1. Boiling brings a bit of brightness back to old strings. I don't know how anyone else does it but i always boil them in water and vineger forabout 5 mins then swing them round and round till they are dry.
2. I used to own a Tanglewood Warrier the action I could get on that was stupidly low and the sound was great too for the price, but it isn't really a high end bass if that is what you are looking for.
3.
+1 I've never played there but I've seen a few gigs. That stage is almost a joke! Largest stage I've played : Clapham Grand Smallest stage (and also worst gig ever): The Miller pub, London Bridge.
The Millers of Mansfield? I've played on that stage it is ludicrusly small I almost fell of a few times.
4. Does anyone know where I could get a wall tuner like the ones you get in guitar shops? I would really like to get one. Does anyone even know what I am talking about or am I making it up?
5. I don't know how much one of These will cost but it is very good at holding pointy guitars.
6. "OTHER GUITAR NOT IN SALE BASS ONLY FOR SALE HERE" With grammar like that, I bet he is a drummer.
7.
I break 'em when I use them to floss my teeth
Damn thats Punk
8. Thats a long time but I don't see how you can I've gone 13 years without breaking one. My pliers struggle to cut them when I want them to.
9.
I'm playing at a local pub tonight. we have set up and done a sound check. i have come home to get changed and pick up the mrs. last night in practise i bust an A string so i put a new one on. during the sound check earlier on it stuck out like a sore thumb. all bright and zingy. i aint going to enjoy tonight i think. maybe i should have changed them all.
Personally I don't think it will that be noticeable by Joe public but I think you should change the rest ASAP. How the hell did you break an A string was you playing with a pair of pliers?
10. " None of these tears are visible from a distance and this is still the best looking cabinet I've ever seen by far." I never knew Stevie Wonder played bass.
11. I didn't realise Honky Tonks closed down when did that happen? I lived in Shoebury Ness back in 2000 havn't been back since.
12. The guy in my local shop made me a cup of coffee this afternoon and we chatted for ages about his stock i didn't buy anything and he didn't try to sell me anything but he know i will be back when I do need something.
13. Is the shop you are talking about Honky Tonks? That place has the worst customer service since the Bass Celler

Sibelius

I love Sib we all use it in the band to write songs when we aren't together . Sib 5 isn't as good as 4 though
15.
Biggest for us was the big ballroom at Norbreck Castle in Blackpool (pic below) The smallest will be tonight's gig at The Jackson's in Chorley - I kid you not, my living room at home is bigger than the venue.
That is a big place but i don't think i could play to people sitting down.
16.
Bumparooney. I have found a new courier to use so can deliver at cost
If I get a job before you sell it I will have it.
17. Biggest was probably The Underworld in Camden, played a lot of places with no stages and I love it when a mosh off kicks and people go flying past you. Best place was probably Hayes FC didn't know we had the gig till the morning of the gig drove for 3 hours got there and there was about 250 people crammed in and we were loving the reaction we got.
18.
Any pre gig tips would be appreciated!
There are lots and lots of different things you pick up after years of gigging but I think the two main ones are if you f*ck up don't stop just carry on and don't make it too obvious and have fun, people love a band who are having fun. Right last nights gig was great, it was at The Beer Cart Arms in Canterbury. It is like our home gig we know everyone there and a good friend is the sound man so we always feel good there. We where headlining and got on about 10.30 and played a mixed Ska and Punk set and had a lot of fun exchanges with the audience including having an aeroplane thrown at us Anyway I got to open the Trace up for the first time sounded awesome and we got 2 encores
19. Is there not that many because girls are bad at music but good at cooking *gets coat, runs*
20. BUMP It's tonight
21.
I've got an MIM P Bass bridge if you want it? It's a bog standard chrome affair, with a missing grub screw. What you should do is take the saddles off Dave's brass bridge and put them on the chrome one, it wont look out of place and brass is a much better metal for sustain than whatever Fender bridges are made of.
How much do you want for the MIM bridge? I think I will just use that, I like the idea but I don't really want to trouble Dave just for some saddles. Cheers buddy
22.
What makes you think adding a 15 will get a full tone?
I don't know what the wrongs and the rights are all I know is I prefer my sound when I have a 4 x 10 and a 1 x 15, I think as with most things it's personal preference.
23. Yeah it's a 4 x 10 it is a bitch to get out of the basement, when I get some cash I wanna put a 15 under it to get a full tone.
24. This is a bad phone pic of mine.
