I would be really interested to see how good you all are, different styles etc!! Anyone???
I only have bad quality live vids. But to save any suspense I'm sh*t.
 2. My GAS is for a P-bass special someone offered me it in exchange for my OLP guitar as it was the only guitar I had here I said no but a mate of mine has given me back the Les Paul I lent him so now I'm going to swap the OLP and I get a P-bass special, I have been pinning for one ever since I had one stolen 2 years ago
 3. Ernie Ball Regular Stinky's Not the most exciting choice but I have always used them not going to stop doing so.
 4.
A few years ago I was in a jazz fusion trio... playing in a Bristol jazz venue pub place, we'd just finished murdering a lengthy Bruford tune when this guy approached me... Him: "Oi mate, do you do Paranoid by Black Sabbath?" Me: *stunned silence* Him: "Oh c'mon, you must know it." Me: "Mate, we're a fusion band -- even if we did know it, do you honestly think for a moment that it's the sort of thing we play?" Him: "Yeah go on, you can do it." Me: *glare that says 'f*** off you complete idiot'* "Ahem, I don't think so."
We have a solution to when people ask us for songs that we just wouldn't do. We have a simple Ska song that we just sing the lyrics of whatever they have asked for over, it leads to great fun. The best one we have ever done is Wait and Bleed by Slipknot, I mean who asks a Punk band for a Slipknot song?
 5.
I think it's just your choice of distraction really. Whether that be musical notation, blindfold, or the latest swim-suit calendar - anything which gets your eyes off of the fretboard will make you a more engaging player with the audience.
Good old internet porn
 6. I think Cash Converters opening across the road didn't help Honky Tonk.
 7.
we were three songs into our first set and this bloke walked onto the stage and said do you do requests.i said i mate what do you want us to do he replied can you f@?k off home i want to watch the footie
That guy deserves a handshake.
 8.
this is something that annoys me. ibanezes are SO underrated, i'd go for an ibanez over a fender, gibson, lakland etc. any day. they're much cheaper for a better quality - £350 worth of ibanez will buy you a fast neck, lightwieght bass with three band EQ and bartolini pickups new. £250 of fender will buy you a bog standard mexican precision or jazz new. and people still choose to buy fenders! AGHHHH!!!! (by the way, i've got nothing against fenders... they're just completely over rated)
I have always loved my Fenders and still do but I have to agree I would have not believed how good that Ibanez unless I had tried it myself.
 9.
Sarah , do you do it more when you're rehearsing with the band than you do practising alone?? Betting , if so , it's 'nerves' related. Nothing wrong with watching what you're doing but it does look better if you're eyes aren't glued to the fingerboard during gigs. Take my tip and find a nice bright fire exit sign to stare at. Pretend it's a person. That way you have something to focus on and the punters don't feel threatened by being stared at.
+1 If the venue has TV that is great if it has a TV with football on that is perfect.
 10.
At a wedding gig on sat night. We just finished the first set and a girl (must have been between 12-14) came over to our singer and asked if we play any good songs
How did you dispose of the body?
 11.
Sexy basses, so many tones.
Your just taunting me now
 12.
Tonight I decided that I look at the fretboard too much (ie all the time) when I'm play. With out debut gig at the end of next month (touch wood!) I've decided to do something about it. I donned a blindfold and proceeded to practice Some I struggled with.. but generally it wasn't too bad.. I managed to play Avenged sevenfold's easy and Alice in Chains' Them bones pretty much flawlessly which I was shocked at. Was definately an experience though.. lol! Anyone else got anything they can play blindfolded?
I asked my missus to play blindfolded, long story short one is now red.
 13. I have had this coversation a million times. Guy " what type of music do you play?" Me "Punk/Ska" Guy "I saw the Pistols in 197x , can you play anything they did?" Me " I could but I play more 80's/90's LA style stuff" Guy *look offended walks off*
 14.
Barry44 is selling one.
Thanks for the info but I don't have the cash at the mo
 15.
I got an ATK400 and love it - there's a review of it here... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;hl=ibanez+atk
£95 you lucky bastard they wanted £400 for this one. I think they look amazing but I guess it is personal taste.
 16. I don't think Fender or Trace Elliot would let me wear there shirt as it would reflect badly on the product in fact I'm waiting for the phone call from Trace asking me to cover up the logo on my amp.
 17.
I also really like them. To be frank I think Ibanez make some of the best basses out there for the price, and some even at prices way above! Cheers ped
You're not kidding, it's going to be the next bass I buy. Finding a checked scratchplate for it is going to be hell.
 18. Someone suggested this to me IwTait recomended one to me a few weeks back so when I saw one in a shop today I had a go. So I plugged it in to a Hartke combo (I'm not a Hartke fan but that is all they had plugged) tuned it up and started playing, I was astonished, I mean it played like a dream sounded amazing and looked so nice (I was playing the blue trans with maple fingerboard), best bass I have ever played and it is a f*cking Ibanez WTF? Anyway I thought it was so good I gave it it's own thread.
 19.
if you want a stingray sound for cheaper i'd say best thing to go for is an ibanez ATK (my dad owns one of these, too), they don't look the same but they sound very much like a stingray. the neck's closer to a precision than a stingray, and they're heavy. but i think the ATK is easily on par with the musicman. at least try one out before you buy.
I tried an ATK today nd I hate to say it but I'm not exaggeration when say it was the best bass I have ever played. Looks likea P-bass sounds like a Stingray feels like a Ibanez, near to perfection.
 20. You say that but i own Jimmy Hendrix's blue Ibanez Iceman
 21.
I boiled a couple of sets of strings a few years ago. I did notice that it removed a lot of crud from the strings and when they went back on they were fresh and zingy again. The zing only lasted a couple of days at most though and then they were back to their old, dead, flat, selves. I find that preventative measures, such as wiping your strings over with a dry towel after a practice or performance, will greatly extend the life of your strings. I currently change my strings just 3 or 4 times a year. I can't imagine how much it must cost you guys that change them every week!
I changed the strings on my Jazz (my gigging bass) the other day for the first time in 18 months, I must change them more often than that. My first ever bass (Encore) hasn't had a string change in 14 years.
 22.
But what about the strings?
LMAO Does anyone else use vinegar? I was told it breaks down the grease.
 23.
Sorry mate! My stuff doesn't normally sell that quick!
Not your fault buddy good work on the quick sale.
 24.
sold pending payment
25.
These are the pickup, pots and Jack socket from my 70s re-issue Precision. I've replaced these with EMGs, so the original pickup, pots and jack, plus wires are all available. The pickups are the US pickups fitted on some of the Jap re-issues. They give a really good, classic P thump. I only replaced them as I wanted a bit more clout from the active EMGs (sacrilege, I know!) £30 posted for the lot.
How used are they?
