1. These sound immense and play beautifully. With a bit of care and a modest outlay, this bass could be restored to its original glory
2. PROEL 3u rack case in good used condition. One handle doesn't retract properly (see first image) but a highly protective and solid case. Very few marks to dark grey outer board. Fitted with 8 captive rack bolts. Collection only in East Manchester
3. A set of high-quality flats - not sure of brand or gauge but I'd think medium for the latter. Cut for Fender four in line( and came off a Precision). Clean with little apparent use - plenty of life left and decent silks with little fray. £5 shipped in the UK. I'll slip these into an D'Addario pack and Jiffy bag for shipping.
4. Zoom B3 multi effect unit with box, manual and PSU. In very good, used condition with only very minor scuffs from careful use. Very impressive multiple effects and an excellent DI option. Shipped in UK for £75
5. Zoom B2 multi effect pedal in very good used condition. Solid and very reliable (housed in a rugged metal case with rubber edging) with surprisingly high-quality effects. B2 only, no power supply but runs on 4AA batteries (Sony alkalines from Poundland work a treat!) £32 shipped in the UK
6. OLD - Reduced to £30 shipped in the UK (or £28 collected). Montreux white aged '62 Jazz scratchplate - extremely sympathetic relicing. Comes in original packaging with original lightly aged screws. Only ever fitted for a couple of weeks before the J was sold. Currently selling for £47 on Thomann (including shipping).
7. Limelight medium-relic tort Jazz scratchplate. Perfect (reliced) condition. £21 shipped to UK.
8. Plastic bass/guitar A frame stand - black plastic - perfect condition and perfectly functional. Comes in velvet(ish) carry pouch. £4.50 shipped in the UK
9. A set of chrome ashtrays from a Precision - very good used condition but some minor marks. I'm not sure if these are Fender or aftermarket but came on a Fender Japan '62 re-issue body. Shipped in UK for £21
10. Having owned a few beautiful Celinders, I have no doubt that this will be a world class bass. Christian built (builds?) some of the finest Fender type basses on the planet and his selection of timbers is impeccable. One of my Celinders had the Rio board and the 'ping' in note attack was astounding. I play short-scale almost exclusively now - if I was looking for a 34" scale as a main bass, this '62 would probably be top of my list
11. As a US Spector player, I can say with some confidence that this is an outrageously good price!
12. Looks really lovely - Chowny's take on the Brown Bass and an impressive job. Soundly Lovely in Scott's hands too
13. Thanks Kev, not relevant to me as I don't currently ow a Warwick bass, but an interesting and informative story, and an example of Basschat at its best (and in the spirit of why many of us first got involved).
14. I wouldn't bother with a status gig bag - in my opinion, they're frankly awful - cheap, not very protective, tend to stain coloured finishes. You could try a good guitar bag (but check internal dimensions) - a Fusion might work (the higher-end Fusion bags are excellent - very well designed with lots of protection
15. Lovely! Is this one of Christian's Rio or Brazillian boards (it looks quite dark) - I know he had a stock of both in the early 2000s?
16. I keep coming back to look at this, so beautiful. Two more strings than reasonable for me but an outstanding example of Martin's world class craft
17.
Beautiful bass. Though few of us have ever had the chance to play such exotica, hence hard to know what it sounds like! Where is it btw? Something tells me it's not in the UK.
I've had one of these - absolutely beautiful! They sound like an Alembic (!) with a very powerful fundamental and a piano-like clarity and complexity. They're quite a bright bass but with no lack of bottom end (it's possible to get a very full and round bass with judicious use of the sophisticated and versatile, if relatively simple controls)
18. I know there are a few helpful shortscale threads on BC - worth a look through. However, to answer directly here, I simply find shortscales easier to use (reduced tension, increased compliance), usually lighter, ergonomically efficient (less stretching for arms and fingers), and the tone lacks nothing - at least with a decently built instrument. I find that shorties are fun - quick and light - easy to pick-up and wander around with
19. Love these - a bit cheeky but GS were great builders - fantastic quality
20. Just bought a bass from Steve and the entire couldn't have been more friendly or easy - absolutely superb in every way. The bass was in better condition than expected, brilliantly packed and arrived quickly. Steve was completely honest and rapid at every step. An absolute gent and a credit to our community - deal in complete confidence with a guy who knows what he's doing and is incredibly helpful.
21. Just browsing in a music shop outside Mcr and spotted a Walnut ric 4003 - almost new (about a year old I think and appears un-played). Looks to be in perfect order - I have a pic if anybody's interested. The guy's looking for £1600. I'm not a lefty but if anybody here is looking for a left rck here's your chance. I can find out more if anybody needs it
22. I used to use D'Addario strings designed specifically for the Danelectro Baritone guitar - just the heaviest four (E-G) obviously. Very light but lots of twang and super-easy to play. They were fairly easy to find on ebay. Love Dano Longhorns - proper pop star bass
23. this is incredibly well-priced IMO - absolute favourite for bass in some big name studios, and the choice of stage DI for some big name pros (personally, I much prefer these to high-end valve DIs). If I didn't have one, I'd have grabbed this ages ago
