1. I used to really want one of these basses! Literally 5 years ago I was dribbling over pictures of this on interweb.

What's the action like on it?
Would it be possible to come and try it out?
Should I buy this or a Dynacord Valve amp?

I'd be happy coming to pic it up - you'r only about 100 miles away!

I'll look in my bank account - see if there's anything there!

  2. Not a bad amp, depsite the ber'm*nger' label...!

I've played through one of these, and the EQ and range of tone availalbe is great.
One benifit that most amps nowadays don't have is an extra gain channel - for those people who like distortion. This is a great amp for the money - probably suite a newish bassist who wants to try different/find his own sound whilst on a budget.

Quite loud also - not a bad rip off of the Hartke aluminium cone!

    Good luck with the sale.

  3. Hi there,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to 'big up' stringbusters.

They are easily the fastest and politest company I've dealt with - I placed an order yesterday afternoon, and the strings arrive in the post this morning! P+P is only £1.50 too, so that was quite some postal service!

Before you ask, no this isn't my own company and I don't owe them any favours - they really are just brilliant.

I hope I have influenced you!

  4. Hi there,

I've just been fidling around with my gear as I have a few spare hours (of which I should be revising in).

I plugged in as per usual and started playing.

After messing around with the tone controls for a few seconds I realised that there was a huge boost of sound when I was touching the bass pot. When I let goof the pot there's a huge decrease in bass output, and therefore it's bloody hard to actually set the bass up accurately as the levels dip in and out as you change them!

It also makes a difference if I'm touching the strings (+pot) too - even louder!

I opened her up and had a look around inside and there's no obvious loss of connection - here's a few pics of inside:

From what I can see there is no wiring problem - but why is there this huge difference in sound when I'm touching the pots?

    Any advice/information would be great!

    Thanks for your time!

    Ben
