Think I'll wait until Thomann sell some cheap, "Decoration only not for drinking"

A number of these were on No Treble a few years back. Heart Of The Sunrise and Ramble On well worth a listen. Thanks for the Bernadette link, it was a dead link on there a few months back, seems to be OK now. http://www.notreble..../isolated-bass/
A summary perusal of the latest copy of The Building Regulations -Part K (2000) reveals that 3 steps does not constitute a stairway.
But Bron-Yr-Aur must have been built years before that. How many steps are there into the cottage?

When Pye muso Tony Hatch wrote the theme music for the '60s ATV soap Crossroads, he borrowed a guitar riff from Robert Johnson's 1936 recording. Whether there was a copyright issue or it just did not fit with the program's concept is unknown, but it was rejected by the TV company and he had to quickly re-write the theme.

Thomann selling Harley Benton basses as 'Decoration only'
pfretrock replied to Annoying Twit's topic in Bass Guitars
There's been a thread somewhere on here where someone bought a "décor only" bass from Thomann and it was absolutely fine, only some tiny visual faults.
Some of the items have close up photos showing the defects. There were a couple of acoustic HB basses with a 10p sized dent in the back, for example. -
Acker does not come in until 1:48, but worth the wait for what's before and after.

Does changing the bridge make much difference?
pfretrock replied to Twangster's topic in Bass Guitars
You might want to read Dan Armstrong's attempt to increase sustain, by building a massive body. He forgot about the bridge. http://www.dinosaurrockguitar.com/new/node/640 -
Does changing the bridge make much difference?
Well, as I say, I am not a physicist so I'd be happy to be corrected by whoever actually knows the maths of this, however ....
I think you are spot on ET. The neck/body/bridge needs to be significantly more massive and rigid than the string. Otherwise, as you say, energy is drawn out of the string and lost to vibrate the former. If you are unluck enough to have a resonance in the neck that is equal in pitch to the fretted note, then significant energy is lost in the string as it more readily transfers energy to the neck. You get a dead spot.
