1. Used to to have one of these - superb pro amp with an extremely flexible and responsive front end, and massive clean headroom. Absolute bargain!
2. this may be totally irrelevant, but if anybody wants Conan's original Status (5 Star) flight case, re-foaming costs about £100 - for a good pro job
3. Wow, just '12' older than mine (probably within a couple of months, so I'd say this was Oct/Nov 1986) Some subtle changes from mine in those intervening weeks but still with the extremely desirable script Status plate. Nice to see pics of the case and instructions card if they're still around. Also, any idea of the facing timber - could be Shedua? I don't need another obviously, however, I'd love this. I 'rediscovered' mine in the past few weeks - extraordinary instruments - the punch, clarity and playability. 'Know what you mean by 'almost too fast'. Incidentally, I was offered a great deal of money for mine by a very reputable bass shop in London. So pleased now that I didn't sell it.
4. Heavy but brilliant - I've been looking for one of these but I'm 350 miles away. Great price IMO - good luck. All any gigging bassist really needs - you'll get heard pretty much anywhere
5. I've seen this bass in many images over time and have been struck by the enormous beauty of every aspect (and the instrument in its entirety). Martin is a genius and my favourite UK luthier by some distance. I too cannot handle 35" scale and thus empathise - this must be a serious wrench. Very good luck with the sale - an unusual spec but a staggering piece of work
6. I have a frozen shoulder and can't play, otherwise, I'd be over to get this. Brilliant price
7. These are fantastic instruments - my personal preference is the 32" scale and narrow spacing, however, Streamlines are incedibly playable with amazing tone
8. Had a 2025 (non X) in 3TS and sold it on here a few months ago. Outstanding instruments in every way - build quality is superb
9. Ooh, used to have one - beautiful. One of my favourite bass shapes ever. A pop star's bass
10. Had a lovely very high spec MG5 for a while - excellent build and timbers with a focused and tight, but rich core tone and good flexibility via the pre. I'm not sure there's a 'characteristic' Fodera sound (there are so many variables), however, I'd say that Overwater provide a good alternative and cover most of the bases (similar core tone and flexibility). I find Overwaters a little large and chunky, but no more than most Foderas (that's why I had the relatively petite MG). Good build and lots of options with Overwater too. Second hand prices with Overwater tend to be weak so easy to pick-up a good neck-through at reasonable cost. The more I think of it, aesthetic aside, Overwaters get pretty close to some core Fodera characteristics
11. I really don't know why I desperately want this. I messed around (expensively) with valve pres for years 'til it finally dawned that they don't suit me - I much prefer a SS tone - the crispness and immediacy really suit my playing style. Maybe it's the looks - the DH is outrageously beautiful and I'm amazed it's still here. If it hangs around much longer, my resistance will evaporate and I'll have another valve unit that won't suit my style. At the current price, this is a steal IMO. And it's just up the road
12. One of the few high-end pres I haven't used but if they're half as good as their reputation, my failure to try one is a situation that should be reversed...
13. Amazed this is still here - these are real quality and this bass is a steal! Best £600 you can spend on here just now IMO
14. As a former Limelight owner, I can attest to the superb quality, feel and playability of these instruments - a real pleasure to play and none of the stress of getting dings in gig situations. Fantastic colour and the sound of these things is immense - I know there's some conjecture as to the source of the pickups but the Js in mine sounded amazing - very vintage Fender. This is an absolute steal at this price - I don't need another bass but I'm really tempted. Good luck - 'really shouldn't need it
15. Is the refin (body and neck) nitro? Do you know who did the refin? Looks beautiful
16. Absolutely staggering
17. Best big stage amp I've ever played through - unbelievable heft
18. Have a 4 and in the NW part of most weeks - drop me a pm with whereabouts. It's a16.5 and 32 with bendwell and non-standard PU spacing so a bit unusual
19. This is a real shame - one of the most gifted luthiers on the planet but his business practices are indefensible. I do not think that Celinder is deliberately trying to rip-off anybody, he simply seems unable to handle the customer care element of the trade - crucial where high-end and expensive luthiery is concerned. I'll pm with further details
20. Speechless. Anniversary electronics?
21. Is this a Bird Brothers case - if so, they're superb!
22. The Glock and Monique are very different (but both superb) - if it's clean and uncoloured youre looking for, then have a look too at a Millennia TD-1. There's a valve path available with the Millennia but its a slightly pillowy, soft option rather than valve grit. The most 'accurate' pre I've used - very versatile but repays experimentation (or advanced knowledge)
23. SOLD - thanks for the interest Hi all, this one needs little introduction - the '61 Relic Limelight Jazz originally specced by Discreet and coveted by many. Probably the reference Limelight with pics all over the place. There's a thread in which I previously thought about selling here: http://basschat.co.u...%20jazz%20relic This comes with a Spitfire pick guard - around £130 to import from the US and absolutely outstanding (I was offered £110 for the guard alone). I've just moved and can't find the original guard - I'll include if it turns up but no guarantees I'm afraid. The barrels were frozen and have been replaced with very nice brass saddles. Comes with a functional but scruffy Spider ABS case. Playability is amazingly good - the action was high for me so I managed to get it right down - incredibly low for a Fender type bass. Lovely feel and stunning looks. I don't play long-scale at all, and if I do, then it's my Will Lee necked Shuker. Otherwise, this wouldn't be going - it's amazing. Only one image for now, and those at the link above for now but loads more available and I'll upload tomorrow. Collection from Manchester of Birmingham. I can ship but with a bit of difficulty. Price is a firm £825 and no trades thanks - I'm reducing an over-blown collection.
24. These are beautiful in every way - I had the 5 string version. The 3TS finish is just gorgeous. As good as pretty much any high-end hand built, luthier bass
