I’ll have to dig my ‘fat valve amp’ settings out for you, you’ll be surprised how this amp can deliver that punch. It’s all in the clever DSP!

I'd be very interested in this too Dood if you don't mind publishing (and it's not derailing the thread) - cheers!

  2. On a personal note, this saddens me nearly as much as it must do you Andy.  If I could afford to keep it in the family, I'd surely do so: should circumstances shift then it would be available to you again.  Alas, my spending (of the bank's money) has been somewhat reckless in recent months.

More generally, to anybody considering this, it is an instrument of very unusual quality.  Of course, it's a premium instrument and expectations should be high.  However, in my opinion, this is that near perfect bass that appears very rarely - a fortuitous concatenation of materials, specs, experienced craft-work and ageing that has delivered the golden specimen.

I'm wiping away a tear here...

  3. I'm a big fan and user of Laklands but the bridge on the new models is one of my least favourites.  The 1930 looks ok and I'm sure it will play very well but as others have indicated, the quality claim is a concern - Spector, Alembic and many others might have an argument

  4. Wow - I had one of these (well a custom built copy with an additional front firing 12 in the centre of the fold - it had belonged to Sad Cafe) - a monster in every respect. I paired it with a 15” folded horn too. It caused chest pain and interfered with breathing at around 20 feet - seriously. I was supporting Angelwitch years back and there were audience complaints just from my backline. Wondrous. I’d struggle to even wheel this now but I’d love to try

  5. Very easy deal with Paul on a Precision - fantastic, responsive communications and Paul's immense patience as Parcelforce made an extended mess of delivery was very cool and very welcome.  Massively recommended as a pillar of the community - cheers!
