EBS HD350 for sale. I bought this about 4 months ago on here. It’s in almost unmarked condition, though the black rack ears have lost some paint around the screw holes. Comes in the older but functional rack case in which it was delivered. The amp has just returned from a check-over and service (with Tim Jones, the Guitar Amp Doctor in the NW) and is functioning perfectly. I was a little concerned when it arrived as it appeared to move into drive quite quickly with the gain at moderate levels: I use an extremely hot bass so probably not surprising. Tim tested and cleaned everything and the amp is operating as it should. We put a couple of Precisions through it and it has an extremely tight and solid tone with plenty of flexibility. The filters on these are a thing of wonder and a feature that made the amp a long-term favourite in the live rigs of some big-name players (Tal Wilkenfeld, Marcus Miller and Alex Al among them). The character switch - a sort of preset - is a really nice feature, and both the compressor and drive are impressive and very useable. I’m moving some heavyweight gear as I can’t lift it these days - the HD350 is around 18lbs so not nuts but a little heavier than I'd like to move around frequently. Collection in Manchester or I can ship to the uk for around £12. No trades thanks.

Thanks for the Sly vid Hellzero. I honestly don't care who invented slap, when, or who taught it (or memes, tropes, the gnomic, aphorisms etc.). That footage - as many times as I watch it - always brings a massive smile. From chord one on the clav (if that's what it is), life-enriching funk in the purest form. And some of those shapes in the audience... beyond cool

Extremely sound advice in my view. Certainly worth spending some time thinking about (and listing) desired characteristics - and less-desired characteristics - prior to taking further time to actually try some basses that might fit your needs. I'll admit that I immediately thought of Spectors and Stingrays when I read the opening post, though the ergonomics of the former don't work for everybody. You have a good budget to work with and buying from a trusted source on here is probably an excellent idea. Unless you really know what you want in terms of set-up and can do this yourself, I'd think of maybe retaining a bit of your budget for new strings and a set-up. For me, this can really improve the pleasure of playing and ergonomics of pretty much any bass

Just sold a Mono Vertigo bag to Aidan in an extremely easy and pleasant deal - immediate payment and very pleasurable communications throughout. Parcelforce did it's usual thing of 96 hours to deliver on a 24 hour service but Aidan was patient and relaxed as we watched the tracking ping-pong around the country. A great bastion and pillar of our community, I can recommend Aidan without reservation. Indeed, great to engage in some bass-related chat and updates (we've exchanged gear/money previously). Thanks Aidan and enjoy the bag!

Eagle Warlord Bass - Birds eye Walnut top - Unique!

Truly unique - do you have details of the luthier? There's clearly a lot of work gone into this bass, and I'm not sure that I've seen Birdseye walnut previously - very impressive. Do you have the weight? It looks like it could be a reasonably heavy bass, though given the body shape/strap pin positioning, it looks reasonably well-balanced? This might do well on Talkbass - the shape/aesthetic could have significant appeal -

This is ridiculous! Absolutely outstanding deal for IMO one of the finest bass amps ever conceived and built. The weight of these is well worth the effort (and to be honest, they're not ridiculously heavy). I've used some great Class D heads - some of the finest - but none has been in the same league for ground shaking power and tone. I'm getting seriously tempted to get this as a second - stereo rig! I doubt this can hang around much longer - fantastic price

Fender bass bag - used but in very good condition. This is padded (though not very heavily) and is a neat, light and well-made bag with pockets and storage space. I'm not sure of new cost (around £30 I'd have thought) so £12 seems about fair. Socially distanced collection near Manchester or I can ship for about £8 (realistically, probably best to collect if possible)

I have a couple of sets of light gauge short-scale strings that have been taken off two a side headstock basses - neither set has seen much use and both have been carefully cleaned with antibacterial wipes. One set is Rotosound 40-90 and the other is D'Addario - not sure of the gauge but I think they're around 40-100. £12 for both including postage in the UK.

Me too - weak at the knees. Looks particularly good with the very dark board. Given there are already some changes to this bass, I'd be thinking lollipop tuners too! This is such a handsome bass - the tort plate mesmerises. I kind of think of it as the George Clooney of Js. It's a bit younger than him but neither have been diminished for going around the block a bit - quite the reverse - rugged but refined -
The basses you have explain your desire for a new filter system - you have two of the most lovely filter-based pres I've encountered there! I'm a big fan of SCs too (Wals not so much - love the thought and look of them but those that I've have never really worked for me). I'm looking forward to seeing the new bass when it's done!

I managed to support two of the bands on this compilation - probably back around '80 or '81. Angelwitch and Witchfynde. The former seemed like really good guys - the latter didn't really seem to be getting on well with their manager... though it's now a distant memory

Have a look at the Alembic Club site - Alembic Anniversary electronics do what you're looking for (found on the Alembic Brown Bass). Alembic uses a single jack and a small switch for S/M operation - it's possible to use a mono or stereo jack cable. I really like the sound of what you're aiming for - good luck with it, the electronics shouldn't be too difficult to assemble

First, what an absolutely lovely old Precision - I'm not really a Fender player but I can appreciate the vintage class here - stunning. The Spitfire plate looks truly amazing too - particularly against the Oly White - I hope that you're pleased, I was certainly delighted with my Spitfire guard. I'm not sure which I prefer but either the original or Spitfire is suitably beautiful to grace such a bass
-
I look forward to this - the Spitfire plate that I had was superb in every detail. The price of a decent and playable modern bass but the closest to real old celluloid tort I've seen

The SKB iSeries Universal Bass Case is by far the best case that I've seen in the past few years - Bax appear to have them at £247. Not cheap obviously, but the protection appears to be superb and everything about the case just looks and feels premium. They're not a light case either but the wheels are impressive and there are twin handles to ensure that moving the case around is relatively hassle free. The only downside for me is that they won't take a wider bodied bass - Fender types, Spectors etc. are fine but if you have anything with an unusually wide upper bout, it's unlikely to fit. They're worth having just to admire - really a fabulous case in every respect and a real step-up from anything else that I've used. These probably offer similar protection (better in some respects) to a full flight case - Anvil etc. - with a much reduced weight
