Now sold. I don't go in for hyperbole, however, this one fully justifies it. An absolutely stunning, as new Status Streamline Fretless 5 string. The satin surf green finish (by Status) is divine. I've had this just a few months but need to move it on as a result of other expenses and purchases (and the fact that I'm useless on fretless). This is a special, very high-spec bass with myriad custom options and refinements - the original ad is here (I'm sure that Uli won't mind and his images are better than mine): http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2623870 Specification: One-piece carbon design Surf green satin finish Plain fretless with micro-edge markers 32" with bendwell 16.5mm string spacing at bridge Special pickup positions Series/parallel switches for both pick-ups Mute switch (extremely useful in professional settings - more basses should have this IMO) Status half-wound strings (currently strung E-C) Black Schaller strap buttons in all three positions 3.2kg The bass looks absolutely as new and is supplied with its 'as new' Status bag. The only point of note is that since I changed the strings from the original black nylon flats, there's a minor buzz at the bridge on the G (I'm useless at working out what's causing this but for anybody of average intelligence and in possession of a screwdriver/set of allen keys, I suspect that it's an easy fix). Indeed, I'm going to have a mate who knows about these things look at it tomorrow. Playability is ludicrously easy and fast - in fact, joking apart, even my intonation on this isn't too shabby. To buy this bass new, there'd be no change from £2700. I have just short of £1100 in it, so a bit of a bargain at £1050 (including UK shipping). Seriously, this bass is stunning and genuinely like new. You can't really lose on this one. I'll include all original paperwork, allen keys, grub screws, strap pins (and original black nylon flats if I can find them) etc. Collection from central Manchester, Lancashire, or Central Birmingham, or I can ship in tons of bubble wrap and a Status carton (shipping included in the UK but without insurance and at the buyer's risk). I saw the show live at the Manchester gig - it reminded my why I took-up playing all those years ago. Some of the most iconic music in the canon performed by an unbelievably strong band. The brass was wobbly in 5.15 but that apart, a staggering gig with brilliant sound in one of the worst venues in Britain. The only let-down was Pino - he played everything about right I think, but he was very muted in the mix. I think he was playing a Precision most of the time. Many of the tracks in Quadrophenia are driven by the bass-lines - my honest opinion is that Pino should have tried to emulate JE's tone - maybe use a Status? The video solo of JE sounded amazing so why the mud throughout the rest of the set? Maybe down to the mix (but not entirely)

Gong founder Daevid Allen has six months to live

I've never had heroes, it doesn't work for me. If anyone has ever come close, it's Allen, Edgar Broughton and Alex Harvey. The letter is typical of Allen's beautiful mind and persona - it brought shivers. He'll never be gone, none of us will. Be good and love your sisters and brothers - we're all we have and all we need (that and a bass and a brew) -

I foolishly put mine up for sale around a month ago - I'm moving and thought I'd reduce the bulk, plus I play short scale most of the time. A stupid idea and I returned to my senses - in some measure as a result of posts and PMs on here. I played the L this morning and maintain its the best Fender type bass I've owned (and that's loads with some very expensive super boutiques in there). Don't be fooled by some extremely reasonable prices! And bump...looking forward to seeing a burgundy P with maple neck on here.
