I suspect it’s Fender’s International series Monaco Yellow. Just beautiful - very ‘70s

I’ve used a Rumble in a rehearsal room - light, loud and versatile - I was very pleasantly surprised and would consider one for easy gigging.  There’s also an AER Amp Three for sale on here too - I had an Amp One and it was very special (the brand is certainly worth consideration). If you stick with separates, have a look at the Bergantino amp options (BAmp and Forte). Not cheap but a superb unit.  You’d need to think about protection for gigs - a very cute box but doesn’t appear massively robust (mine’s in a Peli)

The guarantee has worked for me too in the UK. On the noise issue, I’ve experienced this with both my Hellborg power amps - one sold, the other returned to Thomann. There’s definitely an element of harmonic colouration/distortion that you’ll either appreciate or not (I’m in the latter camp). With the first amp there was also intermittent internal noise

I recently went over to see Max to collect a bass from him - everything worked perfectly - an incredibly easy transaction with excellent communications throughout (we still talk on Basschat).  Very honest and rapid in responses and action.  I can recommend without any reservations as a totally upstanding member of our community (and a really good and knowledgeable guy too - just a pity we didn't have longer to speak)

Ah, my favourite bass amp of all time - easy one-hand lift too in the rack case (!). Actually prefer these to the 751

Outstanding instruments - I have one very similar (Oly White) - the best alternative to a pre CBS that I've found and it's been an extended search.  For me the necks (especially Jazz dimension) are the finest available, and (again to me) preferable to vintage Fenders.  Fantastic price for an immaculate example (IMO)

An absolute bargain in my view - I had a few Overwaters a few years ago (Progress 3 6 strings and a custom original 5) - all had extended necks and were a little too large for me to play comfortably.  That said, the build quality and fit and finish was superb on all three.  I recently returned to the brand with two Overwater PJs.  Again, utterly stunning basses in every respect with fantastic playability and looks.  One is now with a mate but the one that remains is a go to (and looks so gorgeous it lives in the lounge).  Fabulous instruments and this is a brilliant price for another bass that could easily grace one's living space

I’ve posted fairly extensively re: unexpected behaviour with the Hellborg power amps - my stereo power amp went straight back to Thomann (I’d previously owned a mono power with which I wasn’t entirely happy). The pre, on the other hand, is stunning IMO

Aguilar official head/rack case for DB750/1 (or any other 19” rack gear). Very good used condition with one or two edge nicks in the vinyl. Excellent protection and makes it easier to carry a heavy Agi amp - extra strong and durable handle with side and bottom heavy duty feet. The rack has just two mounting bolts/washers but I may have a couple more. Currently selling for £250 at GAK.

Brand new from Thomann a couple of months ago but not required. These are designed to house the Warwick Hellborg rigs but will take any 19” rack units.  Easily removable castors and front and rear mounting strip (one rear strip appears to have been drilled and fitted twice but all is straight, sound and functional - it would take some spotting but I want to be entirely up front on this). Plenty of cage nuts and bolts included. Very heavy duty paint covering - very slick and pro look with slotted handles. Weighs around 8kg but not sure on this. Price £35.  Collection very much preferred but can ship to UK for £10

There’s a beautiful natural US Lakland Bob Glaub PJ (jazz taper) in the classifieds. I have the same bass but in oly white. These are outstanding instruments and my favourite Fender clone by some distance. I had an Overwater in the same spec (but natural) until recently - the new owner added a lovely tort plate - outrageously gorgeous

Excellent, thank you all – I’d read the manual to but didn’t pick up the sentence relating to the combined input’s  positioning. As you suggest then, no need to use a further DI for the jack. I thought it sounded pretty tremendous anyway – we are always looking for marginal gains!

Thanks Hellzero and rsint - I'm afraid that I don't posses even the most perfunctory skills in reading schematics.  I'm eager to see if the jack/xlr provide different routes (either vie the input transformer of not) - I'm not sure if there's a definitive answer to this one without taking the unit apart... given the above, something for which I certainly don't have the skills!  Any further views very welcome... I suppose I could just try it with the balanced line from a Millennia TD-1

This is really interesting, and something of which I wasn’t aware. I use the jack input and the very powerful EQ fairly extensively. This has me thinking. Would it be possible/useful to use a Pre/DI (Millennia, Avalon et cetera in pre eq mode and take a balanced line into the Hellborg pre - nice to see what extra the input transformer might provide (the jack alone is wonderful) - maybe a nice idea for passive/vintage basses?

Absolutely love this - very rock’n’roll.  Love the one-knob approach too - who really needs more!?  Volume I assume - possibly even better if it's just on and off?

hahaha, I sold my first Hellborg power amp for £150 because of the harmonic colouration!  Hmmm...not the most wise of decisions!

Utterly wonderful deal with Owen - an absolute gem of the community - extremely patient whilst Parcelforce contrived to hide the parcel for a couple of days!  Deal in absolute confidence - I notice that I'm adding my recommendation to an extremely long-list of perfectly satisfied members

These definitely feel like a long scale on a strap - the pin positioning pushes the neck/head right out. There’s noticeable dive with mine, though a 4” Alembic (Moody) suede backed strap helps a lot. Played seated, the small-bodied Alembics have similar ergonomics to any other short-scale (only better IMO)

Oooohhh...these appear very rarely! There aren’t many of them and owners rarely wish to part. A lovely example too (and at a great price IMO - check out current prices - even discounted at Bass Central, there’s going to be no change out of about £9k). Tone and playability is usually outrageous too. Boiler failure and a massive tax bill keeps me out on this one... I think...

Just for info, the knobs look non-original?
