
Just got in and I see what you mean CDS, nice meeting you and thanks for the emergency lend of a cab (damn that thing is light) Shame you couldn't play I think the hypothetical situation could be getting closer? Good night though costumes were great. -
My cousin's band's playing over in London Bridge at 10 - if I could fit all the gigs in I'd come to all of them.
We are on at 8 you should come down and have a pint.
I DID warn you that Peavey aren't the best company to deal with and now this is the 2nd BC'ers bass they have managed to f*uck up!!! I feel for you man, epseically with the saga I went through with my Cirrus. Oh and if they have lost it they won't stump up anything in the way of compo. I tried that one with my Cirrus and was told by the MD himself that they wouldn't give me any money as a gesture of good will, they would either replace or refund! So good luck with that one. All in all I would say that if anybody ever get a fault with any Peavey products DON'T send them back to Peavey HQ cos they are less than f***ing useless!!!!
If I was you I would keep both basses they send you, say you lost them.
If community spirit involves the other bands standing round outside the venue during your set slagging you off before miraculously appearing at the side of the stage during your last song, holding their guitars and ready to turf you off the very second the final chords of your set have decayed and offering the ubiquitous 'great set, really loved it' whilst they get in your way whilst you try and pack up, then I think it's alive and well.
Cynical you? never. I know exactly what you mean though.
Clipping can cause tweeters to be overpowered and thus damaged. It is unlikely to damage woofers unless your amp has a much higher power output than your speakers are rated or your are pushing the amp so hard that there are no dynamics and the tone is constantly overdriven andh heavily compressed. Pushing an amp into extreme clipping will not damage the amp - that's what guitar amps spend most of their lives doing! Alex
Should I just turn the tweeter off then?
Whatever happened to community spirit among musicians?
I shot it. Seriously there has only been a few gigs when we haven't borrowed/lent a drum kit and the only time we haven't was once with the Rock It Dogs because there drummer has a custom huge bass drum so that's fair enough and (i know we have all had this) 15 year olds with rich parents stroll in with a rack kit. Anyone can borrow my cab but my head and bass are off limits.
