1. SOLD - thanks for the interest Hi all, this one needs little introduction - the '61 Relic Limelight Jazz originally specced by Discreet and coveted by many. Probably the reference Limelight with pics all over the place. There's a thread in which I previously thought about selling here: http://basschat.co.u...%20jazz%20relic This comes with a Spitfire pick guard - around £130 to import from the US and absolutely outstanding (I was offered £110 for the guard alone). I've just moved and can't find the original guard - I'll include if it turns up but no guarantees I'm afraid. The barrels were frozen and have been replaced with very nice brass saddles. Comes with a functional but scruffy Spider ABS case. Playability is amazingly good - the action was high for me so I managed to get it right down - incredibly low for a Fender type bass. Lovely feel and stunning looks. I don't play long-scale at all, and if I do, then it's my Will Lee necked Shuker. Otherwise, this wouldn't be going - it's amazing. Only one image for now, and those at the link above for now but loads more available and I'll upload tomorrow. Collection from Manchester of Birmingham. I can ship but with a bit of difficulty. Price is a firm £825 and no trades thanks - I'm reducing an over-blown collection.
2. These are beautiful in every way - I had the 5 string version. The 3TS finish is just gorgeous. As good as pretty much any high-end hand built, luthier bass
3. Bought my first Shuker a few months ago - PJ with many JJ features (and many more high end refinements and appointments). it's outrageously good - playability is amazing and ergonomics are lovely. This is a bargain IMO!
4. Here's a Spitfire for comparison - lovely 3D and slightly more red and cream-yellow than appears here (iPhone). About as good as it gets from contemporary suppliers (but very expensive - mine came ready-fitted)
5. These are absolutely beautiful instruments - sheer class. I have 251 (very close - probably within a couple of months). Mine had the same 'milky' finish problem at the side of the neck so I had a neck only re-fin a few months ago (from the guys that originally undertook the finishing for Status back in the mid '80s) In my opinion, this is an excellent price - I was offered a great deal more for mine just a year ago. Someone is going to get a classic bass here
6. How cute - I like this very much - unique, individual and very cool!
7. had the 5 string 'non X' version of this - outstanding instruments with the highest level of attention to detail and a lovely feel
8. Some of the finest woodworking I've seen! Is that neck through or slotted - nice to see an image from the end of the body
9. I really don't know what's happening in the world of bass! Outrageously cheap IMO
10. Last couple of bumps - I have a viewing on this on Wednesday and if it doesn't go then, it's off on consignment. Collection from Birmingham for £1030
11. Wow, what a price! This looks beautiful - some of the nicest necks around in my opinion
12.
Stalyvegas?
Hahaha, next door, 'shton
13. Still here and still lovely! I can ship this in the UK with shipping included in the price (excludes insurance)
14.
Jesus, what a bass and what a bargain. GLWTS.
Thanks for this - it really is outrageously lovely and I'm at a bit of a loss as to why it hasn't sold - a very flat market I suspect!
15. These International colours from the mid 70s are among my favourites ever on a Fender - absolutely lovely!
16. @Discreet...it's safely stored (away from building dust) and missing you...
17. I've had enough Wals to know that they don't actually suit me, however, that looks absolutely lovely! If I thought I'd have any chance of playing it, I'd be in trouble
18. The saddles/screws on my L we're completely frozen - they couldn't be loosened at all and the screws eventually disintegrated. I replaced the saddles with some really really nice brass barrels from ebay - about £10. Fairly easy and quick and no impact on tone (but massive impact on adjustability)

Withdrawn

Lovely - what's the nut width?
20. I've played this when it was in the UK - all of us that had the pleasure would concur that this is without doubt one of the finest J types around. The neck is unbelievable - as close to a well worn-in 60-61 J as you'll find. £1400 is a joke IMO - if I had the dosh it would be long gone
21. I don't get on with the necks on these at all well, but this bass really is something very special.
22.
Arrrrgh. Don't need another fretlesss, don't need another fretless..........
And it's just over the Snake, through Glossop and next big town along. A fine selection of pastries, biscuits, teas, coffees, wines and beers awaits
