1.
yes i do still have it. its a vintage something-or-other. it cost me £229 i think, from a little shop in chorley, lancs. i'd just been suspended from work for something really, really dumb, totally legal and ethical, totally above board, so i was feeling a thousand and one emotions all at once, generally feeling pretty low. so i decided as i was feeling low i might as well play that way and decided to buy my first bass. i got home all excited and happy, turned on the tv just as the reports were coming in of the first plane having flown into the twin towers. i'll never forget that day! x
I don't know wy but 1st basses usually have the most character and also have the best stories behind them.
2.
mine was an Eko acoustic which was massive and i used to carry it on my moped to rehearsals i was 16 and i think it was £99 which was a lot 25 years ago and i had to fill it with an old sheet to stop getting feedback which made it heavy
I bet that was hillarious to watch.
3. Do you still have your first ever bass? What was it ? How much did it cost? How old were you? Pics? I still have mine it's an Encore that i bought from Cash Converters when i was 12 for my birthday i saved up and put all my birthday money towards it, it cost £45 but i got it for £40 because the e string was missing (took me 2 monthsto afford one) it is 3/4 scale i didn't know this at the time and when i got my next bass i was shocked by the size lol i'll put a pic up later.
4.
I should hope He's honest. He's a BC member
Good work lol i may well buy it.
5. After all the fakes you see it's good to see someone who is honest HERE
6. Just had a listen it's a nice song not really my thing but quite smooth. I don't we play anything that isn't in 4/4 and i love it
7.
Don't knock it - I would never have been able to get in a band if complex lines with a modicum of skill were needed! Actually in one of my more repetitive bass lines at Tommy Flynn's in Camden the other night I totally lost it as the Euro 2008 was on TV near the stage and there was a great attack by the Russians .....
Damn the amount of times i have done that i end up watching the football and the song changes and i don't, my god the rest of the band get upset lol
8. I agree promoters no longer promote they just take the money from the people the bands bring in.
9. Thats fine but why would you usev a di box when there is a balanced output on the front of the amp.
10. I have had alot of soundmen plugging there DI boxes into my FX loop output totally ignoring the XLR output next to it when i see that i know its going to be a fun night.
11. Ah i didn't read it properly lol Hope all goes well.
12. Good luck buddy Is it your first gig or just your bands first gig?
13. It happens way too much, alot of the time we lend out cabs and drums and it's very rare we get a thank you. We did have a gig a few weeks back with two other bands they were so much fun we ended up staying after hours and having a table football competition.
14. Trace rack mount GP7 280W (580W Peak) it looks lovely but i can't plug it in
15. But i can't use because my cab is at my drummers house
16. So shakespere played bass but would only play covers that he changed the basslines to? Anyway i think playing bass should be fun i play originals because that is what i enjoy but if you enjoy playing covers then that is awesome because you get paid and play to more people, anyway it should be FUN.
17. Now on eBay but if you want i can remove from the Bay
18. I love the look of Fender 5 strings unfortanatly for me the B would just be a thumb rest.
19.
Lots of interest so far but nothing definite. Might consider swapping the LMK for a Fender US P Bass. Maybe
Sorry mate if i hadn't just been laid off i'd snap your arm off but i may still have enough for the tuner in a few days.
20. I've never been in a covers band but my band do throw in a few covers from time to time, i think changing the style of the original song is very creative. On that note check out these guys saw them last week not the best quality ever but they put on a show.
21.
They sound like Black Sabbath in an Alice Cooper style.
There not a bad band but if your playing your second gig in a diner on a Sunday night in Ashford you shouldn't have an ego the size of Liam Gallaghers
