  1. 2016 Moollon P Classic in sonic blue (I think, it’s the same as the first one on their website) with parchment pickguard. Weighs a comfortable 8.5 lbs. Specs on the Moollon site. With original Gator hardcase, basic branded strap, cloth and a couple of picks that came with it. Strung with a fairly fresh set of D'Addario Nickels. This is the one I said I would never sell, but everything I’m playing now suits the J better and this is sat in its case which is a complete waste of a cracking bass. It’s in great condition - the thin nitro finish will wear in time but there are minimal tiny surface marks that I can see. Inspection and trial preferred on collection, ideally in Margate Fri-Sun which is where it’s located, but I could bring it up to London to meet Mon-Wed starting 12th. No shipping for this one. The only trades I may be interested in are a Wilcock Mullarkey or JV 62 P bass, both with the balance in cash.
  2. I'd love it if it was a one-off, but don't like the idea of playing a signature bass personally as I'd always feel like an imposter, like who am I trying to kid? Sounds a lot better on the Scary Pockets gig posted above than on the official demo, but then he's never going to run through a normal soundcheck. Wonder if he swapped out the preamp though - it's probably the same as the Elite which is a bit crap in my experience.
  3. Almost new set of LaBella 750T tapewounds. Cut for a Fender J and only used for a day as an experiment. Nice articulation and brighter than the black version, pretty low tension so suits a fairly light touch. NOW £30 including postage.
  4. Jamman Solo XT looper pedal. There’s plenty about these on the net. I’ve used it more for storing backing tracks to practise and improvise over than for looping bass in a performance context. A few surface scuffs but works as it should. Uses standard psu - I have one which I can include in the sale. Postage at cost or can meet in Central London or Margate.
  5. If anyone fancies a short-scale shuffle, I have a blue JMJ Mustang looking for a new home and would like to try an Acinonyx (ideally red with flats but open to any). Based in London/Margate. The JMJ is in excellent roadworn condition strung with Fender flats and comes with its basic gigbag.

  6. As a fellow Moollon P owner I have to agree. I wouldn’t swap it for any ‘70s P which is the same ballpark £ for vintage.
  7. Hi, is this still available? I have a bitsa inbound in a few days with a roadworn Jazz neck, so this would be tempting. Thanks, Ed
  8. Hi, do you have a weight for this please?
  9. Do you have the weight please?
  10. Let me know if you are going to be travelling down to London at any point while this is still available. I may well be interested!
  11. I bought a C4 pedal from Alex after he responded to a Wanted ad I'd just posted. Super helpful and friendly, he even dropped it off by bike to my office in Central London. Thoroughly recommended chap to do business with!!
  12. These are great basses - I play a lot more at home than I used to simply because of the convenience factor. They also have a surprisingly loud and rounded acoustic tone - perfect for jazz in my case and holds its own acoustically with a guitar or two.
  13. Thanks for all the comments - that's very helpful. The weight of this one didn't stand out to me, especially after playing the Atelier Z which was a heavy beast. I'll pop back for another try.
  14. Thanks @Cuzzie. I'm curious though - is there anything you are aware of that might increase its value relatively speaking? Are the older ones particularly desirable? Apart from the fact it has a relic job in between soft and hardcore, it seems to be pretty much the same spec as a regular current TT4.
  15. Thanks @chyc, that's pretty much as close as I'd got to a match in the configurator although I hadn't noticed the different body shape. The price feels quite punchy as it's not far off what it would be new, but then there aren't a ton of them around. As you say it's up to me what I think it's worth. Hmm....
  16. Hi, I went into the Bass Gallery today to try out an Atelier Z which left me cold. The chap helping out passed me a reliced Sandberg TT4 - I would never have picked it out out from the pack myself - and it was the best thing I played out of quite a few. My only reservation is the price - it's up for £1,850 s/h which seems on the high side, but there are so many variations out there I'm not sure. I just don't want to pay over the odds and then lose a lot if I don't gel with it long term and need to sell. The chap had little to no info about it but the only custom option seems to be the relicing. Any views? https://thebassgallery.com/collections/bass/products/sandberg-california-tt4-relic
  17. Completely agree with LukeFRC. I sold a Wal ages ago for about £1,200 and it wasn’t right for me so no regrets. But I sold a beaten up black ‘74 Jazz a few years back that had so much character and I’ve been on the lookout for it ever since.
  18. Having a clear-out of a few books, mostly unused (good intentions and all that): The Improviser's Bass Method - Chuck Sher (unused) £15 Exercises & Etudes fo the Jazz Instrumentalist (bass clef) - JJ Johnson (unused) £8 Expanding Walking Bass Lines - Ed Friedland (barely used, plastic on cover is rippled, CD included) £8 Bass Improvisation - Ed Friedland (unused) £8 The Slap Bass Bible (used but very good nick, CD included) £8 Postage included in all prices above. ALL SOLD - thanks for the interest everyone
  19. Nothing to add to all the comments here already about these basses except that they are incredible value for money. The only reason I am selling is that I mostly play my Moollon P-bass and have just bought a jazz guitar which needs to be funded. This is in excellent condition and has had a Gallery set-up so playing nice and smoothly. Apologies for the poor quality photos - challenging light and an iPhone don't make a great combo, but you can see plenty of better pics elsewhere - I was pleasantly surprised by how much this looks on a par with £1,000+ basses and personally think the black/RW combo is about the best looker of the bunch. I am based near Waterloo in central London. The bass comes with a decent gigbag but no hard case so would prefer not to ship. Price is firm for now.

    Moollon

One thing to watch out for with the Moollons is fretwork. I have had persistent buzz at one fret and one string only which I couldn't get rid of - took it to Martin at the Gallery and it seems to be a fret not seated properly. I'm getting a full fret dress to make sure, and for me it's well worth the £75 as it's otherwise the best P-bass I've played and a long-term keeper. Having said that I find it bizarre that the luthier goes to the lengths he does to get exactly the same metal compound for the tuners as an original pre-CBS Fender, but lets a bass leave his workshop with imperfect fretwork. I'd think I was just unlucky but have read a posting on Talkbass from a bass tech reporting similar issues the other side of the pond. This isn't to knock Moollon - as I say this is the best P-bass I've laid my hands on, and I'd jump on a second-hand J Classic if it turned up around here - but thought I'd share my experience.
  21. Hi, could you post the weight please? Thanks, Ed
  22. Called today and they won't be in until September.

I don't but if you email they should be quick to get back to you. Price will be in USD which will hurt at the moment.
