  1. That's the other application for me - A near-Status when I don't want to take a Status to a particular venue. Again, my only complaint with the Space Basses is the output is a little low - about equal to a passive Jazz bass, but that's sortable by turning up the gain.
  2. Well I can tell you the 5-string version was very light, and this is obviously a little lighter again. They sit on the strap at a similar angle to a Status S2 design. Very central and perfect balance. I will say that the narrower neck is even faster to whizz around on than the five, which was already very fast.
  3. Thanks for that, Tauzero - I'll have a look at that. I've been using headless tuning systems for over 35 years now, and I've never had one fail. But the smooth motion is very appealing, as they do stick a bit from time to time.
  4. Whassat, then..?. 🤔
  5. I had one of the last Dimension Elites in the trans Cayenne finish for about eight years. Only traded it in, as I needed the trade-in collateral when buying my KingBass Mk-II. The Dimension HH was a great bass and a MusicMan HH slayer. Hopefully Fender will do a reissue sometime.
  6. After taking myself outside for a good talking to, I decided that letting my Cort Space 5 go was a mistake, and I missed having it around as a backup/teaching bass that mostly lived in the boot of the car. I liked everything about it, apart that I had to have a 5-string at the time, so I traded the pretty bitsa Jazz bass with the EMGs, as I've got two working and earning Jazz basses which are both permanent fixtures on the fleet, and got an as new Space 4. Simples. 🤔 So overall, it's a break even deal and all I've lost is a 5th string. Hopefully the last NBD for a while. (He said!) Pictured here with it's SoloKing brethren.
  7. Practical common sense has prevailed... Firstly, thanks for all your input, guys. Some very interesting options there, and having done some research and pondering, I've decided not to update the pretty bitsa Jazz. You see, I traded my highly useful Cort Space Bass 5 headless which previously lived in the boot of the car and was used as a backup/teaching bass and I genuinely miss having it around. I got the bitsa and £100 in a trade a couple of weeks ago, and all I've invested in is a decent set of strings and some setup time on the Jazz. A friend of mine loves fast necked active Jazzes and has a brand new Space Bass 4, so that puts me back to where I was without the 5th string which I didn't really need. As much as I was keen to improve the Jazz, I've got two lovely Jazz basses already which are part of the permanent money-earning working collection, so throwing another £200 at pickups on a bass I don't really need isn't good sense. Thanks again for all your input and knowledge.
  8. I'm doomed - Skoda Superb estate with 1950 cubic litres of cargo space.
  9. Visually, it looks like a £400 bitsa. Sorry, but it does. Questions: Did they clear all the Woodworms out of their delicious home? (I've seen the resultant damage on plenty of 2-300 year old Cellos.) Why is Lee Anderton trying to hawk a £7k bass when he knows most professional musician's cars aren't worth that much?
  10. Shaggy dog stories are what make these instruments interesting. Where they came from, why we love them (albeit for a short period sometimes!), and why we covert them. Reminds me of a new Tribute LB-100 I had Andertons get out of the warehouse for me a couple of years ago when G&L did that gorgeous aqua-marine blue. Best sounding P-alike I ever played, but for some reason I bought a Sire gen 2 70's jazz clone instead. Stupid, stupid, stupid. The new SB-2 looks lovely, Neephid. Hope you enjoy it and play the bejesus out of it!
  11. Okay, so I played my Am.Perf.Mustang for the first set of our multiple tribute show last week, and it knocked it out of the park. Very easy to hear in the mix and very distinctive. Like a Jazz bass on steroids after you've just had your ears syringed. Only problem is I want another Mustang now! (Keep looking at the JMJ, but leeuurrrve the 'Competition Burgundy' Vintera II.) Other short scale basses are available.
  12. Is there a way you can kill the guitarist without anyone knowing? 🤔 I went to see a friend I've been playing with for thirty years playing his solo act on Saturday, being as I wasn't out playing for a change. He was 'support' to a local 70's Disco band. The Disco band had several huge issues, which is a shame because they were reasonably able. The guitar was too quiet (odd, I know!), you couldn't hear the drums (drummer must try harder!), and the bass player clearly hadn't recognized that the venue has a very boomy, hollow stage. So all you could hear was bass boom - played badly, I might add. I don't know who there did the sound, but it was awful. More of a pity, as the female singer, keyboard player and sax player were all pretty good. Just a pity they were hard to hear.
  13. TC Electronic Vortex Flanger Mini with power adaptor and original packaging. If I remember rightly, this has the Mark King 'Sweet Minger' Tone Print onboard. Excellent condition, barely used. £50 inc postage to anywhere in the UK or Ireland.
  14. ... and both pickups in single coil mode gives you a super bright 70's Jazz sound. It sounds huge for £150, eh?
  15. Yes, I remember playing one in my twenties at a Nottingham jam I used to frequent in the early 90s.
  16. Did you just email your credit card details across to SoloKing for the scratch plates?
  17. You're right, Andy. Chrome rotary controls don't look right on it. I actually quite like the small black ones. They're quite distinctive.
  18. Wha? Sold? Really..?
  19. Aha! Welcome to the SoloKing Cult, er I mean Club! Best £150 you've ever spent?
  20. Nah, 80's Encore P-Bass from the Kays/Empire Catalogue. Oh... and SoloKing!
  21. Aaaarrrggghhhhh!
  22. I just thought, "Oh God, is this the beginning of a TalkBass-style SoloKing Club?!" (Shoot me noooowwwwww!)
  23. It's a bit like Captain Picard being interrogated by the Cardassians, "There... are... FOUR... strings!'
  24. By all means, Kev - Height to the top of each key is 31mm above the headstock and the keys are 40mm wide.
  25. Sounds good to me. I was playing mine earlier through the TC Electronic Plethora Tone Print pedal. Action has settled down quite easily. I don't like the 45-105 D'Addario strings. I may have to invest in my 5th set of 40-95 Elixirs in the last month. Obviously it's down to Lee reducing the prices by 50%, but I still can't believe such a nice instrument was only £149.
