If they look metric, they probably are. US threads look a little coarser - like the intonation screws on Fender. Do you have one you can describe in more detail (length, number of turns, diameter, head shape?). A wild guess would be M3 countersunk, but just a guess. If built in far east, will likely be metric.

Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
20-odd quid for a pbass anyone? http://www.thomann.d...d_seri_deko.htm
I got the shorty version, wanted the neck for a bitsa build. Fans of BBOT bridges might like to know the bridge metal is a respectable 2.75mm thick. Chrome plating looks excellent. My Fender and Squire are a little under 2mm thick. Might put the bridge on my P -
Links fixed, humble apologies; 'senior' moment..! Thanks for informing me.
Thanks, now I have a short-list of 3 (again!) -
Ultrasonic cleaner?

Yeah, that could work too. Probably the same as boiling it, though.
The muck flies off, but I've not restrung the set. I think it was concluded on another thread that de-stringing and re-tensioning is the killer. Strings under tension must be close to the elastic limit of the metal (else they'd never break, but usually break at a stress or corrosion point)
Can any of you good people do me a quick favour and measure your TI from the bridge to where the red silk starts at the nut end. This is on a long scale 34". Reason I ask is I recently fitted a set and the E string looks different to the other strings. The red silk is about an inch or two longer than the other 3 strings. Slightly different tone and feel across the set. Thanks
Check post #63 ? Have you any way to measure the gauge to check? And for reference, a set under tension (JF344 long scale) on my 34" P. From bridge to silk (in new money) E 936mm (silk all on the post, others start ~ 55mm from nut) A 954mm D 958mm G 955mm Great strings BTW, love them. EDIT just checked my gauge, they measure correct at 43-56-70-100

Some years ago I wanted a 1/2" router for general woodwork. got a B&Q special, suspect it was a Trend re-badge. Was awful. It went back. Then got a Dewalt - excellent kit. However at 1/2" it is a bit heavy for pick routes (have done one under a pickguard), but the 1/4 one in post #6 looks good. Expensive but worth it, don't want to mess up a route!
Dust and other detritus can settle on the strings and dull their tone. More-so with round wounds, where it's hard to effectively clean the tiny spaces between the winds.
Ultrasonic cleaner? - but you'd have to destring.

Looks like you're bent on a Harley (I'll get me coat....) -
A little known fact is Joe Walsh invented Walsh Functions. These are a set of orthonomal functions which can only take a value of +1 or -1 being the digital counterpart of trigonometric functions and somewhat analogous to Fourier series can be used to sythesize almost any waveform by additive synthesis. He does not like to tell this as he's just an ordinary average guy. A strange invention, for an analog man.

That's a neat piece of work. Are they OC71s ?

Not much on the internet is there? Perhaps a lot is still in copyright. I found this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ill-Be-Seeing-You-Songs/dp/0793537614

Passive PJ - Series/Parallel, reverse phase
pfretrock replied to M-Bass-M's topic in Repairs and Technical
Another mod I have is a Ricky style passive HPF on the bridge pickup. When activated this only lets the mid/treble from the bridge pickup through, so you always get the low frequency from the neck pickup (nice and fat), but you can add some mid/top to it from the BPU without any phase cancellation - so you don't get so much of the scooped sound of to pickups in parallel. Sounds a bit like a Rick. Vol (push/pull Series/Parallel) • Stepped Blend switch (5 position rotary) • Tone (push/pull HPF) Still with 3 knobs so completely reversible (as it's a 70s one).
HPF definately worth trying for the cost of a cap and a switch. It works. One problem was I found the pull switch pots a bit noisy if used in the tone position. They are just not the same quality as the larger pots from well known makers. Also they may be 6mm shaft, so 1/4 inch knobs (6.35mm) run off-centre. If the post are splined with a slot and the knobs are grub screw type, make sure the screw makes contact with the slot and not the spline. I think its more secure that way. Kept all my mods reversible also... -
Passive PJ - Series/Parallel, reverse phase

Tried that on my Squier Jaguar, which has 2 Js. (i'm a compulsive tinkerer) . Phase switch did nothing (that I could detect), Series dropped a lot of treble. OK if that's what you want but post #2 makes more sense. Two pups in series doubles the inductance that the signal has to pass through, which cuts treble.
