1.
I reached a part-trade agreement with the OP last week and the bass has been paid for. Thought I would mention it for all interested BCers! Just waiting for it to be shipped to me...
I suspect that you're going to be delighted - absolutely stunning - as good as it can possibly get IMO
2.
We are in Sheffield and it's a possible delivery for petrol cost
thanks - will need to consider this carefully!
3. Where are you located and is delivery a possibility (to the North West)?
4. A little further clarification - the pickups in this bass (original Status humbuckers wired to a 702 board) were replaced - at Status - with Bimax pickups when the bass was being re-finished in the rather glorious surf green you see in the images. This was to facilitate full series/parallel operation - a very nice and very expensive touch. I've checked all the paperwork for the instrument and the original price (with an aqua blue tint in the gloss finish) was over £2400 in 2011. The additional work - re-spray, new pickups and wiring for S-P and the standby switch - added a further £950+. In total, the bass has had more than £3300 put into it. It looks like it, feels like it and sounds like it. In all, a bit of a bargain (IMO) in its as new Status bag (and with all tools, a new set of strings, original nylon flats, Schaller lock system and original pins, and all paperwork). As indicated previously, pickup in the West Midlands or North West, or shipping to the UK, EU or US
5.
I really wish this would hurry up and sell......it's just sat there goading me!
hahaha, I know - every time I come onto BC there's something (usually lots of things) goading me!
6. Following a couple of enquiries, this bass was originally strung B to G and will set up beautifully (it's a Status!) either B to G or E to C. The action is currently very low with no choking or dullness - the D, G and C are achingly sweet at the top end (a bit of chorus and reverb and I'm right back in the 80's). Sorry about the images, it's difficult to describe the quality of the finish or just how lovely this looks.
7. Great to see some enthusiasm and real development in the short scale world (I've been playing short and medium almost exclusively for the past few years). Great too to see some investment in a really professional and reasonably-priced short scale and much credit to SW for getting this off the ground. I'm really looking forward to seeing and hearing the result. Very impressed if some of the balance and positioning problems can be addressed
8. Love Foderas, love Ritters, love Smiths, but yes, this is it, absolutely outstanding!
9. Excellent price for excellent vintage gear IMO
10. Includes a set of Hotwire semi rounds too. More nibbles but still here - lovely singing mwahh as you'd expect (and brand new batteries!)
11. Hi all, thanks for the very positive comments - much appreciated. It is a very lovely bass indeed and eminently playable. The tone is pure full-on Status too - enormous and defies the size of the bass itself! I have a high-quality carton ready for shipping (and loads of bubble wrap) and can ship to the UK and beyond (most of Europe, US etc.)
12. I've had a few Celinders over the years - all beautiful. There's something just a bit more magical about a Celinder
13. Thanks gents for the very kind comments. I'm kind of wobbling on this and thinking of a fret job. I must be strong. A good few nibbles but nothing definite. Very playable and very good fun - super light too!
14. Fantastic basses - more images would be good - tuner and neck pocket?
15. Now sold. I don't go in for hyperbole, however, this one fully justifies it. An absolutely stunning, as new Status Streamline Fretless 5 string. The satin surf green finish (by Status) is divine. I've had this just a few months but need to move it on as a result of other expenses and purchases (and the fact that I'm useless on fretless). This is a special, very high-spec bass with myriad custom options and refinements - the original ad is here (I'm sure that Uli won't mind and his images are better than mine): http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2623870 Specification: One-piece carbon design Surf green satin finish Plain fretless with micro-edge markers 32" with bendwell 16.5mm string spacing at bridge Special pickup positions Series/parallel switches for both pick-ups Mute switch (extremely useful in professional settings - more basses should have this IMO) Status half-wound strings (currently strung E-C) Black Schaller strap buttons in all three positions 3.2kg The bass looks absolutely as new and is supplied with its 'as new' Status bag. The only point of note is that since I changed the strings from the original black nylon flats, there's a minor buzz at the bridge on the G (I'm useless at working out what's causing this but for anybody of average intelligence and in possession of a screwdriver/set of allen keys, I suspect that it's an easy fix). Indeed, I'm going to have a mate who knows about these things look at it tomorrow. Playability is ludicrously easy and fast - in fact, joking apart, even my intonation on this isn't too shabby. To buy this bass new, there'd be no change from £2700. I have just short of £1100 in it, so a bit of a bargain at £1050 (including UK shipping). Seriously, this bass is stunning and genuinely like new. You can't really lose on this one. I'll include all original paperwork, allen keys, grub screws, strap pins (and original black nylon flats if I can find them) etc. Collection from central Manchester, Lancashire, or Central Birmingham, or I can ship in tons of bubble wrap and a Status carton (shipping included in the UK but without insurance and at the buyer's risk).
16. Fantastic kit - 3 presets superb for bass. Great price too IMO - the strength of the dollar is making these much more expensive
17. Up for the best bass cab I've used - I used a Marshall bass amp many years ago and the tone isn't for me, however, the cab alone has to be worth consideration - very punchy with a thick bottom end
18. really lovely - fantastic colour and MHS!
19. I had one of these and really shouldn't have sold it - beautiful instruments (but they are heavy - mine was around 11lbs). The LPB was lovely - the CAR versions often have pitting to the finish.
20. Loads of Foderas on here just now but this is my favourite!
21. Truly amazing basses - I had a 5. As good as pretty much any high-end hand-built. Quality of fit and finish is extraordinary - massive tone
22. A really lovely bass and I certainly wasn't raising any accusation of flipping - I'd thought the other was up for 1600 anyway. A surprise that there are two of these around - love the colour and I'd be interested if I played much long scale - good luck, I can see this going quickly!
23. Is this the one that was advertised by WishIcouldplay up to last month? If so, a lovely looking instrument
24. I saw the show live at the Manchester gig - it reminded my why I took-up playing all those years ago. Some of the most iconic music in the canon performed by an unbelievably strong band. The brass was wobbly in 5.15 but that apart, a staggering gig with brilliant sound in one of the worst venues in Britain. The only let-down was Pino - he played everything about right I think, but he was very muted in the mix. I think he was playing a Precision most of the time. Many of the tracks in Quadrophenia are driven by the bass-lines - my honest opinion is that Pino should have tried to emulate JE's tone - maybe use a Status? The video solo of JE sounded amazing so why the mud throughout the rest of the set? Maybe down to the mix (but not entirely)
